  • Peplum to the max !

  • That's Beautiful music!!!

  • Without a doubt - the two greatest movies ever - Ben Hur and The Ten Commandments. Thanks for up loading.

  • i m 28 this is one of my favorite movies they don't make those movies no more and the ten commandments

  • My all time favorite movie!!!! It moves me to tears when @ the end Judah has his mother and sisiter restored to health from the risen Christ , and he believes and forgives Mesella for all that was done to him. As the king balthasar said heis whole life was a miracle. When he believed he said he felt the sword fall out of his hand, and was restored to the woman who loved him, and his mother and sisters health was healed from the leprosy. Great movie, and cast and awesome music

  • Epic right from the start... I have to go watch Ben Hur now...

  • THIS is what comes to mind when you think of golden age hollywood; epic scale, music that sounds like an entire orchestra playing in front of you and an almost uplifting atmosphere found that just isnt present in film anymore.

  • Great film, Great story. no doubt about that, but Wallace, it seems, was obviously influenced by Dumas The Count of Monte Cristo.

  • What's with the katakana in the description box? Anyway thx for putting this vid up. I love the movie and the elaborate music. =)

  • General Lew Wallace was governor of New Mexico when he wrote "Ben-Hur.' He could have easily written about the escapades of Billy the Kid, the psychopath who lived in New Mexico while Wallace was governor.

  • The magnificent Miklos Rozsa, one of the three giants of film music, along with John Barry and Bernard Hermann

  • Great movie classic........

  • We played this freshman year in marching band. I still can't get over the cheesy joke we made: "Ben Hur over a chair"

  • I keep trying to upload a suite of this soundtrack, but flippin YouTube keep blocking it, the gits!

  • I watched this movie when I was kid on TV, every year on holy week and then I downloaded because they don´t show it anymore. I NEVER felt a kind of emotion like when I watched this movie , I swear it, if I watch it on the cinema I would cry like a kid

  • @VitalMusic217 I know what you mean...

  • @VitalMusic217 what do you mean not on tv anymore? my grandmother recorded both this & the 10 commandments this last easter. gratned i dont know WHY since i have both movies (as well as the robe & a few other old classics)...............on VHS.....

ANYway...just check amazon or ebay to get the movie either on VHS or DVD.

  • Best piece for a movie ever written for the best movie ever made.

  • Only 1 word can describe what i think of this film...amd i'll say it in capitals...

    MAGNIFICENT!!!

  • i'm only 22, but i love this movie. el cid too.

  • @boss180888 Hey, Youngsters for the win :D, I'm 21 and this is my absolute favorite movie of all time.

  • The best of all the movies: Ben- Hur . Then, the ten commandments.

  • Uno de los incios más espectaculares de la historia del cine

  • Thanks ostmusicmix for posting.....I'm an atheist but I still have always liked the music and story of Ben-Hur.

  • @redbeagle100 Good to know that I'm not the only one.

  • based on number of soundtrack albums sold TITANIC is the greatest motion picture of all time

  • @MELDtoys I wonder how many of those Titanic albums were sold just to get the Celine song, and how many people bought it because they genuinely loved James Horner's score? When Titanic sells millions of copies, and lots of other great soundtrack albums sell several thousand copies each, then something strange is happening.

  • Miklos Rozsa some of the best classical composers of the twentieth century. It is without doubt the best religious film composer who ever lived !!!!!

    bravo for Miklos!!

  • Check out my rendition of the Ben-Hur love theme on full strings!

  • I've been an atheist my whole life and I Iove this movie, and the dying Heston, Jesus scene.

  • @f4ckutube

nobody ever denied its a great fairytale.

  • god that I love this music!

  • This is what General Wallace wrote recovering from his wounds at Gettysburg, not too bad

  • Check out my rendition of the Ben-Hur Love Theme!!

  • @titanicpiano14 everyone should listen to this it really sounds beautiful

  • A classic!

