"What no lightning today? Afraid i'll redirect it?" the afraid i'll redirect it part should've been left out. It sounded abit silly. But this fight was very emotional, I think i liked this fight better than the one between Ozai and Aang.
@Civfan26 Yeah that's one of the things that makes it stand out even above most primetime TV shows, let alone other cartoons. Every episode, even if it was a lighter one, in some way drove the plot, and all the places/people touched on eventually came together in the end. This show has some of the best writing I've ever seen for any TV show, period.
@spanishgame Even the Great Divide's lesson held some sort of significance to the greater plot, albeit a minor one. Basically, the way I see it, the Great Divide was about Aang learning his place as a mediator not among just nature or the Spirit World, but among people and their personal problems, too. He also had to be able to maintain his standards of being impartial in a feud. Those were lessons that helped Aang later on in the show.
This is one of the things I just love about this show.
This scene of two people fighting is treated not as an epic and exciting climax, but rather a very tragic and personal event between two family members.
A brother and sister who by rights should love each other being forced to fight each other, perhaps even to the death, because of the wildly different paths their lives have taken them.
This show knows full well how serious this is and let's us know about it right from the start.
@GalGamJD Heck yeah. Whether you're a Zutarian or not, you really gotta respect that, especially considering it wasn't so long ago he was tying her to trees. Now he's risking his life to save her. =')
dinizithu that happend only on dragon ball z they talk too much but it is quiet fun and it is better that it have much episodes but not too much like dragon ball z 291 around 150 is enough
I love how the music fit the scene so perfectly. It mixed in with the emotion of an older brother having to take down his younger sister, and the pathetic sadness of the whole situation.... that two siblings could hate each other so much that they would tear eachother apart.
Normally, I'd thumbs down people who ask for thumbs up and i truly think it's totally gay to even ask for them in the first place. but since it is in fact the BEST ANIME EVER, i'll give you a thumbs up,..but not because you asked..im doing it for Avatar
@GalGamJD I know I'm probably one of the few who thinks this, but I think he should have; I mean, he'd already reconciled with his uncle, and it was the perfect ending to his and Katara's relationship, seeing how she'd always distrusted him. Iroh could have taken the throne, and to me, his sacrifice would have carried ten times the weight (thought regardless it was still a pretty powerful scene.) This act definitely completed Zuko's journey, though, regardless of whether or not he died.
Does anyone know what happened to Zuko's mom? It just shows that she ran away or was banished due to treason towards the fire nation but does anyone know what exactly happened and where she is now? I know Zuko asked his jailed dad where she is but it never showed an anwer. Can someone PLEASE answer?
@CuteChongAlt It is very likely that this will be answered in the comic series that will be released this summer. It follows the original characters directly after the war, and is being written by the people who wrote the original show. The whereabouts of Zuko's mom were never actually revealed in the show.
@CuteChongAlt It's possible she ends up in the spot where Zuko and Aang will later develop it into the Republic City. We will see it in the Legend of Korra.
@elphaba2011 totally agree with ur feeling. i was teetering on suspense. not sure if they will cover it though...i also want to know what happened to aang, katara, toph, sokka and suki.
@NSwisher1572 agreed with Azula's childhood. i love how avatar has villains who have some sort of reason or background/purpose. well with the exception of ozai. however, zuko with katara close relationship would only have added conflict to the ang and katara so it woulnd't have been feasible. it would have also affected the zuko mai relationship and this was one of the last episodes so it would be better to wrap it all up instead of adding extra conflict.
@virusguy5611 With Ozai being an exception. Well it's never really made clear, but Ozai's deep anger and lust for power actually had it's roots in a complicated relationship with his father Azulon. Ozai believed he was the worthy successor of Azulon's throne, but Azulon favored Iroh (and as you can understand Ozai hated the thought of Iroh as Fire Lord).
Azulon himself was a ruthless war mongrel because he had Sozin's great legacy of war on his shoulders, and we all know of Sozin's backround.
@Montesama The only episode in the entire series that was actual filler (neither foreshadowed nor mentioned later) is episode 1:11, "The Great Divide."
@GalGamJD Oh gosh, I had SOO many mixed, powerful emotions when he did that, I can't even explain it to ou in this one little comment! The most powerful moment ever produced on TV. Such power, and emotion, and so much nostalgia, all in one scene. Avatar changed my life, and I will love it forever.
You gotta really feel sorry for Azula. She lost everything. Her friends, familty and even herself. All she wanted was to be loved and she never got it. It makes me sad inside to think of the pain she went through.
You gotta really feel sorry for Azula. She lost everything. Her friends, familty and even herself. All she wanted was to be loved and she never got it. It makes me sad inside to think of the pain she went through.
Zuko: What, no lightning today? What's the matter, afraid I'll redirect it?
Azula: OH, I'LL SHOW YOU LIGHTNING!
Zuko: NOOOOOOOOO! *is shot with lightning*
In-context or out-of-context, why the HELL would Zuko goad a mentally unstable Firebending prodigy on a power trip into freaking shooting lightning at him? Screaming at a thunder storm on top of a mountain wasn't good enough? *facepalm*
@drakknight118 I know that. Hence the "in-context or out-of-context." It sounds stupid no matter how it happened; the only experience he had in redirecting lightning was Ozai's (whose Firebending is inferior to Azula's) attack which was when the sun was still almost totally eclipsed by the moon, which likely weakened it, too. Why would he risk Azula's attack when she was cracked mentally (no reserve, no inhibitions) PLUS hyped on the Comet?
