  • This must be the most underrated song in rock n roll. How could anyone leave this off of Rumours?!?

  • @gonzoredux ~ I have NO idea! It is an amazing song. Thanks for commenting :)

  • I remember seeing the photos of Stevie Nicks on the album cover of Rumors. Wasn't really that familiar w/ the group. She was smoking hot!

  • LOVE this song. Check out my cover :)

  • ONE OF THE BEST LOVE SONG'S YET!!

  • do people actually love each other this much anymore? im not feelin it

  • @twentyfour501 Agreed.....check out "you can close your eyes" by james taylor/carly simon...never have I seen two people more in love.......heart...breaking....beautiful....

  • the best work by a the group without christine......

  • Love the WTF expression on her face at 2:28

  • my voice will always haunt you curtis

  • @brandicloutier Same goes for M.P. and I even warned him.

  • Proof of how strong an album Rumours was, that they could afford to leave a song of this quality off it!!!! Amazing song and still sounds brilliant 34 years later!!!!! And the songs keep coming - thanks FM for being brilliant!

  • After Rhiannon, my second favorite Mac song.

  • Interesting that Silver Spring was never on an album. Hey, I got to see Robert Palmer in August 78 at Finnigin's Rainbow in O.C. a club that held about 50 people. We all danced as he sang all the songs from Double Fun. He was super thin and young and wearing a beautiful italian suit. What a memory.

  • I worked at a dive restaurant in O.C.Md in 1978.. 17 years old..... made no money, but the other waitresses and I would feed the jute box and dance to this song. every night..crazy beautiful memory.....

  • @livnlovnlife379 ~ your memory has me so homesick I am puddled up here. I am from Baltimore and spent plenty of time in OC. AND the late 70s! If I could relive that time I would. Rumours was on EVERY channel on the radio

  • @livnlovnlife379 darn, wish Id been there :) when I was 16 all they played on the radio was jesse mccartney, i wish we'd had a jukebox^^

  • @livnlovnlife379 i am a virgin

  • UNEQUIVACAL MUSIC GODDESS, HER MUSIC STILL GIVES ME GOOSE BUMPS AND MAY I ADD YOU MAKE 63 LOOK FUCKING GRAND!!!!!

  • I watched this 516000 times who are the other viewers?

  • @twentyfour501 ~LOL!!!

  • ask her why she's like Cher. Coat tail rider.save your comments because I really don't care about your base opinions.

  • @ttocsify In what way is Stevie Nicks like Cher? They can both sing and both have long hair!! Cher acts - Stevie doesn't. Does Cher write her own songs? Stevie Nicks still looks like Stevie Nicks, and she wears clothes when she goes out!!!!!!! I like Cher, but I can't see the comparison. Please enlighten me!!!!!!!!

  • Stevie inspires me. Against difficulty she moves forward and rises to the challenge and follows her dream.

  • The things hangin from Mick Fleetwood's pants looks like a pair of testicles!!! LOL

  • Stevie Nicks is the best or the best. Her music will never die.

  • Is it possible to get away from the sound of a woman that loves you?

  • Stevie's music is such a comfortable place

  • I Love you Stevie ! & Thank you for this Beautiful music !

  • Just beautiful.

  • Thug...

  • Cameron...I see you...

  • Enough said! :D

  • YEAH!

  • @billboerickable

Pretty sure that this is the original version that wench has posted here. And she's 1000% spot on about Stevie's Enchanted Box set being dynamite, however Silver Springs is NOT on it (the only Mac song that is,Rhiannon,is a solo version of just Stevie at the piano and singing it while she plays.

Silver Springs was left off the Rumours album and I think the fact that so many great songs of hers were just not finding a place to be heard led to the Bella Donna album. And so on.

  • @wreckingKREW1 ~ You are right! Its not. So sorry for that mistake. Thank you so much for telling me

    . :)

  • @wreckingKREW1

Correctomundo. It wasn't on rumors. That's why it was that more special to hear it on the radio.

  • By the time that this record came out there was so much "stress" in the band that I am sure that Stevie's x did not allow alot of great stuff be on the record!!!! By now, I am sure he is very jelous (sorry can't spell) of what she had that he didn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @gigirhea20009 what an interesting observation....stevnicks...incredible unique talent...you are right....he was worried....love your post

  • one of my fav mac songs, and i'm a 41 year old straight dude...great song to burn one to on a stormy night.

  • This song I would bet is about the first time her heart was broken!!! and she forgave.

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever!!!!!

  • This "performance" was nominated for a Grammy. It is one of the more intense vocal performances ever, with an incredible backstory. Nicks had a lot of mixed feelings over the song. The song is to Lindsey, over their breakup. It was cut from Rumours, and has been called the best song ever to be cut from an album. Then, Mick Fleetwood would not allow Nicks to release it as a Stevie Nicks song, and actually left over that decision ... the 1987 breakup. With The Dance she finally got it out.