  • Epic film and soundtrack. I consider myself to be spiritual but not a religious person however the scene where Jesus gives water to Ben Hur is incredibly powerful.

  • Check out my rendition of the Ben-Hur Love Theme!

  • whenever folks mention ben-hur anywhere at anytime i just think of charlton heston.

charlton heston just pops up in my mind....like thunder. great actor, great film, great director.

  • Micklos Rozsa is one of my favorite modern composers. His music is fantastic. I would dare to compare him with the rest classical music composers!

  • I was only 9 years old when this great masterpiece was being filmed, but it has always made me feel that people millennials ago were basically the same kind of people that we are today. Ben Hur is a film with great emotional feeling in it, just as we also would have likely had, if we had stood in the place of this fictitious hero of old.

  • I think this fil is very good.MY dad and i looked every eastern.

  • Over the years we have all been lied to by many false religous leaders and so called prophets. Many things we have been taught are not even in Scripture and millions have swallowed so many lies by these false leaders. If you are a truth seeker, please visit the web site which is displayed in my picture and user name and take the time to read some of the articles... You will be very shocked. There is an audio there that will shock you.

    Blessings as you seek truth

    Thanks

  • @2besavedcom

I am an athiest but I will read your website

If shown evidence, I am always willing to change. That is the true meaning of objectivity.

Show me the truth that can survive scrutiny, then I will be a believer.

    I'll check it out

Meanwhile, go watch Ben-Hur. It kicks ass

  • @boyinthedrain That was a very civilized exchange. It usually isn't so between believers and non, especially on an anonymous Internet forum.

A pleasant variation from the usual. All the best to you both.

And yes, Ben Hur does kick ass.... ;)

  • @oldcorps76

People can disagree without being mean

And people can be on opposite ends of a belief spectrum and can still be respectful

It's called being a good person... and neither believers nor atheism have the monopoly on that

  • Best Film of all Times!

  • Best film of the world!!!

    Of all times!

  • fantastisch

  • this movie is made to God , if you feel sad and bad , see it and can feel more betteer, because is the story of Ben Hur a man how suffer a terrible injustice and the final the men how made his life bad sufer more than Ben Hur does

  • anybody have the title theme in mp3 format?

  • You can download it directly in mp3 format using VDownloader (freeware).

  • Check Out My Rendition of the Ben Hur love theme!

  • I first heard this song in Envoyofthesword's videos.

  • Arguably the greatest movie ever produced.

  • Titanicpiano14 plays an amazing rendition of the Ben Hur love theme, with full strings!

  • spoken madmoviesta hey, this animated sick as you say won 11 Oscars, but Hollywood wants to do a remake of this movie will never be matched, you are sick animation in your butt cabron

  • that masterpiece, that score, I think I do score for the film, is an honor to hear this kind of music, thanks Miklos Rozsa

  • God help me how i love this movie....and it's soundtrack, opening title, and the music whenever Christ appears....perfect

  • Comment removed

  • Incredible Movie and soundtrack!

The first part of this film that deals with the Nativity is especially powerful. This film and music will survive the test of time.

  • The movie, the soundtrack, Rózsa -- I love them all. See the movie in my head everytime I hear the soundtrack. Thank you, ostmusicmix.

  • The intro is my favorite part

  • The new zealander who directed king kong, lord of the rings etc.

  • Ben Hur and The Ten Commandments are the best movies ever made then comes The Godfather.

  • Though "The Godfather" is a classic, I woudn't neccessarilyy call it one of the best movies ever made, but you're spot-on about "Ben-Hur" & "The Ten Commandments." I'd also call "Gone With The Wind" one of the greatest movies ever made, then the first two you mentioned. Back when movies deserved the title "Epic."

  • Cant argue with that.

  • @egocrusher

Call me crazy, but I don't think The Ten Commandments aged that well.

I think Ben-Hur is amazing and I think the emotion of the story holds up much better than The Ten Commandments.

  • @boyinthedrain : I agree. The Ten Commandments is cheesy IMO. Of course Miklos Rozsa's score had a lot to do with the overall splendor of this film. I can never get tired of watching the chariot race.

