  • Bernie's most funny lyrics - I like it

  • They really didn't capture the magic of this song when they added the original instruments on the album version. But this is perfect!

  • This song made me kill myself, back in the 70's

  • Hes adorable!

  • The sound quality is horrible.

  • @FutureAbe My guess would be it was a midi piano hooked to a synthesizer. Though I didn't even know that tech existed back then.

  • @dougthedude52 I think it was sound routed through a Leslie cabinet with tremelo which was switched on and off at the relevant time

  • @dougthedude52 Your second guess is quite right; MIDI was introduced in the mid-80s.

  • How did Elton get the 'tack piano' sound for the solo?

  • @Beatles7962 just switch yer keyboard tone to "Honky Tonk piano" and yer all set.

  • Cocain and vodka and Elton - super!!!! Leningrad (St.Petersburg)'79 - wonder ages!!! I'd like to back to those years))))

  • It's crazy seeing him without glasses on. He's fabulous. <3

  • wow!!! Ray is AWESOME!!! And Elton is just cute. Really...

  • Thats an effect put on by the sound guys at the relevant part of the song. It's a Leslie rotating speaker effect I think

  • holy cannoli! how old was he?

  • @h0neyw1ne about 32

  • a very crazy performance of ray cooper

  • Ray Cooper is unbelievable in this clip

  • @bestyetpictures Ray has been great in so many Elton concerts, like one i went to round that time. He appears at the beginning of the film Brazil, swatting a fly, that causes all the trouble.

  • Lovin' the dance moves, Ray. You probably party all the time, prowlin' like a young lion at those dance clubs all night where you pick up those bad-ass moves.

  • At 2:16 the silouhhete of Ray Cooper reminds me of the Toccata and Fugue" segment in "Fantasia"

  • lol...yes, exactly!!!!!

  • Honkey Chateau was one of my favs back in the day. I always loved this piece. Elton is still (after all these years) one of my biggest hero's.

  • elton john is amazing in everything he sings and this is my third favorite song of his!!!!

  • Also when you mic those Steinways they often sound like a toy...(check out the Live at the Paramount CD by the Guess Who to see a perfect example of this)

  • One bizarre thing I noticed is, how can he switch between playing a keyboard-like sound and a piano on a piano? I don't think they were invented, so it's obviously been combined from other concerts where he does use it.

  • Actually, it's PAL speed that's making everything seem fast.

I do like this performance however :).

  • shake that tambourine well, elton keeps hittin the wrong chord in the same part, and then fixing it at the same time.

  • I've seen tons of Elton John videos on here and elsewhere and saw him in concert in February, 2002. This makes a good case for his best performance ever. I keep going back to it. It's that good.

  • I THINK I Really prefer this vesion. itS FAST BLUES

  • Yeah, maybe do it in MPEG or something. You can deinterlace it perfectly, but that takes a lot of labour. Or you could do the basic version which softens it a little, but it's not noticable :).

Ray looks very different to the 1975/6 concerts with Elton! Very Disney-like song with the weird piano and xylophone!

  • LOL Ray's full of energy. Seems like he's desperate to unleash it :D!

Wee tip: Can you turn on your de-interlacer to 'bob' mode (or just on) when ripping from this DVD to avoid those horizontal artifacts :)?

  • I could try to upload some from the DVD, but I can't promise anything...

  • i uploaded this from the DVD but i cant remember how i did

  • please, send more videos from this show

  • Elton John and Ray Cooper!!!!!!!!

  • Ray Cooper is working his balls off trying to get the commies to get up out of there seats. Awesome performance by Elton and Ray!

  • On the video they commented that in some of the venues they played in the USSR, that the KGB patrolled the audience and if anyone stood up or got too "excited" they got pushed back in their seat. Must have been a completed bummer for both performers and audience.

  • wow, Ray Cooper is great.

  • this is such a 'tongue-in-cheek' song, and its great!

  • HYY-YES!