  • 1979 Ann Arbor, University of Michigan.

  • I can go to sleep now...with this tune floating in my dreams

  • Awesome song.

  • I noticed that how harder you try to let your kids like "our" music, the less they care about it. Let them discover it by themselves. My daughter loves songs like "Dance Hall days" just because she heard it on GTA Vice City for example. Think of it, what did you like when you were young? Music your parents played all day or music that you discovered yourself

  • classic

  • the best song that Fleetwood Mac ever made!

  • <3

  • WAYMAN WAYMAN WAYMAN STEVEN JOHN WAYMAN

  • i love you mama az wayman this is for you caryann

  • I'm a fetus and I'd just like to say that this music rocks! I know in my heart that what I really want to do is bang Stevie Nicks, but I have no idea what that means.

  • @Wench098 Thanks!!

  • Can anybody find and post the original version? It was never put on an album - just the flip side of one of the singles. But I didn't buy singles anymore in the mid '70s so I would go to this burger/beer joint by campus and listen to it on the jukebox. Can't imagine how many dimes I dropped to hear that song!

  • @billboerickeable

I don't have the original but it was on the flip side of "Go Your Own Way". Great song.

  • @billboerickeable watch?v=nnBLkb2x2c4&feature=related

  • @billboerickeable well this is the remastered studio...if you want the original original...look up the "demo" version

  • Did anyone notice 1:09?

  • Love this song. But love the live version in '97 from the 20th anniversary re-union from Rumours!

  • @innamorata40 ~ Oh yeah!! THAT was an amazing performance!!

  • @innamorata40 This song has even more meaning 20 years later,

  • Great song! But, I love the live version from the '97 re-union! (The 20th anniversary)

  • W(OW!! Beautiful version of Silver Springs!! Stevie Is so Hot!! I Love her as much as much as you do!!!

  • I'm so glad this was on the 2004 reissue I own. It's such a pretty song and one of my faves on the album.

  • This was left off of Rumors because of lack of album space...what a shame!

  • gorgeous stevie u r a legend xxxxxxxx

  • cannot put into words just how much i love everything about this song

  • And to think the other band members thought this wasn't as good as I Don't Want To Know. While that is also a great song, Silver Springs is an masterpiece of deep emotion and would have been a perfect addition to Rumours. Granted, Silver Springs earned it's rightful recognition on The Dance...but still. Rumours is one of the greatest albums of all time!

  • <3

  • Amazing music, and keeps it classy. My generation just doesn't care about morals, or good music.

  • @BrainsOftheMatter ~ I have ALOT of suscribers who are young . Very nice and have alot of class~like you :) Dont lose hope or give up on your generation. Thanks for commenting!

  • @Wench098 trust me. we're doomed.

  • @BrainsOftheMatter Just curious, what do morals have to do with musical appreciation? 'Cause, sure, I'm evil - but I love me some Stevie!

  • @BrainsOftheMatter please don't tell me Britney generation , if so , my generation has big job to do ; spreading the true about greatest american band FWM

  • I adore this song

  • wow

  • fleetwood mac is where its at!

  • @Bondsmanla i sent a lot of time crying to this my self because my x could not help herself

  • @Bondsmanla yes it did it to me, over & over again for 10 years. And now you can't figure out why I'm so hurt, bitter, angry & determined to destroy you.

  • @Clairexxoo Nope!!! :)

  • one of the most beautiful voices i have ever heard, thenk you sweety

  • listening to this now... love it.

  • she is one of the great songwriters of our generation. beautiful voice too.

  • Stevie has ruined all other music for me... :DD:

  • @GrimReefer1983 OMG! Tell me about it! LOL!

  • This song is me, no doubt. We dated in June, 1980. I could have been her silver springs but I wouldn't let her love me. Time has definitely cast a spell on me.

  • This song, along with Led Zeppelin's Hey Hey What Can I do, are my all-time favorite songs that never made it onto albums, from the days when albums mattered. Fleetwood Mac's Rumours was a great album and a huge seller, but if this song was on it, it would have been that much bigger.

  • @ls1959 I still don't understand why in hell this song was not included on Rumours. Forget that "there wasn't space shit!" This is a musical masterpiece and SHOULD have been on Rumours no matter what! Damn - put "Never Coming Back Again" or "Oh Daddy" (both fine songs) on the B-side of a single, but KEEP this on the LP! I also contend that Stevie's other 3 songs should have remained as well. Don't forget either that Stevie did more than "help" write "The Chain" - she wrote ALL of the lyrics!

  • You can go your own way...

    Nope, prefer not. Good song.

  • I heard this B side unreleased single in a jukebox in 1978 at a bar in the Hamptons on Long Island with my girl Sue

  • I get the chills when listening to this song also. It's so weird lol

  • One of the best songs ever written lyrically and musically.

