Uyghurs and Uzbeks are pretty much the same. Currently, Uyghurs are located in North west of China. Before occupation of China, Uyghurs were located on eastern part of Turkistan. That's why the name of the country, before occupation was called Republic of Eastern Turkistan. Uzbeks were part of that Turkistan before the occupation of USSR. At least I hope you guys are enjoying your independence :)

I was lucky to visit Xinjiang and see performances like this... I loved the Uyghur people I met - they were friendly and bright and cultured.
I dreamed of being kidnapped by a Uygur ladies dance group, but sadly it never happened :)
