F1 is like the motorsports version of soccer. Popular all around the world except in America, where we prefer more flashier forms of racing such as NASCAR and motocross.
I like all kinds of racing respectfully. But you people that think F1 is king....why don't you try driving a 3400lb car on 8 in slicks for 5 hrs and see how well you do at it. comparing nascar to F1 is comparing apples to oranges. Grow up, all racing is badass.
@DonCaraotica1693 Why is it that many drivers who come from F1 and Indy, being ignorant thinking that it's only circles. But yet most of these F1 and Indy car drivers can barely finish in the top 35 not 10+ laps down? But when Jeff Gordon drove Montoyas car for "fun", he ran competitive lap times.
@24thebeast I do not think NASCAR is just one run in circles, but in my professional opinion, the F1 in this comparison is much more car nascar's car (I'm not comparing the pilots). I'm not even a fan of F1.
@eurosceptic1 There's a difference between a stick shift in a road car in rush hour and a 850hp race car driving on the edge. Any idiot can drive a standard, only people with talent can drive a standard at it's full potential without killing it. @jockejocke1 I don't think they do, and I wasn't even thinking of the Red Bull thing. I was thinking it would be cool to see that because Sebastian has been the dominant driver in F1 in recent times and Johnson has been the dominant driver in NASCAR's recent times.

The problem with NASCAR is the points system. Winning doesn't really matter in NASCAR. The racing is great sometimes but there is no incentive for the drivers to go all out for the win because a crash hurts you much more than a win helps you. In NASCAR, winning races and winning championships are two totally different things.
and take all this from an experience stock car driver, thank you, and no disrespect to any one, f1 and NASCAR are both amazing, and i had fun in both cars driving them and racing them, but NASCAR is more difficult, and remember this name , Darrell Panther Hickman Jr. , thats my actual whole name, and i will be one of the top drivers to come, u can count on that baby

@xIIJoshIIx ok, so where in any of that id i say i was a pro. Pro's are people who are in the top of their profession, am i at the top yet, no because i just started
and about u f1 guys saying that your drivers are better because it takes skill to have a good reaction time because it is so fast, thats true compared to the stock car when ur just driving it around, but in race conditions, in f1 you get spaced out and it really isnt racing it is driving around, and dont get me wrong it does take skill at high speeds, but when ur racing in a NASCAR race, and there are cars on top of each other none stop for 6 hrs. u need far more reaction time than anything
not to mention that ive drove an f1 car and a stock car, and i do have to say that and f1 car was tougher than i expected, but the f1 car is like a dream, it pretty much does everything you want any race car to drive like. but the stock car overall was way more of a challenge
ok for you people who think that nascar is nothing but a bunch of rednecks, well if you ever go to a race, which i have been to many , ive seen many cubans, mexicans, rednecks, french, and some i dont even know where they come from, it was a lot of rednecks, but times have changed, i went to the daytona 500 this year and waiting for the race to start i met a whole family from the UK, and they said after the race that it was more exciting than f1 by far