  • Boy this makes me think!

  • I can relate to this song. I love it so much. Stevie Nicks, on her own and with Fleetwood Mac, is amazingly talented.

  • This was orginally going to be on "Rumours" god only knows why they left it off!!,its brillient!!.Roger P.

  • @silverspringsss98 ~yep :)

  • @Wench098 Yes, this is Fleetwood Mac with Stevie Nicks vocals. This version was originally only released on the B side of the Go Your Own Way 45 RPM record, never on an album. I think it is one of the most beautiful songs they ever recorded. I first found it on a jukebox in 1976 and have loved it ever since.

  • @BrainsOftheMatter - Don't worry about your generation. You can't control them or answer for them. You only have responsibility for one person - YOU. It's a lesson I continually learn. At 65, I'm almost the oldest person in these apartments, and I am constantly astonished by the fact that many people who look like slackers and losers are really quite polite and helpful (I'm disabled). Wench 098 is spot-on.

  • fleetwood mac helped me understand i'm pagan, they made me feel like family.xoxoxo

  • eisley's stacy dupree's version of this song is AMAZING.

  • @Iwrestledahippoonce

i tried listening to covers...no one can touch it!

  • @sdsunshiness of course no one can touch it but try listening to this cover then and tell me what you think!

  • @Iwrestledahippoonce

i appreciate your personal taste in music, but for me this girl is far too meloncholy...i tried listening to her cover of kanye's heartless as well, she just dosen't do it for me. I don't feel the song as much as I can appreciate her voice, i don't feel her passion in either song nearly like i feel from both original artists. if i didn't just get turned off by her covers, i might appreciate, and feel her passion more in a song she writes herself.

  • @sdsunshiness its super interesting that you think that. sometimes a song just cant just be over sung by anyone. It's HER song you know? that's everything from her heart.so i think thats what makes it hard to cover.but i do actually like eisley :] oh and its another girl who sings heartless.

  • Comment removed

  • @Iwrestledahippoonce

oh i didn't realize there were 2 dupree girls in eisley...i couldn't tell the difference between em either

  • Im 13 and I absolutely love Stevie Nicks and this song.

  • @silverspringsss98 ~You have amazing taste in music! Thanks for commenting :)

  • @Wench098 No problem, you did a great job with the video!

  • @silverspringsss98 ~thanks!

  • @Wench098 wench will you marry me?

  • @twentyfour501 ~LOL Sweet proposition! BUT Im already married and happily so for 17 yrs :) Thanks though.

  • @silverspringsss98

good job! i did too...i was lucky enough to grow up w/my momma listenin to em! i'd say so many of their songs feel like they were written from my life, but they were written before i had much of a life ; )...this one is for my husband who left

  • @sdsunshiness - Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks is just about all I listen to. I love them, and they're amazingggggg. :)

  • @silverspringsss98

have you seen this song done on "the dance" tour? i like it better later, i think all the years help...look up fleetwood mac the dance silver springs

  • @sdsunshiness I just looked it up... It's good but I still like this one better.

  • @sdsunshiness Sivler Springs inclusion on 'The Dance' was the band's (and especially Mick's) way of "apologizing" to Stevie for the travesty of not including the song on their monumental LP Rumours. Stevie was pissed - and wanted to include the song on her own "Best of" album 'Timespace' in '91. Mick vetoed this idea as he wanted the song for FM's box set in '92 (as it was a rarity then). Stevie quit FM in protest & began a verbal war with Mick. Silver Springs was THE highlight of The Dance!

  • What a song! My favorite Mac song Stevie and Lindsey. Great video!

  • @thisboy1964 ~Right on! :D Thanks

  • I'm not a big Fleetwood Mac fan but I love this song

  • @tamerswan ~well said ,Thanks!!!

  • oop...yep there's a tear comin down lol.

  • @Clairexxoo Big deal - I was born in 1995 also and instead of whining, Im enjoying the great music I "missed out on" right now in 2011.

So you're 15/16 and I'm glad that you're listening to some great music at your age - No point complaining, just enjoy the music.

  • good job on the rumours pics montage..

  • @chasbo13 ~Thanks!

  • Clairexxoo and SWprincessyo. Don't be daft. Every generation has great music of its own. You are lucky also to be able to find and listen to great music of previous generations. Oh, and by the way, if you are listening to Fleetwood Mac when you are 16 then you are already supercool.

  • all I ask is that you share this song with your children

  • @cabooh1059 -- Well said indeed. A song like this is timeless..

  • I was born in 1995, makes me sad I never got to enjoy this time period.

  • @swprincessyo 1990. I'm with you.

  • They should have put this song on Rumors in the place of "I Don't Wanna Know". Don't get me wrong, IDWK is a great, fun song...but this is one of Stevie's most beautiful songs ever.

