Yes this tutorial was done slowly on purpose. I agree with you about the limitations of Lotus Notes, but when that is what your organization has, options are in this case limited.
We are looking into a program which will synchronize the lotus notes calendar with a Google calendar. That way, the Google calendar would be a global one and would allow for synchronizing with LN and also importing *ics files.
I understand this was done slowly with much explanation, but how much time does this really save you? LN really needs to allow users to click the ics file and have it add the notice directly to the user's calendar. This shouldn't need to be a how-to on YouTube. Nice job on finding a way to do it though. Any workaround with LN is helpful.