Kubica can't drive a stick shift? WTF? That is an insult for every racing fan out there. Kubica is one of the best drivers and he drove a lot rally races, not to mention other races.
Whoever says he can't drive a stick car is full of shit.
that too caught me by surprise. no matter what motorsport i think its should be a law that they should learn stick shift. embarrassing for Kubica i have to say
Those who've missed it, should look up Lewis'lap on Top Gear's "reasonably piced car". He can stick shift just fine. Seriously, look it up, thank me later. That's a lap you need to see. Beats other F1 racer's dry times, on a wet track.
I FUCKING HATE LEWIS HAMILTON, AND NASCAR IS JUST STUPID!!! ALL YOU DO IS FACKING GO AROUND IN CIRCLES, GET A REAL SPORT YOU IDIOT FUCKHEAD ASS HOLE REDNECKS.
I think it's a shame reading some the ignorant and downright insulting comments by you so-called motorsports fans. Just look at for what it is....two guys that love to race taking turns in cars that are "foreign" to them. I don't think for one minute Lewis Hamilton doesn't like driving the NASCAR stockcar....you can tell that from the comments he's making over the radio.
kubica not used to use a stickshift?? are you kidding me?? hahaha! Sorry americans, you are the ones using 90% automatic cars, we europeans use 90% manual in real life. and these guys have all obviously raced with stickshifts in other categories and drive their everyday cars with stickshifts.
@Gordini616 i wasn't thinking so much in speed, but every mile and hour counts ... but more so acceleration and revs, it flys off from nothing and brakes back in no time
I love how americans how no concept of how refined and complicated an F1 car is. Compared to 'circle racing' it's an entirely different sport. Seeing that big old shed bouncing around is hilarious!
@LeeroyK2009 its funny to me watching a spoon going around the track to..i used to like f1 but now its so boring and the racing is so spread out and the f1 cars cant even catch up to the pace car when theres a yellow there is no racing at all in f1 thats why nascar is better cause they are inchest from eachother at all times and makes for better racing and they dont have to slow down for gay turns either...but the super spread out racing is why i dont ever watch f1 or indycars
@vindavison From what you've said, its clear for everyone to see that you lack even the most basic of intelligence, partcularly with your pathetic and ill informed F1 analogy.
I've tried hard though the previous parts not to say anything bad about the fact that the commentators talk like idiots, then they said they THINK Hamilton drives in the middle of an F1 car and implyed that he couldn't drive in a car with a MANUAL car (not 'stick shift' idiots) and without a roof over it. DO YOU THINK HE DOESN'T OWN A ROAD CAR YOU DUMB YANK!?
Spending your racing career in one style versus the other tends to breed habitual tendencies. I wouldn't call it arrogance as much as I would common sense. Take the time to look up Lewis' time behind the wheel of Senna's championship car, and it's easy to see that he isn't quite at home with a stick shift.
A bit ignorant to assume the commentator was saying Hamilton would have trouble with the "stick shift" because he's from the UK. Especially considering that wasn't the allegation. Dumbass.
@ConorG182 see most Formula 1 HARD CORE fans think that stockcar racing is easy. well they both are difficult in their own way. F1, Grip/high speed/tough courses. NASCAR, pack racing/low downforce/fast courses.
@LEGOxCraft32 Always though that F1s and other prototypes were "easy" cars to drive; they respond well to the driver, its the speed of execution and crazy G-forces that make it a challenge. "Stock" cars are inherently hard to drive because of low downforce-low traction.
@citiusaltiusfortiuz ya i mean it is just depends on where you feel comfortable as a driver. like Hamilton feels more comfortable in a open top High downforce car. Stewart feels more comfy in a "tin top" and with less downforce. thats why he left IndyCar
@LEGOxCraft32 oh, just learned nascar inboard temperatures get as hot as 150 F (65 C), that is 3-4 hours of cookin, drivin at 200 mph, comin out corners sideways, WOW
@citiusaltiusfortiuz Old people or fat people cant drive F1 cars, because they are HARD to drive. In NASCAR or INDY everyone can drive. That says all.
@Soulflytribe04 yah rite with all that downforce you have and computers controlling ur speed down pit road. Thats probably the first time Lewis drove a REAL car that weighs as much as him
