To the people who find Eliot's poetry "boring", I say "fine". Find other poetry you like or stick to prose. Just don't come here and criticize something you're wholly incapable of either understanding or appreciating. You only paint yourself as a philistine, someone to be pitied for what you don't see and feel and never will see and feel.
I agree with you, but then I am an old English teacher with an appreciation of the words alone. The images do compliment the circular theme within the work.
I wonder what Eliot would have made of the piece, he with his monotone renditions.
@SailingCartagena compliment: Politely congratulate or praise (someone) for something. Complement: Add to (something) in a way that enhances or improves it; make perfect.
@chitchant Totally agree. One would hope words as powerful as Eliot's could stand alone without the help of music to set a mood. A neat project, though.
Which quartet is this. I know it isn't Burnt Norton or Little Gidding. Dry Salvages perhaps? In any case, it's the coolest, most powerful, most moving reading of my favorite author I've ever heard. Bravo!
Beethoven was both ugly and deaf, let us all throw his work into a shallow grave that befits a shallow mind.....like the person that posted before me below.
@Brideshead09 I do not have time for a simple friend at present sorry. I am sure there are people on youtube who will give you the attention you so obviously crave....
@MickeyLove01 I'm terribly sorry my pointing out an error offends you so, but you used an apostrophe incorrectly. I therefore observed this politely in order for you to avoid making the mistake again - because it does rather give the impression of ignorance - so there's really no need to become so defensive. Also, the use of irrelevant ad hominem to counter a factual statement doesn't actually strengthen our position terribly if we're attempting to prove that WE are not "simple", you know.
I think I found the next Willem Dafoe. You guys need to go check out this movie I was sent. Search for "sabanero cowboy" and check out the guy playing the cowboy.

the echo, after each line, is horrible. the music is a bad distraction, and the whole is a mess.

So shall my heart be at peace
And if youre asking me when

Yhe words are so important and I can barely understand them--especially at the beginning. But thank you for your contribution.

I do like the narrator's voice, but the 'music' is overwhelming the text.
Poetry stands on its own.

Surely you intended the latter?

I'd say that for Carl Orff maybe, but absolutely not for Beethoven!

I believe he is actually complimenting Beethoven....while dismissing the fool who made the idiotic attempt at a poetic slight against Willem .

Oh Oh Oh Defoe, Defoe, Defoe, the Foe?
You are like a worm in your slow,
With your face and it's ugly disguise,
Your jaw-jut beneath your nose and your eyes,
Mississippi would have burned if not for you,
Well.., Gene helped a little I suppose that made two,
I will go now as I am starting to get bored,
This poetry lark is so obviously flawed.

@Brideshead09 You cannot correct an original piece of work. Idiot.

@MickeyLove01 No, but you can correct grammar. It's not pedantic; it's right.
