@cwood4ever Nah. I fell out of the church for years. My parents were divorced and never forced me to do anything. It took 5 years of trying to live my life without God, and falling on my face to realize I was being selfish, so I decided to dedicate almost all my time to reading the bible and the book of mormon. After praying very very humbly for an answer to the truth, I knew I needed to serve a mission.
@cwood4ever You're not ever forced to do anything cwood. If your parents said they'd kick you out or anything of that nature, then they're very out of line. No where does it say that a young man or woman HAS to serve a mission. It's your personal choice. I'm sorry that you feel that it was a waste of time, did you fulfill the full two years?
@yofavcracka Well in the Mormon culture especially in my family, you go on a mission or you get look down on. And as a 19 year old kid I went because that's what was expected of me. Most Mormons go on missions because they are told to go their entire youth. Remember the song I hope they call me on a mission? Yeah that brainwashing. This is just something that's in the Mormon church. Yes I did my two years honorably and then a month after getting home off my mission I joined the Marines lol.
@cwood4ever That's one thing that does kind of bug me, is mormon culture. It gets far too distorted and people expect things from you without really knowing you. Everyone is human. I've never looked down on someone for not going. If they don't want to, their choice. I myself decided I wasn't going to serve back when I was like, 6 years old, but look at me now. But hey, even if you think it was a waste of time, I guarantee that there was at least one person who's life you touched an changed
@yangyiting1 the first song is called "I hope they call me on a mission" it's a song that they use to get little children excited for a mission when they are older. Sounds like it is by Voice Male.
Nov 16th I report. SO excited. Honolulu Hawaii Mission :)
