My Dad, Pat Comiskey, was a great boxer, and an even greater father. After he left the boxing scene and was living in southern California, he spent quite awhile hanging around with Lou Costello,
mostly as a bodyguard. He did a few movies, The Harder They Fall - Humphrey Bogart's last film, Some Like It Hot with Marilyn Monroe (he played one of the thugs), and he did some shows like Twilight Zone, 77 Sunset Strip, Maverick.
He passed on May 24, 1989. I miss him so. What a great dad!
I am so honored you took the time to come by and write. Its nice to hear Pat was a great Dad and is so missed. I'd love to hear more if you'd like to contact me.
And this fight proves that former heavyweight champs make the worst referees!
Nice right by Maxie, and kudos to Comiskey for even bouncing up, having the presence of mind to go down a second time, and then come up winging punches.
No kiddin' Odin ! Given his lack of any real technique, sometimes methinks Max closed his eyes and just launched that terrific right in the hopes it landed. The sports writers of the day went nuts over such a surprise outcome. Pat Comiskey was viewed as a real prospect up until this bout. I think Max's old supporters were excited to have him back in the funny papers...

Yep, I like it when Jack examines Pat, motions to Max to go ahead and Max is like "what else do you want me to do to him?"

Hardest hitting heavyweight of all time. A shame the movie portrayed him as an arrogant bastard.

I like to think there's a special place in hell for Ron Howard ... =)

@dodgysoul Max was anything but arrogant...He was witty as hell and would have been a more successful fighter if not for the death in the ring

This film proves Baer had the best right hand ever in boxing. Also, Comiskey was in the last film Max made THE HARDER THEY FALL.
Cheers to Maxiegal for getting this vidio on, she is a master and i bow to her.
