  • Apparently all the people in these comments saying that they shouldnt give shoes but rather food and shelter don't understand how hard it is to go barefoot EVERYWHERE. Try it for just one day. Its not easy. Especially considering where the people live they don't have smooth, paved sidewalks and streets. Yeah, giving food is good, but it will only last them a few days, depending on how much food they get. But these shoes will last them months, even years.

  • I would give away 1000 bucks to children! I want those gold glittery TOMS!!

  • Those TOMS?

  • I think its funny that there are people on here that complain about the shoes and this company and talk about how "they would do this and they would do that" when the simple fact is. Your not doing anything, your sitting there on your computer like everyone else. I happen to love these shoes and what they are doing. Are they perfect? No but what shoe is, but at least they aren't sitting around waiting for someone else to make the world a better place.

  • there terrible shoes they had to pick these shoes to give to the need i swear give them food shelter and money not weak shoes that wont even fit

buy one give one to charity? cmon arnt they like 60 bucks to?

  • @haiemye NO the shoes are GREAT and there not that expensive, besides, do u think its better for the children to have new comfy shoes, or tattered hand downs??

  • @minimoonit25 ok see the children dont really need shoes it not a big thing they need the money the food shelter really the shoes wont change much

  • @haiemye

ya thats what i thought at first until I found out they're not allowed to go to school unless they have shoes, and there are also lots of diseases they could get!!

  • THUMBS UP IF TOMS SHOULD GIVE THEM FOOD/SHELTER INSTEAD OF THOSE SHOES! JUST GIVE THEM FOOD AND A DOLLAR SANDAL!

  • @Fireboydude2

the shoes are worth 60 bucks to 100 dude, and besides, their not allowed to go to school if they don't have shoes u no.. and they could get diseases

  • I fucking hate those money hungry bastards who dont give a shit about people living in poverty. AHG, I HATE THIS PLANET!!!!

  • I love my TOMS. The best part is its for a great cause:)

  • Why don't you just give the 60 or 70 dollars it takes to buy these shoes directly to a charity?

  • @bit391 Mine were only like 50.

  • I'm the only person in my school that owns toms and now that I explain to ppl in why I bought them they promised to buy some too it feels good to help the children in need!!!!

  • It's funny that when i started wearing TOMS about 3 months ago, everyone in my school was like "Dude, those are some gay ass shoes". And only 10 people in my whole entire school of 3500 kids whore TOMS (that i've seen). But now, atleast 600 kids wear them. :) Thanks Toms.

  • Out of alllll the shoes out there, im GLAD TOMS became popular:) its people like this that the world needs!! im getting a pair!

  • Buy more toms! Spread the word! Put shoes on everyone in the world! One for one :) it's only fair

  • considering your buying 2 pairs their pretty cheap

  • i have a pair of toms and i love them! if you don't have a pair, you should definitely buy some.

  • they dont have my size in the pair i want :(

  • You need to buy some, they are so comfertable! Mine r pimp!

  • Mine are Awesome! :D

  • the big brands should really look in to doing the same thing because they have the capital to do it all over the world

  • I got my first pair today! They are so awesome!

  • Where do you buy toms?

  • @dancemusicjesus online or i think most nordstroms carry them now

  • @dancemusicjesus toms.com or nordstroms

  • @dancemusicjesus

    toms.com

  • i own like 8 pairs of toms, i love them plain and simple.

  • I just bought two pairs of TOM's shoes and I am proud of it. Life is priceless, and 50$ is quite a bargain to bring help and happiness to the less fortunate.

  • i just came back from a medical missions trip and we truly dont realize what we have life is beautiful

  • It is sad that society has reached such a low that when a person truly wants to do good and make the world a better place, people must find the flaws in his every action. So what if he's making a profit? Do you think he would be able to do this if he wasn't? Would people honestly rather see Blake working in an office every day and be making half the salary he is now than making more money but carrying out such an extraordinary deed for the world? Get your priorities straight.

  • I LOVE THEESE SHOES!!! My sister and brother have a pair and me and my mom are getting a pair!! the best part about this is you get a pair of shoes you like then give another pair to a child in need!!!!!! BLAKE you r my hero!!!!!:)

  • @sunseteleven I understand your comncern. If you read or understand anything about the big picture of Tom's you would know that the shoe drop is just one of the things they do. They also work with local businesses to set up manufacturing and to create jobs and stimulate their local econmy. I know this becuase I wanted to understand what i was buying before I was buying. I didn't just fall one commercial, I did the research.

  • I was not interested in TOMS shoes at first because I just thought it is ridiculously expensive compared to how the product looks.

