corvettes 79-04 had the exact same LS1 as the 4th gen F bodys. The z06 was the same size but with different heads, cam, intake manifold (pre-01) and oil pump.

Both of the V8 powered RX7's weighed 200-300 pounds more than the 13b RX7's. Ill take the lower displacement over the added weight anyday because 13b's can easily make 500+ Rwhp and maintain many years of life.

Any LS engine weighs in around 50lbs more than the 13b does, not near 2-300lbs, so there was something else making the LS7 car heavier. An LS engine gives you about the same weight with instant power, torque, better MPGs, and a WAY more reliable and easy to work on engine. Weight balance on a LS swapped RX7 is 50/50 (50.5/49.5 is what I've seen them weighed at) as well, no change there.

1. this car was done under $15K (im not going into it more for how much less, go find keith)
2. stock bottom end 1999 ls1 with mild cam and porting(in not 100% on the year ether 99-00)
3. t56 trans with stock independent rear end with 383 gears
4. to the best of my knowledge it was never topped out. but it would do 160 pretty easily
5. ls1/t56 weighs almost the same as the stock 13bt/trans and weighs less than a 20b/trans, so the car still has 50/50 weight

Ls Motors fit like a glove in most all RX7 models. LS1 in '87 and up, un-tuned should run 11.800 quarters on their best day...

@CJDaTman because it does not take much to do this for one... and the rotary is a top end HP/TQ, high rpm engine... it can spin the tires easy for long periods of time...

and unique.......and to my view its better to keep it rotary than swapping that v8...whole point of getting an RX model is to have the rotary engine...and if you like v8s then get one that has it....this swap is just stupid and the car sounds stupid....but anyway just sayin