Lets not forget, that Driving a Nascar in the wet is harder than Driving a F1 in the wet. F1 races in wet condition all the time, they have setups for that. Tony Stewart even said he hasn't driven in the wet for a decade! I don't think it takes more skill to drive a nascar than a F1, but Nascar isn't easy either.
I loved Lewis' little drifts out of that corner in the stock car - he loves oversteer & u can tell he wanted to give it the full beans. I was truely impressed with how he drove it as it was nothing hes ever been used to before especially on a new track & the conditions
As a massive F1 fan, this has made me more determined to try & understand nascar. Tony seems like a really decent bloke - both drivers did a great job & are fine ambassadors of their racing series.
@SupaSix1 I think you would enjoy it, it's a really exciting series, especially when the road courses come in to play. There's nothing better than a 2.5 mile oval
@Spiziked23@SupaSix1 I don't really like the smaller ovals, but when they go to Talladega and Daytona, you cannot beat the last 10 laps in those races. Just look at the 2011 Talladega finish. It was great racing.
I dont think Lewis will come to nascar until hes won more than a few titles in F1 first - But even I cant deny that he is definately impressed & I can imagine that at some point in his later career post F1 he will be in nascar - And I think it'd be fantastic.
You euro cum guzzlers. The seat you are looking at that Lewis Hamilton is sitting in is partially made of carbon fiber. NASCAR could let these guy build those race cars out of carbon fiber if they didn't care about the price of racing. It keeps more than 2 or 3 teams competitive. The safety implements in the cars and even around the tracks have done more than great for keeping those drivers safe. 3 years ago a guy hit nose first after losing traction at 185mph, rolled 8 times and walked out fine
@ChiefJive2448 The seats can also survive a 90-G crash. Its just costs too much money. Its a different type of psychology. We still have some of the best racing in the world and its getting more and more attention. obviously not as much as F1. 100million fans in the US non the less. Say what you want about us Americans. Your words don't stop us from trying to get your guys in our race cars and get even more attention from around the world. Elitist F1 fans are the scum of racing fandom.
them commentators are stupid. They said lewis has never driven a "tin tarp" (yes i know tin top). Yes he was born for F1 but im sure he wasnt born in a F1.
OH MAAA GAWD!! Driving on the side of the car. This has to be dun didddly new to Lewis. Oh wait, he doesnt drive his McLaren when he goes shopping in Switzerland..
@swimfreak430 I know bro what bullshit he doesnt know how to drive a stick shift hahaha You cant compare a F1 car with any race care only a fighter jet maybe haha
@MAJORleague32 clearly the english language is tough on your ears and mind as you can not see any relation between my comment and the video... or simply turn your speakers on.
@0208nalin I clearly understand what you were trying to convey. Saying that the stock car is just like driving a everyday normal car. Which is why i said your comment was dumb.
@MAJORleague32 it really isn't because there is a huge difference between driving a f1 car and a stock car i was just highlighting that the commentators thought Hamilton couldn't drive for shit but he's does this sort of thing before on Top Gear
@BeckMax I'm an F1 fan through and through but before the 2011 season that was pretty much true. Many races could become sleeping pills with few passes during the race itself, the passes came at the pit stops, so yeah it became boring sometimes. Now we have new tyres, DRS and KERS which help overtaking alot and thank god for that, F1 needed more overtaking. Nascar is awesome too, not so much a fan of it but it's fun to watch.
@0039073 your still protected in an F1 car too, the engine cover is alot taller than the driver so if the car does roll the driver never touches the ground
@0039073 but an f1 is waaay safer nascar is like what aluminum right but an f1 is total carbon fiber look for kubica f1 crash canada on youtube he only got a bad ankle and a very very light concussion
Regarding Shift sticks....In the USA 70-80% of the cars are Automatic gear box. In Europe that same percentage represents the stick shifts, so clearly European drivers are more used to Stick shift, or dont you think drivers have other cars apart from the ones they race with??
i was happy to see the mutual respect between these guys. wish the fans felt the same way. anyone with a brain should be able to appreciate both of these sports for what they are.
Lol, it would have been great if Tony crashed. "Oops, how much, 5million? Uh..."