HOWEVER as we always say "don't judge the book by its cover" You may be buying this down-to-earth look shoes but....you're also buying the same shoes for a child in need. TOMS made me realize that we take our life opportunity and standard of living for grant. We get used to the way we live here that we forget what it means to grow up without just plain shoes.

  • This is AWESOME

  • you should go to Guyana because a lot of kids there don't have shoes either

  • eeee

  • got my pair today!!!!! there nice too haha

  • Inspirational!!!

  • I recently had the pleasure to meet Blake Mycoskie and I can tell you that that man is nothing but inspiration. Since 2006 they have given over 400,000 pairs of shoes, It took 4 years for Toms to return a profit, so if one man can make a difference, change the world and be happy doing it then why shouldnt he be rewarded with a little wealth. I can tell you that his heart his passion and the people that work with him should all be commended.

  • I don't know what is wrong with danipj, but I will definitely be getting a pair (or more) of Tom's shoes. If that's what it takes to help a child in need, why wouldn't someone want to contribute?

  • Then what about all the invisible marketing

  • Last night I was thinking: Why am I not doing what I want to do? Which is the impact that publicity has in me? Are we spending our lives answers questions set by liers? I think we should go back to Guy Debord, Marshall Mcluhan and others... And sometimes I think: Have we not learned anything at all in more than 2000 years? Because things do nothing else than to get worse.

  • I might have gone too strong with this people and I don't have answers for everything. What I know is that I am REALLY tired of all the lies that go trough my eyes everyday. I am REALLY sick on how people does things with the only objective of having a nice living on their own. Seriously, I am not giving any more chances to how things work. Using those children as their marketing strategy... I won't put in words what I'm thinking.

  • I say what I feel and think, blame me if you like. But when you stop with me, go to a marketing director and ask him what he thinks about the video above. On the side of earth where I live, Barcelona, is not only me, but also all my friends, that are still laughing at the catchy lines and heart breaking shots on the video.

  • @danipj

No Kidding." A marketing tool". The girl in the video clearly states that this is a "business". The company is set up to make money AND to provide shoes. Most comapnies companies ultiamte goal is just to make money. I think that is where you are missing the point here.

You think that world vision makes those crappy videos just to make you feel bad, those are all marketing tools, designed to get you to donate. Quit trying to disect this and and try to understand it.

  • Hello, I am a graphic designer, specialised in creativity. I also do video editing. And I know what I'm saying. If you NEED to believe in this, do so, but in reality you are only helping Tom. It is so easy to see all the tricks on the video above, I'm actually amused that there is no more people laughing at this spectacle, in which Tom wants us to believe that his personal interest and the worlds are the same.

  • @danipj

    NEGATIVE NANCY ALERT!!!!!!!

USE CAUTION DANIIPJ IS A NEGATIVE NANCY

    EVACUATE EVACUATE!!!!!

HE HAS ALL THE ANSWERS, STAND CLEAR, WE HAVE AN EXPERT IN THE AREA, OR MAYBE HE ISN'T. MAYBE HE JUST THINKS HE IS AND HAS DONE NO RESEARCH ON TOM'S SHOE COMPANY WHATSOEVER, BUT BY WATCHING THIS ONE VIDEO HE KNOWS ALL THE FACTS. HMM I WONDER WHICH IS THE CASE? RESEARCH DONE OR JUST TALKING OUT HIS ARSE?

  • Both.

  • And by the way, I think its great to have this conversation right here, no need to insult.

  • @danipj The shoes are so expensive because your basically buying two pairs. One for you and one for a stranger. They aren't fragile and cheap, their not like normal shoes there like slippers, but you can wear them outside.

  • I totally agree. I mean what little kid actually wants to wear shoes?! Hell, I kicked them off every chance I got and I doubt those mothers let their kids go to those unsafe roads or toxic areas

  • This just proves that just the littlest bit can change the lifes of many people

  • theyre reaaaaly comfy and you help theses kids:]

  • think about all the children you'd help. i know from expirience how great it feels to know that i helped a child in need.

  • Lol at the people with negative comments on this vid.

Seriously guys, I'd give 50 bucks away to some kid if he/she needed shoes. I don't get what the hell the problem is. Of course they are making money, it's a business and they want to continue helping these people. I love my pair of Tom's and I love how somewhere I've helped some kid out.

  • @Shniva are they expensive because they are trying to make a profit or are they expensive because of the material it takes to make them

  • @centralbeeee probably expensive to cover the cost of the second pair

  • I can smell money and business.

  • TOMS shoes is genius. Why? Because they not only make money, but they also help other people. It's a win-win.

