  • Man, I love the Discovery Channel!

  • @raran44 they dropped the "Channel" from the name.

  • Brunel would of love it

  • May I use that Blueprint in Minecraft?

  • @PiFaceCanFlick Get real kid.

  • @jef2907

    What's wrong with you?

    *looks at profile*

    Oh...

  • erm they both do the west coast goes up the west side of england to glasgow and the other up the east side

  • It says the WCML is the only direct rail route between London and Glasgow? That's bullshit.. the East Coast Main Line goes from London's Kings Cross directly to Glasgow.

  • @moshrunners East coast is a lot faster aswell. If a train left Euston the same time another train leaves Kings cross,I bet the Kings cross would reach Glasgow about an hour earlier.

  • What?!! Subtiles...? Typical fukn yanks..!

  • @sandsifter149 This, like most Discovery Channel programing was produced in Canada for broadcast all over the English speaking world, not just in the US. That's why there are subtitles when someone isn't speaking clear English.

  • T2 Posessions used to close the railway under a green zone working

  • Indian Railway: 140 million passengers and more than 14 million tonnes of freight every week.

  • Some nice filming but awful American commentary full of errors by a Yank . In Britain we use pounds not dollars!! A good proportion of the work was done midweek but the film gives the impression that it was only done at weekends.

  • If the program is for the Canadian or US market, then prices would be in dollars so people can relate.

  • @steamybrian > '.. errors by a Yank .. gives .. impression .. only done at weekends ..'

Both the Planning & Operations Director (at 2:22) and the Senior Operations Manager (at 7:05), both evidently Brits (not Yanks), suggested the primary work was done on weekends. The dollar value was provided for the targeted American viewing audience. Your programs often do the same (pound value) when discussing activities involving other currencies.

  • 0.18 GNER didnt use the WCML :S?

  • @adamharrison43 They use or used to use Glasgow Central

  • @supershrek99 Oh right yea lol! Forgot about that

  • @adamharrison43 they did dude from london to glasgow ;)

  • Comment removed

  • I didn't know that the West Coast Mainline was the Biggest in Europe :O

  • At about 0:20 the narrator says the WCML is 2672km long. WTF? It's barely 650km from London to Glasgow. Is that counting parallel track?

  • Good subject matter, awful programme though.

  • Why did they have subtitles for some of the people? I know it's a foriegn accent but if we started using subtitles on american shows some of them would get pretty anoyed?

  • hehehe, i see that a lot on american news mostly for any indian accents.

then i started seeing it for some thicker british accents thats when it got pretty obvious how isolated americans really are.

also funny when americans argue that your an idiot spelling things wrong over words changed for american use. "colour" is one that stands out in my mind.

  • @lejink Even funnier how you assume this is an American production. If you watch the credits at the end you will see that it was produced in Canada for Canadian TV. So who is "isolated" ?

  • what are rouge locomotives?

  • You would think that the yank narrator could have taken the trouble to learn to pronounce Glasgow! jeez!

  • exellent!

-gdyby w Polsce tak naprawiali szlaki kolejowe, ehh...

  • beleive me it is expensive in a lt of cases its cheaper to fly there are no group discounts so families tend to avoid it altogether

  • Impressive... I wish we had a rail network like that in USA too... too much greed of politicians have landed them in the hands of oil, airlines, pharamceautical, and automobile industry.

  • trust me it's france's network you want, not Britain!
