@Rangsantable I thought it sounded Southeast Asian, but all trippy and dubby. Like kahen music on mescaline, with all those "kan...kan...KAN!!" dudes swarming up out of nowhere.
We have one of the biggest mechanised foundries in North India with 2 koyo horizontal flaskless molding lines presently and more in pipeline. Couple of years back we were producing castings by hand molding and floor molding as well. The safety standards are improving too. But it is the smaller foundries which are lacking.
The owners of these companys should be shot. No safety gear paid to little and worked like dogs. That melted steel would burn a hole right thru them. All they care about is money. Not the workers. They can replace them and at what cost.
Ah more shite from india being cast ready to swamp the markets of europe, produced by lawless industry, their only interest being profit.Their working practices are worse than those of the British empire in the 18th century.Mind you it was unions and health and safety that killed off all our industry. The usual fight between the exploiters and the exploited, neither wins in the end, they will soon run out of 3rd worlds to exploit when the workers realise they are being taken advantage of (again).
the guys in this video are awsome, they expertly pour with no mishaps.
the people in the comments that think that they need to change their ways are ignoring the fact that these men are comfortable and safe. workers that are experienced need no "safty" equipment. what they have between their ears should be just fine. just look at them again and count fingers and toes, get the point?
I've melted iron, nickel and cobalt. never wore a space suit, but always had tinted glasses and good shoes. that guy pouring the heat standing on the mould has more balls then I ever did! lol. if they don't wanna wear safety glasses its their own decision. they can choose to or not too. seems like they have more freedom then here in the US. A=A
I'm amazed at the outfits and lack of safety just so we Americans can get the wall mart price. If these men are killed so what us greedy Americans will just find ten more worthless foreigners to produce the cheap junk we buy and some ceo will get a big bonus. America is in trouble.
no jobs in 1st world countries will be lost to places like this. i didnt see any sample of metal taken for analysis. they cant produce products to the same standards as we can. thats why we get paid more. also if i could wear thongs to work i wouldnt do it its just common sense
The problem is NOT with the quality of Indian castings. The problem is that it is being produced by workers who are being EXPLOITED by the foundry owners because they are not given even the minimal requirements of safety equipment. Everyone working there should at least have boots and long pants and long sleeve shirts made of something that will not burn easily. Really those making the pour should have dark glasses and boots. The rest don't need to be milling around during the pour.

not true at all.....get your facts straight asshole!!! we lost our competiveness because of poor health and safety issues,,,,see any work boots on those guys? see any dark glasses? dont give a shit about there welfare....like in NA....look into things more before commenting
Get your anger in check dude. Calm the testosterone. America got greedy and the unions helped it along by pushing for more and more until we could no longer compete on the world market. Then our corrupt politicians allowed the foreign companies to dump product here without tariffs. Thats what killed us. Unions + Corrupt Politicians + Foreign Dumping = America out of business.
The reason iron and steel workers in the advanced nations have suffered is because of unregulated competition like this inefficient, highly dangerous, and poorly paid set up shown here. These guys will suffer more, including eye diseases caused by infra-red radiation from molten metal (no goggles!). The burns they sufer and eye defects, are because they are not union=protected. The owners everywhere are happy, everywhere of course, because they can move their money where they wish.
and for those who say but those poor people will be out of work! well think again, workers unionize those factories will still produce, the worker will work less, and be able to afford more, pay benefits, education etc... and a nice by product the U.S. and european factories will now have a price edge at least in their own territories... look at our wars, coal miners vs owners, educate the people of these countries about safety. the wages they are not getting that they should. they will organize
Note - these factories boom while our factories close, why? because we want the product cheap even if it doesn't last as long, most things we buy have to be new! not 100 years old and still beautiful and functioning perfectly like my ww1 trench lighter or 160 year old peter wright anvil. But as long as we buy products made in china, india and other non union and non pro workers health contries, places where cheap labor is the only difference in the cost of the same product. buy european, or USA
There should be a total import ban on all products produced with such a DISGRACEFUL disregard for workers' health and safety. This is why well run foundries are going bust throughout Europe and North America. We have got to have regulation here. The free market is killing too many people and toasting too many jobs. Shut it down.
The product they are casting are legs for an industrial sewing machine for Indian Factories. Those workers have all been there for their working lives and loving it. Even if they were forced to wear safety equipment they would laugh at the management in the face and discard them. There were about 30 guys on staff and each with their own specific job. They did it expertly and with a great happiness that I don't see many "Other Workers" taking to their jobs.
Many will develop cataracts due to infra-red radiation from hot metal. This would be prevented by wearing correct goggles or visors. The managers should sack anybody who refused to wear one. Blindness due to industrial injury is nothing to laugh about or to be proud about. What you are looking at here is what Occupational Health consultants call 'slow accidents'. The risk is well known and well reported. The managers will know of it. Blind without a welfare state to depend on? No thanks.
You are welcome! I'm hoping that gradually minimum standards will apply to working conditions everywhere, stopping the 'race to the bottom'. The coal which Britain imports costs too many Chinese miners's lives. Global imbalances in trade and debt have become excessive, bordering on catastrophic (one symptom of which is the debt/ banking crisis created to finance imports). Now China owns masses of Western debt and fears the collapse of the $ which could wipe-out Chinese savings. Difficult!
I have worked in the central US for more than a year with 7 engineers, all from India. They are careful with their bodies and personal hygiene, and they wear safety equipment when we are in hazardous environments. POINT: I have never seen them laugh at safety precautions. These men are as careful to protect their bodies as you and I are. The workers in Bangalore need safety training and equipment; it is immoral & unethical to allow them to work without proper gear.
And by the way, why are all the non-working people doing there? It isn't an amusement park it's a foundry! And walking on the solidifying cast iron whit sandals its priceless.
this is outrageous. they will more than likely end up with cataracts, looking into that molten metal without eye protection, to say nothing of the lack of other equipment, safety glasses for the workers, not working directly with the molten metal, safety shoes, respirators, etc, etc, etc.
Completely agree. Dreadful. Minimum cost working is going to have maximum cost to these people, their families and ultimatly to the company. Any sharholder in this company is investing in illness.

@RBTCLD
Dear sir,
Kindly tell which quality standard you talking?? We have all grades to match your quality standard ie, Indian IS:210-1978 and USA ASTM A-48-1976.
We have grades like ranging from FG 150 which is 20 A 25 A to FG 400 which is 55a 60 in USA.
We export Cast Iron casting to countries like USA, U.K. and Australia etc.
if you have any requirement for QUALITY GRADED Cast Iron Casting for your Company then contact us.
surjeetenggco 11 months ago
@surjeetenggco my company is bradken im sure you have heard of them.
many places can make the castings we make, they also make them at half the cost, however they cannot compete with our quality.
so we lose no work to india or sth est asia.
by the time they can match our quality their labour costs will be too high to be competative anyway
