  • nothing 10W30 motor oil for engine Dohc Vtec C30 OR C32 and others Honda Vtec engine optimal quality oil preconized 0W40 or 0W50

  • it always better to change oil hot

  • nice ride guy

  • I enjoyed the video. In reading the comments about oil and filters, I have to laugh. Everyone is so biased. I have used the cheap Fram all my life (72) with many miles without any problems. I use the more expensive Frams now. I have used conventional oil (Castrol) all my life without any problems. I just switched to a very good synthetic oil (could change brands). Don't make me feel guilty for using Fram. Just change the oil and filter with good ones at the proper time. lol.

  • this is a great video but who doesnt know how to change oil

  • "...You can tab it with a screw driver and twist it off...

but you really don't want to do that.."

Buh.. wait then why did you say.. i could... take..

    haha, cool vid!

  • sorry ...about oil I only use Castrol on my Sentra Mobil1 and Motul are also good :)

  • theres no need to remove the oil cap before draining as nearly all crankcases are vented somewhere and a hot drain is the best way to remove all sediments from your engine. at least you ditched that fram filter for a honda, seeing as its an nsx an all

  • I understand some people have a lot of money to spare for muscle cars.

  • I always change the oil in my Accord and believe me, you don't want to change the oil when the engine is hot! Operating temperature is fine too but I'd wait a few minutes to let cool the oil down a bit, hot oil on your skin isn't good.

  • Great Video

  • Who uses Royal Purple in this economy? Not me. It costs too much and really isn't necessary unless driving a performance car.

  • @lordbemylight I think a NSX qualifies as a performance car, don't you?

  • Comment removed

  • @palillo2006 Yeah it does, and it's a nice car, and Royal Purple/Mobil 1/Amsoil would be perfect for it. I just find personally that it isn't very necessary for 'regular' cars like mine. Minivans and pickups would be ok for it though.

  • who the fuck uses a fram filter on a nsx wtf thats retarded....

  • @likess I was about to write the same think, lol

  • You guys are stupid. You can jack an nsx from the back you idiot. Don't tell people what to do when you've never owned one before.

  • Fram wtf. Shameful

  • Why was there a fram oil filter on an NSX? That's like bitch slapping you mom.

  • Wow rick! u cant used a regular torque wrench in the nsx. this guy giving false information hahaha. when u torque the bolt used OEM spec.

  • should have taken the oil filter off. Why are you using crappy honda filter?? Go pureone. Redline and Amsoil > royal purple. Group V base FTW

  • some years ago i had to use the screw driver technic

  • @pdaniel8

i done that once on my civic 8 years ago.. hahaha but it worked

  • "Ideally, you want to do this when the engine's cool, that way you don't burn yourself." False sir, it is ALWAYS better to do it with engine at operating temperature. This is because almost all the contaminates are still "suspended" in the oil and will drain out with it. If you let it cool first, the oil will still be dark, but a good majority contaminates will "settle out" of the oil and will remain in the engine. So you get a less effective oil change. Otherwise great video an good tips.

  • Oh man, I can't believe he jacked up the NSX in the back like that. You should never do that. That's sheet aluminum and muffler piping there. Better to use the jacking points on the side.

  • Royal Purple is not the number one quality oil on the market, nor is it the most expensive.

  • I'm another one who is amazed a Fram found its way onto an NSX.

  • @anx1300c waaaaaaaittt wait wait whats wrong with framskies??

  • be sure to warm the engine for a few min not cold or the oil will not run

  • That Acura NSX is hot.

  • well at least you got rid of the fram.....

  • fram filter on nsx lol!

  • clippernation!

  • Fram oil filter on a NSX? damn....

  • WHAT the HELL!!! fram on an nsx, that is a sin in my religion!

  • @EthansOpinion92 oil is not rocket science.. all oil is good i dont know why people make a big deal over oil as long as you do it every 3000 k it really does not mater what oil you use as long as its name brand

  • @mauiboypoi fram oil filters are literally card board, have you ever torn one apart and looked at it? that card board can break apart and get into your engine.