kubica not used to use a stickshift?? are you kidding me?? hahaha! Sorry americans, you are the ones using 90% automatic cars, we europeans use 90% manual in real life. and these guys have all obviously raced with stickshifts in other categories and drive their everyday cars with stickshifts.

Lewis is probably thinking
"Fuck this thing is slow"
Haydinho21 8 months ago 10
@Haydinho21 Nascar is not far off F1 speed. Going about 190 mostly in a Nascar, probably about 210 in F1
Gordini616 8 months ago
@Gordini616 i wasn't thinking so much in speed, but every mile and hour counts ... but more so acceleration and revs, it flys off from nothing and brakes back in no time
Haydinho21 8 months ago
@Haydinho21 Probably. Thing weighs 3 times as much, no shit it's slower.
CannibalDave 4 months ago
@CannibalDave I know that, but i ment in the context of the fact Lewis races in the F1 car, so this is 'slow' then what he is used to
Haydinho21 4 months ago
@Haydinho21 yea, maybe its becuz he does not kno how to control all 900 horses under acceleration yet....
limbeboy7 4 months ago
@limbeboy7 The F1 car accelerates faster ... so that should be piss easy to 'control'
Haydinho21 4 months ago
I love how americans how no concept of how refined and complicated an F1 car is. Compared to 'circle racing' it's an entirely different sport. Seeing that big old shed bouncing around is hilarious!
LeeroyK2009 8 months ago
@LeeroyK2009 its funny to me watching a spoon going around the track to..i used to like f1 but now its so boring and the racing is so spread out and the f1 cars cant even catch up to the pace car when theres a yellow there is no racing at all in f1 thats why nascar is better cause they are inchest from eachother at all times and makes for better racing and they dont have to slow down for gay turns either...but the super spread out racing is why i dont ever watch f1 or indycars
vindavison 8 months ago
@vindavison gay turns? lol. so making it more complicated is gay? i ve tried to watch nascar 5 minutes and it s unbearable, nothing happens..
augustinf 8 months ago
@augustinf TV makes it look that way. Live there's stuff going on all over the place.
roguelead72 8 months ago
@vindavison From what you've said, its clear for everyone to see that you lack even the most basic of intelligence, partcularly with your pathetic and ill informed F1 analogy.
Kribby2k6 8 months ago
@vindavison I agree, the powers at be are crippling the sport, and whilst safety is obviously important so is the sport of it.
I think the reason alot of people watch nascar is for the crashes, which is sad.
LeeroyK2009 8 months ago
I've tried hard though the previous parts not to say anything bad about the fact that the commentators talk like idiots, then they said they THINK Hamilton drives in the middle of an F1 car and implyed that he couldn't drive in a car with a MANUAL car (not 'stick shift' idiots) and without a roof over it. DO YOU THINK HE DOESN'T OWN A ROAD CAR YOU DUMB YANK!?
billabongzilla 8 months ago
A bit ignorant to think a UK driver is gonna have trouble with a 'stick shift' but hey its america after all
ConorG182 8 months ago 14
@ConorG182 lol too true
LeeroyK2009 8 months ago
@ConorG182
Spending your racing career in one style versus the other tends to breed habitual tendencies. I wouldn't call it arrogance as much as I would common sense. Take the time to look up Lewis' time behind the wheel of Senna's championship car, and it's easy to see that he isn't quite at home with a stick shift.
bullmilk 7 months ago
@ConorG182
A bit ignorant to assume the commentator was saying Hamilton would have trouble with the "stick shift" because he's from the UK. Especially considering that wasn't the allegation. Dumbass.
CannibalDave 6 months ago

@ConorG182 This has very little to do with national stereotypes. It has more to do with the motorsport discipline.
thisisbadstuff 6 months ago
@ConorG182 Hehe no on in Europe drives automatics. As you know.
sultanabran1 6 months ago
@ConorG182 see most Formula 1 HARD CORE fans think that stockcar racing is easy. well they both are difficult in their own way. F1, Grip/high speed/tough courses. NASCAR, pack racing/low downforce/fast courses.
LEGOxCraft32 5 months ago 19
@LEGOxCraft32 Always though that F1s and other prototypes were "easy" cars to drive; they respond well to the driver, its the speed of execution and crazy G-forces that make it a challenge. "Stock" cars are inherently hard to drive because of low downforce-low traction.
citiusaltiusfortiuz 5 months ago
@citiusaltiusfortiuz ya i mean it is just depends on where you feel comfortable as a driver. like Hamilton feels more comfortable in a open top High downforce car. Stewart feels more comfy in a "tin top" and with less downforce. thats why he left IndyCar
LEGOxCraft32 5 months ago
@LEGOxCraft32 oh, just learned nascar inboard temperatures get as hot as 150 F (65 C), that is 3-4 hours of cookin, drivin at 200 mph, comin out corners sideways, WOW
citiusaltiusfortiuz 5 months ago
@citiusaltiusfortiuz Old people or fat people cant drive F1 cars, because they are HARD to drive. In NASCAR or INDY everyone can drive. That says all.
Soulflytribe04 4 months ago
@Soulflytribe04 yah rite with all that downforce you have and computers controlling ur speed down pit road. Thats probably the first time Lewis drove a REAL car that weighs as much as him
TheStockCarStig 4 months ago

Lets not forget, that Driving a Nascar in the wet is harder than Driving a F1 in the wet. F1 races in wet condition all the time, they have setups for that. Tony Stewart even said he hasn't driven in the wet for a decade! I don't think it takes more skill to drive a nascar than a F1, but Nascar isn't easy either.
Aranu 8 months ago
I am surprised Tony could get into the F1 tight cockpit!
vicbel 8 months ago
I loved Lewis' little drifts out of that corner in the stock car - he loves oversteer & u can tell he wanted to give it the full beans. I was truely impressed with how he drove it as it was nothing hes ever been used to before especially on a new track & the conditions
As a massive F1 fan, this has made me more determined to try & understand nascar. Tony seems like a really decent bloke - both drivers did a great job & are fine ambassadors of their racing series.
Great event.
SupaSix1 8 months ago 25
@SupaSix1 Glad to see someone that actually sees that any racing series is different and difficult in their own ways
MAJORleague32 8 months ago
@SupaSix1 It's nice to here open minded comments about the different racing series. If it's fast, it's good! Cheers!
gjb16 7 months ago
@SupaSix1 I think you would enjoy it, it's a really exciting series, especially when the road courses come in to play. There's nothing better than a 2.5 mile oval
Spiziked23 6 months ago
@Spiziked23 @SupaSix1 I don't really like the smaller ovals, but when they go to Talladega and Daytona, you cannot beat the last 10 laps in those races. Just look at the 2011 Talladega finish. It was great racing.