@ProDreamer3 first of all lightning has no effect on whether there is an eclipse or not and why he did it? how stupid are u? he was trying to protect katara and ozai's lightning surpasses azula and firebending, didn't u see the showdown between ozai and aang? gosh think before you say
@drakknight118 He didn't goad Azula into using lightning to protect Katara. That's BS. If anything, it put her in FAR more danger than she was before. Also, if the eclipse doesn't affect other forms of Firebending as well, then why didn't Ozai or Azula use lightning during the eclipse? As for Azula's power, the most obvious sign of her (greater) prowess is her blue fire -- it is much hotter than any other Firebending. Did YOU watch the 'showdown' between Ozai and Aang? It took Ozai a great...
@drakknight118 (continued)...deal of time to finally subdue him, and that was with Aang barely in the fight (he would always aim slightly away from Ozai, never dishing out Ozai couldn't block/dodge)! Aang was unsure of what he was going to do. He wasn't trying to hurt Ozai; Ozai was, most definitely, aiming to kill.
@bhermoth REPEAT: I know that.
Underneath this video on The Track Team's official website, they said they were trying to undertone the tragedy of siblings in battle, rather than being your typical, intense fight music. And boy, they did a kick butt job it.
@theMEfit238 Yeah, totally. This scene was amazing, like powerful and beautiful to the point that it made my cry, but also sad and tragic to the point that it made me cry even more. This battle leaves them all behidn.
if the world could be this beautiful, intimidating, and wonderous dont you think bending the elements would seem more realistic. but the world now is being polluted, deprived, fought on, and killed for our selfish reasonings. im ashamed of myself cause ive done no good. avatar is amazing and even for a cartoon can open my eyes
Zuko and Azula's duel was epic, and symbolic in so many ways. I, for one, was in awe of Zuko the whole time. As I watching him skillfully fend off his sister's every move, I couldn't stop thinking of how far he's come. I was thinking, "Here's this guy who, not too long ago, was chasing the GAang, trying to capture Aang, attacking people, burning down villages, etc. And now here he is, fighting with all his heart for what's right!" Yay Zuko! This song was my ringtone for a long time.
i dont know how to explain it but after watching the season finale again it makes me feel kinda sad...like i dont have my own life...weird ..maybe i would like to live in the world of avatar or i dont know,,
@TombMan12 Dude... I feel the same way. Their world seems so much more... fun and there was a lot of beauty to it. Plus I want to be a waterbendering master. lol
@TombMan12 Dude... I feel the same way. Their world seems so much more... fun and there was a lot of beauty to it. Plus I want to be a waterbending master. lol
I kind of felt bad for Azula, Ursa probably thought that Ozai loved her more than Zuko, so she tried loving Zuko..and then they fight over the throne....drama and sorrow...
Actually, Azula hungry for power just like his father. She completely insane when she lost. She likes to win. I like Zuko much more better because when he angry, I always laugh.
@7RoMkA7 It's not an anime. It's a Western cartoon lol. It was influenced by Japanese art styles, but it in itself is unique and an incredible show! =)
@7RoMkA7 i also really liked that they didn't input the fight sound effects and covered it with music. took me a while to appreciate it, but it was a very good decision on behalf of the creators
@seg162 I know what you're thinking, and I've been watching Japanese made animes like Dragon Ball Z , which is awesome in its own right, but none of them touched me like Avatar did.
I've never before felt for characters like I did in this show. I don't know what it is... maybe it's just that fact that's it's so innocent. I makes you feel like a little kid with no worries.
one thing to say: this music is fucking EPICCCCCCCC
okay i lied i have more to say: every time i no im gonna hear this music, i jump up and down on my seat in anticipation this music says so much...that it really IS the LAST agni kai...its says that there is a winner and a loser and that this is a battle for the history books....the music during aang and ozais fight could have worked for this fight, but this music worked so much better I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS MUSIC GREAT JOB TRACK TEAM!!!!! <3
I was crying during this fight. Blue and Red, it was beautiful, and yet this song playing in the background told us that this was the end, one of them was going down, hard.
I knew that Azula was that one, that she deserved it and all that... but seeing how she ended... seeing her like THAT had a great impact in me.
Azula was so well written, was such a developed and complex character that her ending felt real. I really felt her despair and anger in the end.
I hated Azula at first; I thought she was just a flat character that the show's creators wanted the audience to just hate.
But then they put enough hints in there that she wasn't just psycho for no reason. Azula is sociopathic. She's manipulative yet charming, a narcissist, and is a pathological liar (when Toph admitted she was 'pretty good' at lying) and can read body language easily (in the prison episode when she claimed she was a "people person").
Azula was a freakin' psycho. The writers had no trouble making her an easily hatable character. I would have loved to seen her dead by the end of the series, but imprisonment works too.
@Vini32 Its not the greatest anime ever since Avatar: The Last Airbender is not from Japan, but from America, regardless of the fact that It has East and South Asian elements and possibly along with Native American elements(Water Tribe being highly similar to the Inuits and other Native American Tribes in real life). Because of this fact, Avatar: The Last Airbender is Not an anime. Though even if it is or is not an anime, Its still one of the greatest series I have ever seen.
@SkyBlueFairy92 Avatar: The Legend of Korra. Set 70 years after The Last Airbender with a girl avatar named Korra, whom hails from the Southern Water Tribe. She already mastered Water, Earth, and Fire, and need to learn Air from Aang and Katara's Son, Tenzin. She has to deal with an anti-bending party while learning Air. It's been confirmed to be a mini-series, as well as the fact that it only consists of 12 episodes.....Yeah, I didn't like that last bit i said either

