never heard of him until 1992. Now he is one of my favorite 1920s & 30s bandleaders. Have 54 of his discs and wobnt part with any of them. This is one of my favorites
@dzheger Olsens recordings in the early electrical period (from 1925-26) have a very special sound. They are happy, upbeat, high-energy performances and they posess the distinbctive kind of a vibrancy that other bands of that era are mostly lacking.
@genia106 Yeah, we must repeat that fun at Zakopane! Next time we must try Hotel Morskie Oko when Karasiński & Kataszek Jazz is on the show. Summer season is only at its eve so there's still a lot of time for us to see what's going on in Tatras in upcoming months. What about trying Smokovec on the Slovak side of the mountains? I bet, Rudy's never been there!
Hello Grzegorz - Now that I am back in "my" Chicago after a few months in a lot warmer, hilly, picturesque Pittsburgh, Pa which nevertheless always drives me crazy so I have to come back to "my" Chicago. However - this May 2011 - is on record even here in cold Chicago as brutally blistering, windy and awful so this "sunshine" upload - really helps a lot! Have a super Sunday!!!
@tango3721 Lana, Yeaterday we had a hot day and today the heating is on again in my apartment! The madness of this weather has reached the point when I'm slowly loosing my sense of humour. Have a good comeback to Chicago. Oh, how I miss those Chicagoian-jazzy nights in the clubs in the beginning of 1990s!!!

Great orchestra of the period. Was married to Ethel Shutta who sang, danced, clowned with Eddie Cantor in Whoopee an early 2-color musical.

The wonderful sound of the twenties which roars like speeding train. I love those oh-so-daring bathing suits. Bring them back!

@240252 of all the big names of the 1920s, Olsen's is my favorite or close to it. I'll have to put a few on here myself.
