I know what you mean by not being able to record in the house of blues. I was in the concert extreme held in dallas in 08. and i was in the front row. and we werent able to use any cameras either. just our phones. the good Nuno stretched out his hand to shake mine only, which was awesome!!! I think because i waved at him in the beginning.
ahhh i know what he does, he just presses the frets down of the power chord, its not as powerful sounding, but with an amp as loud as his is, you can still hear it
ye i was there too but I was right at the frunt with the guys. that was a rely grate show and there drumer is a awsome guy i had a long chat with hime about drums after the show
From all the videos I have seen, this by far is the best I've heard them sound good together. Garys singing is spot on, nunos guitar playing and backing vocals are spot on, so with Pat, and Kevins drumming is brilliant. Hope to see more of this.... they better come to australia soon!!
Yup - heard it in Newcastle when they were touring in the UK. It's quite spongy in an old Marshall kind of way but still cuts through and it is bigger sounding. Hope it does well - it derserves to - as something different. Nuno is an extraordinary player and it is nice to see him back in Extreme.
AWESOME VIDEO!!! I saw them when they came through Cincinnati...I posted vids of Play With Me and Get The Funk Out...what an unbelievable show! The guys are back and better than ever! I hope they put out a live video from this tour...or maybe the next one!
@alden1013 You're HOB sucks. I've bootleg'd and taken pictures of many bands at HOB and they don't care. They have one rule. No flash photography. Apparently too many singers have fallen off the stage due to flash blinding. But as long as you don't blind the artist. Shoot away.

I was right in front of Nuno, almost right up against the barricade. If I'd had a camera, I'd have had some AMAZING shots. I guess I need to get an iPhone or an LG Dare that has the built in camera because they didn't question anyone's cell phones. I'll know for this coming year. Thanks for sharing this. It was great to relive this night. I got Nuno's towel. Yeah, baby. He looked right at me and threw it to me. So awesome!
i would say he might like metallica, but mostly his influences are those guitarists who plays funky but metal, not heavy like kirk hammet is doing. His licks mostly like evh, joe perry, etc.
An entire audience singing together creates quite an effect and only a great band can pull it off. If you only have about 10 - 20 people watching you, it's kinda pathetic, but hundreds like at the HOB or thousands is pretty awesome. They also just did it a little, like the first chorus or something - Nuno and Gary sang 90% of the song, so I don't see what's so wrong.
BTW, the set list also says they were gonna do Warheads as the 4th song but they did It's A Monster instead.
wow....great upload...thanks.. this was by far the most professional gig i've seen done by a rock band. wicked....fun, exciting....always moving....the show had AT LEAST FIVE parts.
WOW! Thanks so much for posting this. And what great quality. I gotta get one of them cameras.
So glad I went. Heard about King's X about 17 years ago and finally saw them, too, but no one plays riffs like that Nuno. To me, he blows everyone away. I got the set list off the board that night - seems they were planning on doing another song after Communication Breakdown, but didn't. They knew just when to stop. Pros all the way.
Woooo that was fun singing along with one of my fav. song if only here on You Tube. I love singing along with the band in concerts. More Than Words rocks big time!!
The HOB ARE a bunch of camera nazi's. I saw them Wednesday night in Dallas, and everybody and their mother was taping. I didn't have my digital camera then. I went to the Vegas show Saturday night, and some overzealous security prick jumped on me, and made me check my camera. Grr.
"More Than Words" may have been one of the most classic songs, but it was probably one of my least favorite parts of the night. I don't want to hear all these other cocksuckers in the audience 'singing' along. I paid to see Extreme play/sing, not all the drunken douchebags in the audience. If I had it my way, I'd have a recliner right in the middle of the floor, and I'd be kicking back, drinking a beer, watching the show. Not singing along with Gary, and not playing air guitar with Nuno.
It might be one of their cheesiest songs, but as a songwriter one of the coolest things in the world is having an entire audience sing your songs back to you. To me those are magical moments, and worth capturing.
Oh it's a cool song, and it's fun to play. But personally, I would have preferred everyone shut their yaps and held up their lighters during the song. I like it when bands play so loud that they drown out the audience, or when there are songs that nobody knows the lyrics to. Same thing happened at the Tom Petty show I went to at the Hollywood Bowl during all the radio hits... I don't want to hear anyone sing who isn't in the band - - then wander around and get beers when they don't know a song.
Sing-alongs like that ruin great bootlet concert recordings of epic songs. Wouldn't you have liked it if you could burn the audio from your video recording to a CD and listen to it in your car... without any audience vocals?
To be honest... I'd be fine if last night was the last time I ever heard "More Than Words" (studio or live --with or without the crowd singing along). What I really appreciate is Nuno's ridiculous riffs and his insane ability to snap back into a groove on a dime. (Oh, and his abs.) ;)
thats the dumbest thing i've heard...as a great band they DRAW the crowd into that. it's a show and you're SUPPOSED to enjoy it...not sit there with ur arms folded telling people to shut up.
Who's telling anyone to shut up? As long as I can hear the artists over a crowd full of wannabe's, I'm fine. Or even when the band is rocking, and everyone shouts together "Hey Kid Ego!!" - that's fine. But the song is quiet, and mellow... I just wanna fuckin' sit back and enjoy it. Nobody in the audience that night could sing a melody and harmony better than Gary & Nuno.
You had to expect that. Come on. Did you honestly expect to show up to an Extreme show and NOT have the audience sing to "More Than Words"? And the guys egg 'em on. You think they're not going to sing? How would you feel if you were trying to get the audience to interact with you and they stood there like a bunch of statues. Extreme thrives on fan interaction if you want to go to their shows, you're gonna have to learn to deal with it. Sorry.
Can't blame a guy for asking can ya? This footage is fucking great! Thank you for sneaking this video and posting it. I was right above Nuno on the balcony, and it was incredible. I wish I could've taped the whole show with my girlfriend's camera but the HOB are apparently a bunch of camera Nazis. I would watch that performance over and over.
Glad you're enjoying the video! I filmed this on a little Canon Powershot Camera. Where I was I think I could have gotten away with filming a bit more, but I had to save my arm (and enjoy the show) a bit too. :)
