  • Always good to hear Janis sing this..brings me back..

  • Such an awesome talent!

  • Thanks for the memories... Janis Ian is

an icon and she just gets better and better through the years! Grew up to her

music and have yet to "outgrow" it! : )

Thanks for posting this! Saw her in Boston at a Folk Festival at UMass Boston

and her concert was just enthralling!! Had

the very great privilege to meet her and get

her autgraph after the show too! The lady is a CLASS ACT!!! Just love Janis ian, and I always will... a hero to us all!

  • i was there! that was a really good preformance. she gave me a hug afterwards. it was awesome. i could like see through walls for awhile.

  • Awesome, this was the first time I had seen her perform, whe was brilliant!

  • This was Great. Loved it TTFN "I"

  • Another comment YT never showed me! Glad you liked it Irene!

  • That was lovely great song too. Thanks for sharing Debbie.

  • This is for the people moving around in the front row. Sit down. Don't you know this is a legend? This song brought back memories of high school. So long ago but never forgotten.

  • I know, the first few notes of the song and I was transported to another time... another place. Magic.

  • Hmm, my comment appears to have been eaten. I won't try to recreate it, because YT could very well burp it back up later, but I don't want to let this go without kudos. Thank you!

  • Yeah, YT seems 'comment hungry' again. Seems to run in cycles. I find myself copying every comment I type and pasting it in a Notepad window until I'm sure it posts. At least for the long comments. What a hassle! Thanks for watching, Liz, and for commenting...twice!!!

  • Wow, Janis still sings pretty darn good after all these years! I've always liked this song. Thanks for the post. Although it might not have seemed like it at the time the woman moving in front of you was pretty funny. She was totally oblivious to the fact that you were filming.

  • It helps that she was only 14 when she started singing Society's Child. She isn't really that old considering she's been an iconic force of a generation for 50 years!

Yes, that was a completely oblivious woman who moved in front of me. At the time "we were not ammused". LOL

  • Well, maybe for forty years.

  • Yeah, as soon as I posted the comment I realized that would have made me 2 when she started singing and THAT sure wasn't the case! ;-) I think I read she's 57.

  • Well, if she was fourteen in 1967, my calculations put her at 54 or 55.....I'm 58 and recall my 'squeeze' in '67 really digging "Society's Child" on our trip to the beach.

  • And who can forget her handling the musical spot on the VERY first SNL...HEAVY SIGH...HEAVY SIGH!!!!

  • Yep, I remember, she sang this song. :-) I was so impressed they had her on there.

  • A Googled it, she was born on April 7, 1951, so she's 57 ;-) So she's only 5 years older than me! I remember when I first heard her sing back in the day. I thought she was so much older than me... LOL

  • legendery..

  • She's so very nice too. She told this great story about her and her partner IMing each other in their house from different rooms. She had just heard that Canada was allowing same sex marriages so she IMed her and asked if she wanted to go to Canada and get married. LOL

I just ordered her autobiography. I'll have to do a review vid when I finish it.

  • my comments wont post

  • I hate it when that happens. It happens too often!

  • I was the lanky weird guy in high school no one noticed me untill I started playing tennis then all the sudden I became someone important. But the deal is I am still that lanky weird guy.Just older now

  • I was the chunky art geek that hung out with the nerds, weirdos and stoners. I sucked at tennis. Good for you for having a skill! LOL

  • This was awesome

  • Thank you, she was...and so are YOU!

  • Everything else was getting cooked that day, I suspect the camera wasn't real happy either. ;)

  • Including ME! ;-)

  • very nice Music.. lol n quite funny actually when that lady just got up and sat directly in ur view.. well at least u got sum good footage of that hat!

  • I think it's funny now too, Becca, but at the time I wanted to whap her in the back of the head and knock her peace lovin' hat off! LOL The hot sun makes you do crazy things!