stinngs120 8 months ago
@stinngs120
I dont think Lewis will come to nascar until hes won more than a few titles in F1 first - But even I cant deny that he is definately impressed & I can imagine that at some point in his later career post F1 he will be in nascar - And I think it'd be fantastic.

F1 > NASCAR
vsdavidxl 8 months ago 2
You euro cum guzzlers. The seat you are looking at that Lewis Hamilton is sitting in is partially made of carbon fiber. NASCAR could let these guy build those race cars out of carbon fiber if they didn't care about the price of racing. It keeps more than 2 or 3 teams competitive. The safety implements in the cars and even around the tracks have done more than great for keeping those drivers safe. 3 years ago a guy hit nose first after losing traction at 185mph, rolled 8 times and walked out fine
ChiefJive2448 8 months ago
@ChiefJive2448 The seats can also survive a 90-G crash. Its just costs too much money. Its a different type of psychology. We still have some of the best racing in the world and its getting more and more attention. obviously not as much as F1. 100million fans in the US non the less. Say what you want about us Americans. Your words don't stop us from trying to get your guys in our race cars and get even more attention from around the world. Elitist F1 fans are the scum of racing fandom.

@MAJORleague32 clearly the english language is tough on your ears and mind as you can not see any relation between my comment and the video... or simply turn your speakers on.
thanks
0208nalin 8 months ago
@0208nalin I clearly understand what you were trying to convey. Saying that the stock car is just like driving a everyday normal car. Which is why i said your comment was dumb.
MAJORleague32 8 months ago
@MAJORleague32 it really isn't because there is a huge difference between driving a f1 car and a stock car i was just highlighting that the commentators thought Hamilton couldn't drive for shit but he's does this sort of thing before on Top Gear
0208nalin 8 months ago
if you can drive a formula 1 car like Lewis Hamilton, you can drive any car in the world better than anyone else

F1, the most boring form of racing there is. Passing only happens in the pits. lol.
kingpins9 8 months ago
@kingpins9 Boring?? You haven't seen F1 it seems.
BeckMax 8 months ago 2
@BeckMax I'm an F1 fan through and through but before the 2011 season that was pretty much true. Many races could become sleeping pills with few passes during the race itself, the passes came at the pit stops, so yeah it became boring sometimes. Now we have new tyres, DRS and KERS which help overtaking alot and thank god for that, F1 needed more overtaking. Nascar is awesome too, not so much a fan of it but it's fun to watch.
VuDu4000 8 months ago
i rather be a nascar driver then a f1 driver because in f1 your head is out in the air and in a nascar car your whole body is protected
0039073 8 months ago
@0039073 your still protected in an F1 car too, the engine cover is alot taller than the driver so if the car does roll the driver never touches the ground
BigDaveNeg 8 months ago
@BigDaveNeg but your head is still not protected much

@0039073 watch the vid of mark webber when he flips his f1 car in valencia 2010 he lands upside down and he was fine
wutangkillabeez1 8 months ago
@0039073 but an f1 is waaay safer nascar is like what aluminum right but an f1 is total carbon fiber look for kubica f1 crash canada on youtube he only got a bad ankle and a very very light concussion

A stock car is all steel, with a plastic nose. (not carbon-preg plastic, mind you...it's like a thick plastic Coke bottle!)
iceman83458345 8 months ago
Also in the USA your gear selector (drive, reverse, neutral...) is behind the steering wheel, in Europe its where the shift stick is.
MrXaxo86 8 months ago
Regarding Shift sticks....In the USA 70-80% of the cars are Automatic gear box. In Europe that same percentage represents the stick shifts, so clearly European drivers are more used to Stick shift, or dont you think drivers have other cars apart from the ones they race with??
