Loud is good, so long as you can still hear your favorites tunes cruisin down the highway. In response to some comments, my '87 Vette has been with Sanderson header's and HOLLOWED out Cat, NO muffler's (Ca. living) for 5 yrs. now. Never stopped for being too loud. Just put a Cat on for smog purposes when required.
how are the emissions affected by removing the cats > do you know the numbers by any chance ? i would love to try this on my own c4 vette, but it would probably be illegal here in ireland

Ha, I'll do that. I literally got pulled over 30 min ago for the exhaust being too loud. Cop was cool and into corvettes - no ticket or warning.