  • @EthansOpinion92 and this why you change your oil every 3000k not every year

  • @EthansOpinion92 i have never bought a fram oil filter and knew nothing about it and after what you said i looked up some vids on youtube and your right they r a peace of shit.. sorry about that

  • @mauiboypoi every one has gotta learn haha no worries, just try to stay away from those

  • @EthansOpinion92 i usually buy what the dealer recommends so i have never bought a fram oil filter,, thats what i always say just go with the stuff that the dealer put in when it was new .. i know bosch spark plugs are like buying death for your car i had two spark plugs brake on my ford explorer the tip when inside the piston two times and some how it did not cause any real damage.. but yea bosch is the worst ever...

  • @mauiboypoi yeah ive heard about that, its funny cuz everything bosch makes is absolutely amazing, accept plugs, hahah its like your paying for the name, for no reason at all

  • @mauiboypoi hey bud you come here pretendin ur a pro or somethin! so u replied to me sayin oil does not deteriorate it only picks up metal shavings from engine, you sir are a MORON , you are talking to a mechanical engineer! if u were right, explain to me why does oil color change, it BURNSSSSSSS it chemically changes, conteneous high temperatures, pressure and friction brakes down hydro-carbon molecules oil is made up of to byproducts thats are not as efficient in lubricating....

  • @mauiboypoi if the only thing that ruins oil is metal shavings then a filter should be good for keeping oil good for ever ! oil deteriorates with time and use , and especially faster in high revving and turbo engines, turbos use oil to cool down and lubricate and unless you want to throw ur turbo bearing, change ur oil regurerly on turbos and 7k plus revvers, but in ur case i just think that ur a kid that has been around some forums that think he knows shit and still drives moms volve

  • Wow, a fram oil filter, tell me that was a prop just for laughs.

  • @Amiga3000 who cares it does not matter there all built the same dear lord people really know nothing about oil

  • Comment removed

  • @mauiboypoi Wow, I would never has spoken those words, Google 31190-oil-filters-dissected.

and keep in-mind that these are the "higher end" filters made by fram. Dissections of the entry level filters like the one shown in this video are harder to find as fram's layers usually shutdown the website and sue the people who show the internals of their oil filters. Look at the Wix and then look at fram's offerings. The fram filter looks like a 5year old's construction paper project. All the same?

  • Engine should be warmed up when changing oil in order to reduce viscosity and to drain as much dirty oil as possible from the engine. There is an increased risk of burn but if you're not a dumbass, you should be fine.

  • @kalit8001 its oil he is putting in there its not a big deal... if you do your oil change every 3000 k it shouldn't even matter

  • @mauiboypoi You're right, it shouldn't matter. BUT you have a better chance of eliminating any contaminates in the old oil by draining as much it as possible. Having a warm engine helps to do that. Why do something half-assed, when you can do it the correct way and be better off because of it? Better safe than sorry.

  • @kalit8001 if you drive a newer car and do a oil change every 3k miles the oil your draining out should be pretty clean in the first place i think the best thing to do is every year or so change your oil drive it for a week and then trow some seafom in the oil and drive it for 1 maybe 2 days and change your oil again then you have a clean engine again also seafoming the intake helps a lot.. a

  • @mauiboypoi Why not just change the oil the proper way in the first place? New or otherwise. Oil IS a big deal, unlike your post says above. Oil is the blood of the engine. Use quality oil, and change it regularly with the engine WARMED UP and you shouldn't even have to use seafoam. Why spend the extra time, energy, and money of changing your oil twice in one week plus the cost of the seafoam, when you could have just done it properly in the first place...c'mon man, Think about it.

  • @kalit8001 that what have been saying read all my comments i said on all of them just change your oil every 3k..if you do so the oil should be clean when it comes out like it should and you dont have to drain it while the engine is warm.. good people like to argue so much...

  • Used Royal Purple but throw on a fram filter LOL. Well to be fair Fram does make some OEM civic filter...

  • Woop my bad, I didn't read the caption I on;y looked at the late model fixed-stlye projector conversion headlights on your JH4NA1132T(T or S)000001 which has the 3.0L DOHC VTEC V6 (again, my bad) C30A engine. BTW how much mileage on your rick-daddy rice whip son?

