It says the WCML is the only direct rail route between London and Glasgow? That's bullshit.. the East Coast Main Line goes from London's Kings Cross directly to Glasgow.
@moshrunners East coast is a lot faster aswell.If a train left Euston the same time another train leaves Kings cross,I bet the Kings cross would reach Glasgow about an hour earlier.
@sandsifter149 This, like most Discovery Channel programing was produced in Canada for broadcast all over the English speaking world, not just in the US. That's why there are subtitles when someone isn't speaking clear English.
Some nice filming but awful American commentary full of errors by a Yank . In Britain we use pounds not dollars!! A good proportion of the work was done midweek but the film gives the impression that it was only done at weekends.
@steamybrian > '.. errors by a Yank .. gives .. impression .. only done at weekends ..'
Both the Planning & Operations Director (at 2:22) and the Senior Operations Manager (at 7:05), both evidently Brits (not Yanks), suggested the primary work was done on weekends. The dollar value was provided for the targeted American viewing audience. Your programs often do the same (pound value) when discussing activities involving other currencies.
Why did they have subtitles for some of the people? I know it's a foriegn accent but if we started using subtitles on american shows some of them would get pretty anoyed?
hehehe, i see that a lot on american news mostly for any indian accents.
then i started seeing it for some thicker british accents thats when it got pretty obvious how isolated americans really are.
also funny when americans argue that your an idiot spelling things wrong over words changed for american use. "colour" is one that stands out in my mind.
@lejink Even funnier how you assume this is an American production. If you watch the credits at the end you will see that it was produced in Canada for Canadian TV. So who is "isolated" ?
Impressive... I wish we had a rail network like that in USA too... too much greed of politicians have landed them in the hands of oil, airlines, pharamceautical, and automobile industry.
Man, I love the Discovery Channel!

If the program is for the Canadian or US market, then prices would be in dollars so people can relate.

At about 0:20 the narrator says the WCML is 2672km long. WTF? It's barely 650km from London to Glasgow. Is that counting parallel track?