  • Best song EVER to listen to over and over after a breakup. Doesn't matter if you're male or female, it hits you in the gut and summarizes all the feelings that you're going through.

  • wat a back beat

  • Driving to this song is perfection, all the chaos dissolves away and you're just lost in the music. Stevie Nicks really does take us away for awhile when she's singing.

  • I grew up in the stem of a rose.My view was""what could be""and that was stevie at the silver springs

  • 9 people never got away from the sound of the person that loves/d them

  • brilliant that the end of the url for the vid is "myOMG", yes, Stevie Nicks is my OMG, all the time *_*

  • @KetsuekiRose ~LOL!!!

  • SILVER SPRINGS, MD RULEZ !!!!

  • apparently you are kept on a tight lease. I feel sorry for you. That is not love, it is prison.

  • This song rips my heart loose.

  • the late 70s and all of the 80s are some of the best times . to bad we cant go back.

cills up and down my spine everytime i hear these great songs from tis time period ...

  • Time casts a spell on you but you won't forget me. I could have loved you but you would not let me.

  • @seattleappel I won't ever forget you

  • Back in the day of the 45 single....the flip side of Go You Own Way...I think. Not too sure, but I do own it....in my pile of old 45s. LOVED it then, LOVED the new version.

  • Crazy how it just keeps getting better and better. Stevie Nicks -- Mick was definitely right to bring her into the band; while leaving this song off may have seemed to have been a bad idea, unless this is the original recording, maybe something about it wasn't quite "ready for prime time."

Hauntingly hypnotic, as is most work by Stevie Nicks. And she's probably more comely now than in her youth -- and that's saying a lot (and I love the pics of her here). Thanks for the video.

  • @wireflight ~She is beautiful now :) Thanks for insightful comment

  • Leaving this song off of the "Rumours" album was a huge mistake; it could have been Fleetwood Mac's first Number One!

  • I can't think of a FM song I don't like - but this one after all these yearsstill causes me great emotion. Who can't say "I Know I Could Have Loved You, But You Would Not Let Me." GREAT PRESENTATION! Thanks

  • @ctrygardener ~ Well said! Thank you

  • Greatest Fleetwood Mac song ever!

  • Super tune. Very nice slide video. Thanks very much for posting this!

  • @lancethrustworthy ~YW and thanks for liking it and comment :)

  • One of my favorites, I had this on tape and I definetly wore it out! I could listen to this forever, so beautiul but so bittersweet! I love Stevie at the end the last few words and wooos..., Thanks again for another great job with the pictures.... Thanks again for sharing!

  • @Nightbirdrocks ~Thank you Nightbird!

  • How many of you get chills when you hear Fleetwood Mac? Do any of you feel like crying like a little baby listening to Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham sing and play together?

  • @EvanesEmperor ~I do!

  • @EvanesEmperor This song makes me cry too. Especially "you'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you". I saw a video of them performing this song live and the look that Stevie gave Lindsey during the last verse was enough to rip someones heart out, so sad. Might get to see them this summer, really hope they do this song!

  • @EvanesEmperor I cried my eyes out the first time I heard Beautiful Child - Stevie and Lindsey's harmonies in that song tug at my heartstrings.

  • @EvanesEmperor I do! Great music, great talent.

  • @EvanesEmperor They were so perfect together. I still get teary-eyed when I see videos of the two of them.

  • @EvanesEmperor I DO!... actually I dedicated this to my ex... after we broke up...but HE never knew..LOL he is long gone now..lol

  • @EvanesEmperor Yeah, it's incredible.

  • @EvanesEmperor The videos from Stevie singing this song to Lindsey on the Dance tour are just haunting. I think even after all these years they both love each other, but they know they never will be together. I think the sound of Stevie's voice will always haunt Lindsey. You can just feel it. This song makes me emotional and is one of the few Fleetwood Mac songs that gives me the chills while listening to it.

  • @EvanesEmperor this song makes me cry every time i hear it.. ive always loved stevies voice and the message behind this song is just so powerful..i could only wish that i had a woman that loved me that much.

  • @kamrnnikko I do have a woman that loves me that much and songs like this remind me how rare that is.

  • LOVE Stevie Nicks! I'll see her March 20th in Ft. Lauderdale on her Heart and Soul tour with Rod Stewart. I hope she sings Silver Springs...an absolute favorite of mine. Nicks is the coolest female artist of all time!

Anyone know what the set list is on this tour? I can't find it!

  • Beautiful song I have always loved it.

  • This is a cool song. It was originally intended to be part of the rumours album but the producers thought "You can go your own way" was a better fit. I wish they would have used this cut instead. (Im 99% sure it was 'go your own way ' that was used

instead but it may have been another cut--- I just remember thinking that Silver would have been better and made a kick-ass album all the better!! Thanks for the posting!!!!!
