  • nobody will ever beat michael crawford

  • I think he just needs to lengthen his notes, it's quite sharp and snappy. Also, don;t like his A flat!

  • I thought it was really good and this guy has an amazing voice.

  • Good atempt, remember Watchin this, the best phantom is still John Owen jones, american phantom bore me ask they all sound the same and bring nothin new,I like a phantom who stands out for been different and being dareing, not keeping to ever note.

  • Some of you need to shaddayapadda about Gerard Butler- and don't get me started about him.

  • He rushed it. That ruins it.

  • He his ok, but G.Butler is the best.

  • @zinitaxo1 Gerard has the nice deep voice but he's not the best. I loved his voice for it and it fit his kind of acting well.

  • @DARKmirror70 exactly. Gerard's voice made sense with how he was trying to act, which for me is why he is a good phantom. granted Michael Crawford has a voice that i don't think anyone can touch, the point is that his voice is made for BROADWAY. his voice matches his medium, and for Butler it's the same way. he's an actor, so his voice acts right along with him

  • @TheEpona92 Yeah he would work on broadway. But one of the best Phantoms is Ramin Karimloo !

  • @zinitaxo1 Look up Ramin Karimloo... Butler has an okay voice it does match the image of him.

  • .....terrible

  • All brish singer sound american when they sing good music because we have natural voices so when a foreigner sings good he sounds american....No i don't think that i was just having fun

  • rubbish, why does he has an american accent when he sings?!?!?

  • shit

  • Awful.

    X's

  • Like his 'to BEEEEEEEEEEEE!' Very powerful voice he has. I would like to see him at Her Majesties.

  • I feel so seducted.

  • I made a Christmas version of Music Of The Night but it's not on Youtube yet.

  • he almost sounds like gerard butler

  • @MrMusicman25 I agree.

  • very good

    i really enjoyed it

  • He saw an Angle over the Thames....as a report. Search for this!!!!

  • I think that was beautiful. Not forced and pitch perfect. He hasn't got the power behind his voice like some do but absolutely well sung and lovely to listen to xx

  • he messed up some lyrics.........-_-

  • @MrMusicman25 DID NOT!

  • Awesome

  • he is ok but i felt like he rushed it or something. idk.

  • he's quite okay la. its just the way he sings it.

  • Come on people, this was a decent performance. He's not as big voiced as some of the other phantoms but his pitch was perfect, his tone is clear and unforced. His is just more of a pop singer's rendition than that of a classical one.

  • He's very good :)

  • no cant sing Gerard Butler way better

  • Not the best, but I love the soul of a black man singin' it! At least hes not all harsh and operatic from David Guillame, (BESON) who took the role on Broadway shortly after Michael Crawford.

  • e sang this song in class and there are some people in my class who can't sing and they sing this better than him.

He's awful and I think it's dusgusting that he coaches people.

I would not want him or Barrie Bradshaw to coach me.

They would ruin my voice not help it.

    X's

  • this is ok but he don't have any power on this...

  • WOW this guy sucks HES IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS??? I could sing this song standing on my head better the this joke can..

  • @LIBNOK030371 HE DOES NOT SUCK YOU DO!

  • NIIICE 5:25 straight killz it!

  • Just ordinary.

As far as I see, he's a bit too strong at the gentle and soft part.

  • nice job...And it doesn't matter what color he is. white, black, yellow, pink, blue with green pok-a-dots...doesn't matter.

  • yeah i know it doesnt matter. im just saying there has never been one before

  • it is cool..i understand...i never thought of it myself..

  • i loved this. how good would a black phantom be!?

  • i dont think his technique, vowel sounds and range are anywhere as good as john barrowman's

  • I Agree

But Im Honest Im Biast Because i Just Love John Haha <3

  • this performance was the reason i went out and got Phantom Of The Opera on dvd and now its one of my fave musicals of all time

  • i remember watching this performance on tv, and obviously the quality was much better because of it. i also remembering what a fantastic job i thought he did, and i stick to that. david grant is definitely one of my favourite singers of this song, his passion and respect for it is obviously strong, which adds everything to his performance for me. well done! i wonder whether the people making these negative comments are idustry proffessionals or no? hmm.

  • For a guy who professes to be able to teach singing & keeps going on about "chest voice" he doesn't appear to have one - the low notes are so breathy & weak - where's the resonance David? Most average West-End chorus guys can sing this.

