Where I would go if I had a trime machine and go back in time! On the doorstep of a history a would rewrite much of the world's future both then and now and forever....
iv just come back from liverpool and i went to the cavern , but its a replicer and where the stage is , is not where the original stage is ......... as my mum is in a wheelchair we went frew the back entrance and saw the original place were the greats stood ...... could of cried
part of pete's sacking was down to him not having the right image for the group. ringo had a good musical background coming from a band prior to the beatles
@APS129 Pete's drumming and image was good enough for over 2 years when no one else wanted to be with John, Paul and George. Johnny Hutchinson, drummer of the big three was good friends with Best but was quoted as saying he thought the other three Beatles were "not worth a carrot". Best was used by the other three Beatles to further their career, then they ditched him as soon as fame came their way. Ringo only joint for money. No matter how anyone tries to make light of it, that is the truth.
The very good documentary "The Compleat Beatles" (sic) discusses Pete's departure from the band. When they were first recording with George Martin, he told the band he wanted a better drummer for the sessions. He told the band they could do what they want for the official band, but for the recording session they were going to use another drummer. Ringo was the best in the area, so they got him. The band then decided to officially replace Pete with Ringo, even though PB was well-liked.
This song written by Lieber & Stoller - One of Ringo's first gigs as the official new drummer. George has a black eye in that clip, he was just fist fighting with someone in the audience over Pete Best's ouster. You can hear members of the crowd shouting "we want Pete!" - Pete was not as good as Ringo for the Beatles in so many ways, but the way they kicked him out was pretty low. You can see their side of the story in the DVDs of "Anthology" and Pete discusses it on his own video.
in a documentary regarding the beatles, the comentator, said that pete was replace by the beatles not because pete was a bad drummer but because ringo fited more with the beatles, for starters ,lets start with the hair, anyways, my first song on learning to play my drums was, love me do,back in the day, peace out
they all look so young. oh what would i do for these first days. here they were happy just playing at a club. oh the good old days. i wish i could have seen them here. but then that means i would have had to be born like 45 years before the year i was actually born. darn.
I'm going to visit Liverpool this year but I don't expect that the original Cavern ist still there... anyway I hope to have a wonderfull time there and to see a lot of beautifull places/musea in Liverpool @ The Beatles. RESPECT!!!!
The original Cavern Club is now a parking lot directly across the street from the "new" Cavern Club. Most tourists are led to believe that what they are seeing is the "real" Cavern Club that The Beatles played in, but in reality they probably parked their tour bus on top of where it used to be. There's only a small plaque that mentions the parking lot as having been the original Cavern Club that The Beatles actually played in as opposed to the new venue.
No, it's not, sadly both it and the Marquee were demolished, but luckily the Cavern has been rebuilt across the street from where it used to be (the old one is now a parking lot), but Liverpool is immensely beautiful, anyway, I fell in love with it when I was there! And yes, there is very much a Beatles vibe, and after watching the first episode of the anthology, you should be able to track down a lot of great places!
Ringo joined Aug 18 and they played in Birkenhead. The 19th they played the Cavern (George got a black eye from a Pete fan). Then Aug. 20th in Crewe. Then a day off. The BBC made this film on the 22nd because they wanted footage of a locally popular band. This would have been great publicity, but the sound was bad so the BBC didn't show this film until years later when the band was world famous. It gets cut off on this tape, but after the guy says "we want Pete" a girl yells "Ringooo!"
yep, but the most interesting thing is that a full concert of them at cavern was recorded, paul owns it but it's unreleased, even completely unbotlegged, impossible to get, well if you don't want to steal it from pauls home at least.
i've played there great place !!! :P

From what I understand, Pete WAS a better drummer. Ringo just fitted in better with the group.
