The first time you manage to actually get through all that, they tell you that it was an illusion the whole time and you have to play through it all again, but this time it will be a little harder than before. Only then can you truly rescue Princess Prin Prin. :) I know. Capcom is EVIL! I think the Devil himself may have actually played a hand in designing this game.

What I did is enable a cheat in MAME where you can't die and then finished the game, you need to find the codes to do this (on the net somewhere). The real ending had spelling mistakes all over the place in the story and didn't make much sense - can't remember it exactly.
Frommy prediction I think the arcade version is just a Demo and won't let u play again and fight the game again. In the real version it does the same thing but it'll let you play again of course
The Amiga port was quite close to the arcade, but it wasn't better or even as good as the arcade. You also needed to upgrade the RAM on the Amiga to get sound.
I'm not saying the Amiga port isn't impressive, it's just not the best version.

Finally using an emulator I beat it and it was still hard, even with save states. The ending blows! not even worth the trouble to such a hardass game
