  • Cast iron block and head lol that engine will out last ten new B&S engines.

  • I have a briggs & stratton 12hp with vertical shaft.

I was taking off the crankcase plate to change the oil seal and the slinger-oil fell out and I am not sure how it fits back on. Is there any way you could help me put the slinger-oil back in it's position.

    thanks

  • @robviolin1 there should be a shaft with a gear that it slides onto, there is also usually a slightly deeper spot in the oil pan, you want to position it so that the slinger is dipping down into that spot

  • Fun project, good luck!

  • @Hallaran thanks, unfortunately its still not finished, just not very high on the priorities list :(

  • where do you get your stickers from

  • ebay

  • what rings did you use? do you remeber? i have to find some rings for my running model 8. it could use a set. i just cleaned up a nicer carb for it so it should run really good with my better carb and new rings.

  • @1944johndeerel check out ebay I just bought a set.

  • @racer4560 thanks i still never got around to it and it smokes worse! ill need it in a couple months also so i better get to it!

  • lol i have a late 20s briggs on my gokart and it has a lot of rust and it stilll works strong

  • any idea where i can get a float for the carb on my model 8?

  • my best guess would be ebay or if you have any local stores that sell discontinued or replacement parts, if not its not too hard to find a similar enough float that you can retrofit into it

  • I have a 1968 briggs & stratton 8hp engine,I already put on a new spark plug and pull rope it is loud

  • i got a model 8 sept its got a automatic pull start

    it rocks

ima upload a vid of it

  • Luminaries? lol Thats cool

  • lol, yeah, theyre everywhere that time of year in this area

  • Good, you don't want the flywheel to come off...it looked liked there was no treads to secure it.Good luck !

  • yeah, i have to re-tap the crankshaft and make it longer

    thanks

  • Crankshaft is toast! You do NOT want the flywheel to come off, and it will without a nut holding it on. Are there any threads left?I hope you can find another...they made millions of that type..check with your local mower shop.

  • dude there fine ive done it before and it was fine after wards