  • BTW I'm rockin' my FG2 with a currently stock K20Z3, currently saving for my first mod which is the 1,500$ Mugen sports exhaust system, so can't wait for that!

  • BTW another good oil filter out there made by HAMP Synergy (Honda Aftermarket Performance products) is the: H1540-RTA-505, but a simple 15400-PLM-A02 will do fine for most 4-pot Hondas and Acuras. You can find those HAMP o/fs on ebay, they have a bright-green color to them instead of blue like the Honda filters, so ask a Honda dealer or just go on ebay, that's where I bought mine.

  • I know it's something like $9 for one of those Honda oil filters, but like a wise man once said "it's cheaper to change your oil than to change your super-rare C32B" am I right or am I right?

  • Rickdaddy, I can't believe you used a FRAM oil filter on your NSX, that's friggin' blasphemy, I should shun you from the "Realm of Honda Samurai" for that one, but a simple facepalm on your behalf would do fine! I mean a FRAM filter? They are The WORST in the industry, WORST oil filter (period)!

I'm glad to see you installed a 15400-PCX-000( or is it -AO1, whatever the part number is, same for S2Ks as well)

  • if you own a NSX, you woulnt be watching this video lol.

  • You shouldn't use a Fram filter on that car.

  • He says to change the oil when the engines cool..thats not true! You want to change the oil when its hot, this helps to drain all the sludge and gunk thats accumulated in your engine!

  • My Honda dealership changes the oil and oil filter for 12.99. I think I'd save more money if I just go there.

  • that oli is pretty clean. another 1000 or 1500 left on it

  • Very professional, great job.

  • Taking the oil cap off will make loosening of the oil pan nut much harder, do you guys or gals do that?

  • Very imformative, love the nsx.

  • i like this video but it is better to take a spin around the block and its hot and then open the bolt of the oil pan but you said you change it every 3 months even if you dont drive at all so i guess its ok and i dont put oil in the oil filter but i like how you change the washer.

  • don't dump it down the toilet, LMAO, never even thought about that

  • Good video, helpful info

  • Use the K&N oil filter - It has a nut built into the filter body end and it just flat outperforms all other filters. Install one and see...

  • the oil is damn good ... brown and see-through .. what the hell is this guy doing ??

  • Nice brake rotor.

  • @lordbemylight Those rotors aren't as good as they look. The slots are great but the drilled holes become weak spots under mega-heat.

  • @trainlinezoo That's why who wants to waste money for these 'specialty' rotors?

  • dude,i bet your good at street fighter 2 also

  • So I love the fact that he mentions how synthetic is better & spends the extra money on better oil, BUT the guy uses a piece of Sh%t Fram oil filter on his car, no less A PERFORMANCE ENGINE! WTF! Then goes & buys an OEM Honda Filter which have Fram/Honeywell guts inside the Filter.

  • @lightningsmokerXx LOL I'd suggest he'd use a high-performance oil filter. And what? I never knew Honda had FRAM stuff in it. That's a shocker.

  • Comment removed

  • Omg a nasty old Fram ...now that's a nasty little bugger right there.

  • 10w-30?

  • wow, the RP is still purple when he's draining it....lol

  • i never they recycle oil for free

  • on my nsx i always take the sump plug out make sure its warm and as its emptying take the filter off, but was told some where to open the oil filler cap for easyer draining

    thx amo

  • And for those of you who don't have a big fancy garage with a nice flat floor (like me), for the love of God, block your wheels! Use a brick, a 2x4 or your moms Chihuahua, I don't care, just DO IT! Nothing is more fun than loosing grip on the floor jack handle trying to keep you car from rolling down the driveway and ending up in your neighbors bedroom. Don't trust your parking brake by itself. Your never too cool or to busy to not do it.

  • i see some toyo T1-Rs and are those stacy's side skirts ? cool car btw

  • lol synthetic is always better he says. disagree

  • Dude that NSX is filthy! It's prolly the only honda i'd want to own, and i've wanted one for a while, so i got a z32 twinturbo instead lol

  • The engine is supposed to be warm when you change it. The hotter the oil the thinner it gets so when you drain it warm it flows better and more gets drained out.