  • everyone is entitles to their own opinion but the average west end voice for a guy is baritone, the phantom is a tenor, so not most average west end guys, sorry i'm just very picky and precise :P

  • I meant average as in level of ability. Nothing special here.

  • Wow, this is one of the best takes on the song I've heard. This guy's voice is incredibly smooth and seductive.

And for all you guys saying Butler and David Cook are "the best Phantom," you're obviously underexposed to more talented performers.

  • type in Anthony Warlow and listen to him sing this song.......... Anthony owns this song..... BRILLIANT !!

  • Deffo Anthony Warlow Is Brilliant So Is Brad Little

  • LOVE ANTHONY WARLOW!

  • alot of these comments are stupid

  • gerrard butler Best phantom ever!

  • it's not thrilling, vocally speaking, but he knew he couldn't make it there and he decided to act the interpreter.

he manages: he's incredibly soft, seductive, it isn't hard at all to imagine him as a real phantom and a lover.

    bravo

  • I think it's amazing, but the hedgehog on his head is slightly off putting :D

  • didnt know he was american..... how can he judge when he sings like that!

  • actually this is one of the few good; at least it's not annoying like other most favorited out

  • I think he's good....this is a difficult song and he does it well

  • david cook sings it best!

  • I would have to say that David sings this song almost as good as John Barrowman

  • wow ok obviously hes nervous and its effecting his performance but he could def sing this song, one of the few that can

  • wow ok obviously hes nervous and its effecting his performance but he could def sing this song, one of the few that can

  • wow ok obviously hes nervous and its effecting his performance but he could def sing this song, one of the few that can

  • he sings it differently to all the other renditions, his voice is very smooth and clear, best rendition ever!!!!

  • Just dreadful. He obviously doesn't listen to the advice he so freely gives to others.

My advice? Leave the musical theatre to people who are actually trained to do it

  • not good enough for someone who,s a vocal coach,on tv. david when your ready for some lessons yourself, look me up.

  • has there been any african american phantoms before?

  • Yes. Robert Guillaume replaced Michael Crawford as The Phantom of the Opera in the Los Angeles production back in the late 1980s, making Robert the only African-American to play the Phantom.

  • not a bad rendition. i've easily seen better, but for a pop singer going to opera, not bad at all.

  • Very good video and nicely sung by someone a bit out of his depth.

Please listen to the best seduction via song ever - Anthony Warlow.

  • On second thoughts he's not out of his depth at all. He's set the song up to his best advantage and uses his skills to hit the right high notes, if not the lows. :)

  • Considering he used to be a pop singer, and hasn't sung an opera song before- I think he did a pretty good job regardless.

    Nice one Grant! :D

  • Hey - not bad. I like him better than Gerry at least.

  • he has a nice voice - that is a really smooth delivery and a really nice tone colour, but rusty is right. his support is all over the place (hence the uncontrolled vibrato, dropped notes etc). but hey, that could just be nerves.

  • Pretty good, considering the song, but I've heard way better amateur performances. That last "night" was way too shaky and not nearly long enough. But he still did pretty good, I give 4/5.

  • Michael Crawford has always done the best version of this song. Comparing an out of tune Gerald Butler to MC is just really weird. I like some of Sarahs stuff as well but her rendition just doasn't have much emotion. She sings it to rigid(nobody sings everything perfectly). Michael was the only one to score a top ten hit with this song.

  • Well, I don't know what you lot are complaining about. I thought this was a very good performance. Granted, it could have been better, but not by much. I still prefer Gerard Butler singing it though. :)

  • Hes too fast for the music, doesn't sould right. But its a good song :D

  • Cool!

  • Thanks for the great musical addition to your youtube postings! I loved the experience of learning what "David Grant" goes through in his life to get really good at a really fantastic song!

  • Sarah Brightman does it better :P!!

  • Well....it was a good try. It's not an easy song.

  • voice is very wobbly but very hard song to sing. i have had to sing christens nd megs parts b4 nd also very hard esp if haven't sung 4 long tym i realli want to find jb singin raoul so if any1 knows were i can find it

  • If you have an iPod and iTunes, go on the iTunes Store and type John Barrowman into the search box. It'll come up with all his albums and there's him singing 'All I Ask of You' with Claire Moore.

  • not nearly operatic enough

  • Impressive... nice high note on "Be"... thanks for posting...