@worldends08 When did I say that it isn't?
ProDreamer3 1 year ago
@drakknight118 (continued)...deal of time to finally subdue him, and that was with Aang barely in the fight (he would always aim slightly away from Ozai, never dishing out Ozai couldn't block/dodge)! Aang was unsure of what he was going to do. He wasn't trying to hurt Ozai; Ozai was, most definitely, aiming to kill.
ProDreamer3 1 year ago
@ProDreamer3 well azula aimed at katara...so he protected her and got hurt...zuko is the one who taught aang how to redirect a lightning attack...
bhermoth 1 year ago
@bhermoth REPEAT: I know that.

I kind of felt bad for Azula, Ursa probably thought that Ozai loved her more than Zuko, so she tried loving Zuko..and then they fight over the throne....drama and sorrow...
GUNDAM0ARCHE 1 year ago
It's hard for a cartoon show to be epic or emotional to the point where you get teary-eyed, but Avatar does both of these.. at the same time.

i must agree with @maiord18 but in a diffent way i loved the fact that zuko risked his life for katara. ROCK ON AVATAR!

@7RoMkA7 Its not even anime, its actually an american show. Which surprised me greatly, I must say.

@7RoMkA7 It's not an anime. It's a Western cartoon lol. It was influenced by Japanese art styles, but it in itself is unique and an incredible show! =)
legendarylink1000 1 year ago
@7RoMkA7 i also really liked that they didn't input the fight sound effects and covered it with music. took me a while to appreciate it, but it was a very good decision on behalf of the creators

@7RoMkA7 Best anime from American cartoon industries? Then yes.
seg162 8 months ago
@seg162 I know what you're thinking, and I've been watching Japanese made animes like Dragon Ball Z , which is awesome in its own right, but none of them touched me like Avatar did.
I've never before felt for characters like I did in this show. I don't know what it is... maybe it's just that fact that's it's so innocent. I makes you feel like a little kid with no worries.

@EdikShepherd I know, I feel exactly the same way.

one thing to say: this music is fucking EPICCCCCCCC
okay i lied i have more to say: every time i no im gonna hear this music, i jump up and down on my seat in anticipation this music says so much...that it really IS the LAST agni kai...its says that there is a winner and a loser and that this is a battle for the history books....the music during aang and ozais fight could have worked for this fight, but this music worked so much better I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS MUSIC GREAT JOB TRACK TEAM!!!!!

She's manipulative yet charming, a narcissist, and is a pathological liar (when Toph admitted she was 'pretty good' at lying) and can read body language easily (in the prison episode when she claimed she was a "people person").
she's interesting. I liked her. :)
Epona5 1 year ago 8
Azula was a freakin' psycho. The writers had no trouble making her an easily hatable character. I would have loved to seen her dead by the end of the series, but imprisonment works too.

@Snailmail78 Too bad we didn't get to actually see her in prison. I would've laughed.

WHY IT HAS TO END!?
The greatest anime ever.
Vini32 1 year ago 2
@Vini32 It isnt Anime but it was great none the less
fosho2007 1 year ago
@Vini32 Its not the greatest anime ever since Avatar: The Last Airbender is not from Japan, but from America, regardless of the fact that It has East and South Asian elements and possibly along with Native American elements(Water Tribe being highly similar to the Inuits and other Native American Tribes in real life). Because of this fact, Avatar: The Last Airbender is Not an anime. Though even if it is or is not an anime, Its still one of the greatest series I have ever seen.

@Vini32 There's gonna be a spin-off!
