@Doublebasscore Hey i was wondering-when i try to play the bass clef notes on my bass, it is not the same pitch as it is in the recording....??? Help! Thanks :)
@aramilek good one! you're so good at joking! I think you are funny and intelligent! You know so much about music! You know so much about being funny! You know so much about expression! You know so much about being right! You know so much about Gary Karr! You know so much about Koussevitzky! You know so much about playing from the heart! I like you! I don't dislike you! I don't wish you didn't post on youtube! You have such a pretty soul! Thank you so much!
@ass16161 do you really like his vibratto? and glissandos everywhere? and his bit too low intonation? i dont even say about interpretation. i like you too, but plz, just listen and compare for example to rustem gabdulin or rinat ibragimov, both on YT
@aramilek Yes I very much so like his vibrato. Gary Karr is known for his vibrato. It's so warm and fluent, it sings like no other bassist I've heard. I think you are exaggerating glissandos being everywhere, though I will admit there are some. It's purely a stylistic preference, Koussevitzky himself plays glissandos everywhere. I've heard both Gabdullin and Ibragimov, they are both fantastic players, but there is a reason they are both playing with a pianist while Gary Karr with and orchestra.
Just noticed, this score still has the errors found on the International Music Company score (Fred Zimmerman): 10 bars/measures after the second Alla Breve, second note should be a G#; 2 bars/measures later, second note should be a D#. Don't believe me? Check the piano part, listen to Gary Karr.
@bbates777 I agree with the errors but listening to Gary Karr won't decipher the note that should be there. Mr. Karr is playing in Solo Tuning, which means everything is up a whole step from what is being read. In reality, if you are hearing him play a G# then the note should be an F#.
@tdg515 well actually Mr Clever Clogs, I picked this up when I was in Solo Tuning also. Or maybe, according to your theory the G# is the only correct note in the whole piece.
@bbates777 You're right. The only thing is that this is the original score that was written by Koussevitzky, and not edited by anyone. Just taken off of the original and put onto better paper.

@kgmakc99 His bass is tuned F#, B, E, A, a common tuning for solos like this piece.

I know the wrong note of D# but never heard about the G# you mentioned. Is this true? Is there any other edition more reliable than the Internation?