Their shoes are shockingly expensive - fourty dollars for a pair of cheap material shoes. However, their advertising campaign is genius - buy a pair, give a pair.

Why is this so smart? Because people will buy these expensive shoes that cost a fraction to make to "help others."

Sure, its a good cause, but remember, TOMS is also making a LOT of money off of you.

  • They aren't that expensive though, Nikes are WAYY more expensive and don't offer what TOMS does.

& i find them very comfy. My feet stay warm and the sole is very soft. I love my TOMS :)

  • and suddenly, most of us are ok with that. =]

  • @greybash "...Their shoes are shockingly expensive, fourty dollars for a pair of cheap material shoes... that cost a fraction to make to 'help others'."

Actually, you got it a bit wrong. TOMS charges the customers for both your shoes AND the shoes they ship out for shoe drops. That is why they're so expensive.

I would love to buy these shoes, but I don't want to buy online with my credit card. They sell them in Saskatoon, so I'll be road tripping out there to buy some from a licensed retailer.

  • This is so cool. I love Tom's shoes. I just bought a pair today :)

  • i want to work for Tom Shoes. this is such a great organization :)

  • I would encourage Toms to make shoes that stand up to the rigors of rural living.

  • @leloodallasmultipass atleast theyre not shoeless

  • not for two weeks, anyway. I am glad they do this- and now that they have a little buzz going, they should make real outdoor shoes for these kids. I know the costs are high, but economies of scale are being reached.

my comment is aimed at improving quality, not on nitpicking at philanthropy.

(you don't need to write my name, youtube will list your comment directly below mine automatically as long as you reply to me directly.)

  • so awesome to see the girl (sorry I don't know her name) from the movie STICK IT !!!! I am encouraged to know that there are so many generous businesses out there. I hope to become one myself

  • toms is such a cool organization!! its cool to know ur buying a pair of shoes you like and ur gicing some to someone!

  • The simplest concept making such a huge impact on these peoples lives. Bravo to all of you

  • Comment removed

  • So I wonder who makes all these shoes...?

  • i cried watching this.

    i want to buy toms!

  • Amazing efforts to make a difference. We have taken flip flops overseas to Africa and Tahiti and school supplies. Our 9 and 11 year old sons travel with us trying to TURN KINDNESS ON in the world. I envision them growing up to make a difference and feeling the compassion as you do. Please watch our video of our trip to Africa. (Keanu and Tristen Ellen Turn Kindness On) on you tube.

  • not funny or cool at all

  • Good movement.

  • tell me where they sell tom shoes! someone please!

  • online.

  • You can order them online, that's the best place to get them. There are various boutiques that sell them as well, but it depends on where you live because they're scattered everywhere.

  • They sell them at Nordstrom's, Boulder Running Company and Roxy's. Those are the places I know of.

  • My family has bought 8 pairs of TOMS and after you buy them you feel rly good about possibly saving a childs life or letting them get an education! Thank you Blake for starting the one for one idea and inspiring so many 2 help!

  • i swear this made me cry! we need more people like them =D

  • i want some TOMS!!! I Like the Olive Canvas Stitchout TOMS

  • Wow Tom great idea!!! The change is here and I will be apart by buying a shirt, awesome idea Tom. you will be rememberd i just know it

  • his name is Blake..

  • hahaha

  • Great idea. Too bad they are made in China. So pretty much they get to return back to China and give the free pairs of shoes to the kids that made them. (Being phacisious but you get my point)

  • you'd probably make a better point if you could actually spell the word facetious correctly. nice work, bro!

  • His point was made clear enough for me.

  • you mean Chinese kids made these shoes in China, not sure if they were really made in China, which is beside the point, the thing is what gives the idea that they were made by KIDS in China?

  • What I like about TOMS, is that they help a child in need, BUT, they are also very stylish. That is why I bought 2 pairs :)

  • Tried a pair on earlier day....

    ....and left with 4 pairs

    Sweet.

  • im gonna make someone buy me a pair for my birthday.

so its not only me being made happy!!!

    =]

  • I got 4 pairs

  • I am going to buy a pair !

  • Beautiful idea.

    Im SO buying pair.

  • Are you claiming to be the owner of Toms?

Because unfortunately for you, "Tom" didn't create TOMS. Blake Mycoskie did. It was a really good try though. : ]

  • AHHH!! you got me..........im blake??

  • AHHH!! Good one.

  • "Anybody who's starting a small company; everbody who has an idea, incorporate giving in what you do." Great advice! I already have plans to do that with my product.

Blake and everybody involved...I salute all of you.

  • i don't know if i'm the only one but i cry each time i watch these videos. i have bought 6 different pairs, thats about a family that have shoes now!