  • @iluvpepi

There's more going on in Ben-Hur emotionally. Ten Commandments is all spectacle but Ben-Hur has more richly drawn out characters.

I am an atheist but the ending of the movie gives me chills

  • @boyinthedrain : Wow! As a Christian, it means a lot to me that you react that way to the movie. I agree with your comment. I care more about what happens to the characters in Ben Hur than I do in Ten Commandments. I think that the director William Wyler knew how to balance between spectacle and intimacy. I love his other movies like "Roman Holiday" and " The Heiress". Take care!

  • @TK42138 :

    I agree. Take care!

  • @egocrusher

My two favorite movies of all time. Then It's a Wonderful Life and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

  • @egocrusher You got good taste.

  • this film is sooooo great!

  • No wrist watch that gladiator however tyre tracks are seen in the arena and a red sports car somehwere in the back ground

  • No red sports car, just an urban myth, as is the myth that someone was killed in the chariot race.

  • Who is Viggo Mortensen?

Ben Hur is the Best of the Best and that belongs also to Miklos Rosza!!!

  • He plays Aragorn in The Lord of The Rings. He has also been in: Appaloosa, Eastern Promises(nominated for Oscar), A history of violence, A walk on the moon, and more. He's pretty beast.

  • A Wak on the Moon is like one of my favourite movies EVER.

  • Hail Manowar ;) ;)

BEN HUR was an awesome movie.

Does anybody know EXACTLY where the wrist watches are seen?

  • No wrist watches or red sports car or anyother anachronism in this film, all urban myths

  • Ben Hur and in my onion Lord of the rings where the best movies ever made. Both won 11 academy awards

  • Ben Hur released in 1959 is the greatest movie ever made in the history of world cinema.

  • I agree with you!!!

  • For Sure...No doubt about it

  • Absolutley correct.

  • truly one of the greatest movies of all time. MGM or whoever owns the distribution rights to this movie should re-release it in theaters. It's probably a whole different experience in comparison to seeing this movie at home.

  • Yes. I saw this movie in the theaters six times in the first year. I couldn't get enough of it then, and I still can't.! I have the orginal music soundtrack, and still listen to it.

  • Loved this.

    Thanks for sharing HerkyHawk.

  • ostmusicmix thanks for posting this, i'll share it with all my friends. peace, paul

  • caviar...best of bests, fullstop.

  • LA GRANDE CIVILTA' DI ROMA

  • Absolutelly marvelous... marvelous song!!!

  • Agreed I think this was the greatest movie ever made based upon the role of the greatest man who ever walked the earth. The simple fact that hundreds of millions worship Him as our God has much to do with why Ben Hur will never become tired as a fantastic story. The power of love, betrayal, hate, revenge, brokeness, repentance, forgiveness, redemption and renewed hope make this movie simply the best.

  • i must say this in Casablanca are my favs.

  • my favorite movie best movie in every way

  • John Cooke, where ever you are....YOU ARE A FREAKIN' GENIUS...

  • MAGNIFICENT!

    in every scale!

  • This is the greatest movie ever made.

  • After watching this movie you start thinking about life and everything in a different way almost with tears in your eyes. Most emotional film ever produced and that already in 1959. Unbeatable....

  • i`ll second that , i sat down and watched this with my father when i was 10 years old..........a complete and utter masterpiece !

  • I have no words to describe this movie. Simply unforgettable.

  • The opitomy of E.P.I.C.

  • E.P.I.C.. stands for editing in perfect context david lean was a an editor before he was a director [ he didnt do this movie he did his own ] .

  • There is a great new bio (Charlton Heston: An Incredible Life: Revised Edition). It's at amazon!

  • Incredible and an inspiration for another master of movie songs: John Williams

  • This film has everything, great story, action, drama, religon, hope and such good scenes and great music. My fav film of all time. Deserved every oscar it got in its day.Well done Mr Wyler and Mr Heston

  • One of the greatest productions ever released !

