@FishboiFishboi when i went to the ice fishing show in ontario the pros said that 9 times outta 10 the pike will hit dead bait rather than live bait, because its less energy used, i use smelts and sardines picked up from a local grocery store. frozen of course

what i found with big pike, when they are staring at instead of just giving it these little jerks to barely move the bait, let it drop about 3 inches and give it a good heave to move it about a foot or more, i tried that on about 4 different fish, they often miss but it excites them and they almost always come back right away 10x more agressive than the first time