  • The purpose of draining your oil when it is hot has nothing to do with it draining faster.. it's to ensure the excess contaminates that have settled at the bottom of the oil pan are mixed in the oil and drain out properly as to not contaminate the new oil..

  • OMG! Who the hell put a Fram oil filter on that beautiful piece of Honda engineering?!?!? Good see it was replaced with OEM.

  • Seriously!

  • @Audioquest56 honda filters are frams

  • @cartmankk2 Some Honda filters are Frams. The Honda A02 filter is made by Honeywell (Fram), but the A01 is made by Filtech and the filter specified for the NSX is manufactured by Toyo Roki in Japan. Putting the crappiest orange-can-of-death Fram on an NSX is pure sacrilege and dangerous considering those pieces of junk have cardboard endcaps.

  • @Audioquest56 no engine deserves a fram

  • Good job boyeee!!

  • 2:46 happened to me : /

  • i dont know what motor oil this person is

using, but it must be bad quality if it

has to be changed every three months.

modern engine oils can go well over this

without any risk to your motor.

  • @xank11 royal purple is the number one oil quality on the market and the most expensive! i agree 3 month way too frequent ! but when ur running a twinturbo V6 on NSX or like me ( 3000gt ) you better change oil to keep ur engine running perfectly, turbos make oil deteriorate faster!

  • Number one oil for what? Autozone customers?

  • @mmarmash redline and amsoil kick the shit out of royal purple, you just keep putting that purple dinosaur in your car and stain the inside of the engine with purple dye.

  • @pyromonster99 all oil is the same

  • @mauiboypoi really? do you even know what group II, II+,III, IV, base stocks are? do you know what ester base stock is? cus thats what makes all oils different jack-arse!

  • @mmarmash oil doesent deteriorate it gets contaminated, with petrol and stuff from your motor like metal.. and 3000 miles is perfect your oil does not have to be black before you change it . the whole purpose is to have clean oil.. no such ting as deteriorated oil.. oil never goes bad it just gets contaminated

  • @mmarmash i like royal purple but its not #1 or the most expensive go buy a quart of AMS oil youl pay about $10-$15

  • you drained and then tighten the drain plug while the car was still up on jack stands in the rear which means that not all of the oil was drain, now you have to do the job again, always drain the oil when the car is level!

  • #1 Asian hand

    I like it, clear video

    Yeah...Royal purple

I change for my 2001 Toyota Tacoma 3.4L...I like it so much, the engine much smooth than Mobil 1 Synthetic.

  • what kind of wheels is that? and the size?

  • very good tip!

  • Couple things:

-For starters 3 months or 3000miles is overkill in A LOT of cases

-Its generally better to have a warm engine so that the oil flows a little easier when draining.

-Noobs: USE A TORQUE WRENCH when tightening the drain plug (usually 30lb-ftish). Damaging those threads will ruin your day.

Preference, but I leave the plug out until after I remove the oil filter. When you break the seal on the filter you'll find that you can get a short surge out the drain as well.

  • Why would oil drain better when hot? Its gets thicker when it warms up. 3k mile oil change is not overkill if you are hard on your vehicle.

  • It dose not get thick when warmed up, but it dose expand as do all things when they get warm. Thats why race car drivers check the level when the oil is warm. Some use thinner oil weight in the winter and a heavier in the summer.

  • @iVTECInside

You should also torque your wheels unless you want your wheels to fall while driving.

  • Thanks for the video...great video i think!!!

  • Good video. But Y did u not use a royal purple oil filter w/ rp oil. To make it work alot better.

  • i heard that the honda oil filter is the best for the nsx because of the high oil pressure

  • Hey..Bro/sis

    We're Doan

    Are you Vietnamese?

  • i love nsx

  • wow a fram! on an NSX! wow!

  • Nice Works.

  • Good video, particularly the bi about checking that the filter o-ring didn't stick to the mounting plate.