Thank you for this video ostmusicmix.

Thank you maxitismakedon for sharing it with me.

  • It IS the greatest movie of all time.

  • This can be the greatest movie of all time.

  • I am tempted to agree with you. I never loved Citizen Kane, generally regarded as the greatest, and CASABLANCA is terrific but when all is said and done BEN-HUR has everything going for it to make it the greatest, including Miklos Rozsa's magnificent and unforgettable film score.

  • For Citizen Kane to be considered the greatest movie of all time, I sure can't find it anywhere. Never seen it, but want too. Watched Casablanca the other day. It was fantastic.

  • thou fool this is the greatest movie of all TIME!!!!!

  • I love that Ram's horn being blown at the beginning. One colorful note.

It sets the tone perfectly, sheer genius!

  • Good art doesn't gets older.I live in Brazil.

  • my favorite part starts at 1:36

  • BRAVO!

  • gänsehaut!

  • five stars

  • I love it! Never get tired of it!

  • MAJESTIC!

  • "Forty-one. You have hate in your eyes .... That's good. Hate will keep you alive!" ;)

  • Best film score ever, hands down. I get chills every time! Yeah, Miklos did "King of Kings" too, but this has it edged out by a bit. Both are phenomenal.

  • They are both amazing scores but my all time favorite is The Greatest story ever tolds score.

  • Einfach eine Monument in der Filmgeschichte. BIs heute nie ganz erreicht.

  • this movie and it's music gloriously proclaims the majesty of our LORD....may you all come to know HIM before HIS soon majestic and glorious return for HIS own !!!....God Bless !!!

  • Fabulous theme !!!

  • the music score is the best part of this movie

  • a clasic movie i love the part off the competition horses its the best part off the movie.

  • my favourite film of all time, from the music score, to the wonderful charlton heston, and all the actors/actresses in the film,, just beautiful, a classic

  • I saw this film when it first came out in a brand new theatre in Manhattan with state of the art sterophonic sound (for the time) As the audience was waiting for the film to begin, they started to play this music. It was if a bolt of lightening went through us all. I'll never forget that moment.

  • The stereophonic sound in this film is STILL state of the art even compared with todays sound.

  • Best movie sound track ever, best story for a movie ever. Hollywood went down hill from here.

  • Thank you so very much for posting it!!!What a GREAT movie it is...God bless: )

  • What in the HELL are they waiting for ... i want this on Blu-Ray ...

  • The Greatest Fictional story ever-Definately the best soundtrack ever by leaps and bounds-John Williams is great, but this is the best ever. The Music when Christ is on camera is perfect, you couldn't do any better, and the end track with the shepperd is the best.

  • Personally, I love the Charioteer theme the best.

  • I used to think this was the greatest soundtrack then I thought spartacus was

for some rason I like the soundtrack to the shoes of the fisherman better even though it is not as blareing as this one and spartacus.

  • One of the top 5 films EVER!!!!!!!!!! One of the greatest sountracks EVER

  • This hits you like a sack of bricks. I've never bought a piece of classical music in my life, but I'd sure like to get my hands on this soundtrack. Pop it into the ol' portable CD player on a hot summer day, kiss the wife good bye and go cycling for 20 or 30 miles. What a way to spend a summer afternoon.

  • this great theme is played at the beinning of each Manowar concert

  • Yeah!!

Always the intro of the concerts

  • Yes, Luvlyladeerm, here is true majesty of the like we will never see, or hear, again in cinema. Dr. Rozsa was a brilliant and beautiful man, a true gentleman and deeply religious of spirit. His music was truly the music of God. No films have been made since that match the epic triumph that is "Ben Hur".

  • Ah the Overture!

  • It would have been nice to see a remake of this with Oded Fehr starrring as the title character. Too bad he's too old now.

  • I agree with you!

  • 0:26-0:50 is best part.

  • Could not agree with you more. 49 years after seeing it for the 1st time, this music still stirs me like no other.
