I think, there couldn't be better Tatiana than Ariadna Shengelaya. The choice was brilliant! Vishnevskaya is a magnificent singer and there was no loss! The same could be said about the main hero. Medvedev's looks are more handsome than Kibkalo's. Actors and singers are different for each part and that is why this opera movie has become a real masterpiece! I cannot agree with "at least".
Beautiful. The soprano is Galina Vishnevskaya. She had just had a baby and couldn't perform in this film so an actress lipsynched the part. What a loss - imagine being able to see Vishnevskaya's Tatiana. At least we have this.

Помню этот фильм с 1958г., второй раз довелось

А я из-за Медведева решила посмотреть этот фильм оперу.
Действительно очаровательный фильм. Mолоденька Cветлана Немоляева в роли Ольги.
Когда-то на рупонте (ЮК) некто, по кличке Пикси, назвала ее некрасивой,
a я считаю, что она очень даже привлекательная. И в 'Служебном Романе' она тоже симпатичная - стройненькая, ножки красивые...

@kermy45 I don't know if this is a rumor, but I've heard that Vishnevskaya was pregnant when this was done - would look rather out of place