Dude, what are you doing with an Orange Can of Death on your car?? Have you seen the insides of those things? Yikes! What brand was the new blue one?

  • the new one is an OEM Honda filter.

  • not a fram

  • Dude do not stop doing vids, you are very good, very easy to understand.

    AAA+

    Keep going

  • awesome video man

what type of engine does this acura have?

    V6? or V8?

  • this Acura has V6

  • thx for the info :)

  • no problem, glad to help :)

  • in fact all Acura's are either 4cyl's or 6 cylinder's ..during the 90's, the Acura Vigor had a 5 cylinder engine

  • "cold" in the middle of summer is fine. cold in the winter = no oil is going to drain out. well in canada anyhow lol

  • IDEALLY, you want to do it while the engine is warmed up so you can get all the particles out, if there are any...

But being MR, I see why you want it cooled off. :-D

  • I was wondering if u can find a much longer oil filter and u have the clearance can u use a different filter?

  • that nsx is hot

  • I have a 97 NSX, just wondering how did you do the 2001+ NSX headlight or front conversion your NSX? That's pretty sick. Keep up the good work guys.

  • I'd rather change my oils every 5000 miles instead and make damn sure I use synthetic oil rather than cheap out on something best suited for lawnmowers. Non-synthetic in a performance car? Please.

  • FRAM OIL FILTER RAGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!1

    fucking mother fuyhn deusche train

  • royal purple you fucking faggot

  • Well done, very informative.

  • Agreed. not like those useless "expert" village videos

  • Hey man thanks for the great vid and sweet ride by the way!!!

  • I have a good feeling about this!!!!!!!!!! the show i mean!

  • pretty knowledgeable, except if u cannot get ur oil filter off, run the engine until the oil is hot an it will be easier to take off. obviously you have to do this be4 u drain the oil. i always crack the oil filter loose while the motor is hot. then do everything else.

  • friends don't let friends use fram oil filters

  • thank you fram oil filters have the highest rate of failures(callapsing). they make it seem like they are awesome or the best. so all the newbs think that they are using something good. factory manufacture filter FTW.

  • haha agreed!

  • Good job

  • i can change the oil on my nsx with my eyes close.............

  • Thanks so much for this video =)

  • thanks help ful

  • Forget ASE. I'm a mechanical engineer, and take it form me... You want to drain your oil after you go for a drive. The engine needs to be warm when draining the oil.

It shouldn't be done any other way.

If you think draining oil when its hot is dangerous, hire somebody to do it for you.

  • such a freakin badass car!!!

  • Wrong. You want to change it when the engine is hot. That way the all the oil comes out.

  • It's too dangerous when it's hot. You can burn yourself.

  • You are incorrect. Wear safety glasses and latex gloves if you think it's too dangerous.

If you do it right you won't hardly get any oil on yourself.

  • Your wrong. Metal parts are hot. On some cars, the oil filter is in such a tight space you can't help touch some parts of the engine.

Be safe everyone and do this when the engine is cold. JUST LIKE THE VIDEO!

  • Yes, engines are hot. Oil filters are not always easy either. But you are wrong. If you change the oil when your engine is cold, you will not get all the oil out. The viscosity of oil is different when it is cold than hot. It flows slower when cold. You want the oil to be hot so the little pieces of metal and other debris are in the oil and not settled in the bottom of the pan.

I am an ASE certified mechanic. I and everyone where I work changes oil when the engine is warm, not cold.

  • When the engine is hot oil is everywhere. You will have to wait longer for all the oil to drip out.

ASE doesn't mean shit. The same dumb asses at Pep boys are all ASE certified.

  • You change the oil when warm, not cold, it doesn't have to be hot.

  • first off my first mechanic job was at pepboys, and u do not have to be ASE certified. second, people throw around the phrase "ASE certified" alot. Okay, there are 8 core ASE certifications, so people need to be a bit more specific. if u have all 8 then u are master certified. ASE certified does mean shit. the tests are hard (but a bit outdated). for the engine tests they ask questions that only a skilled mechanic would know. so if we could please give ASE certification a bit more respect!

  • can u guys do a video on how to change a Timing Belt
