@TheCoughlm Alex Wier! He used to play in a band called The Brothers Johnson. They had somewhat of a hit with a song called Strawberry Letter #25 or something like that
@DavidJF123 YEAH! Thats the one! Hahaha yeah its got that bit where the music cuts out and he just goes to town slapping that bass! I'm gonna look it up now...
I was going to say the besides Dire Straits and the Black Crowes, the Talking Heads were the only 80s bands that I really liked, but after double checking, I was wrong on all counts, Dire Straits and the Talking Heads both got their starts in the 70s and the Black Crows in 1990.
Part of the secret of what's going on here is the keyboard player on the far left. If you look at earlier performances of this band, you'll see this is much higher energy and it has everything to do with that keyboard player. He transformed this band.
@malbuff Apparently Bernie wanted to wear something bright purple on stage, but it clashed with the muted tones of everyone else's outfits, so they found him the palest purple tank top they could get their hands on :-)
@bobbylibby umm yes is it true that you should rap it before you tap it. And bigger girls provide more cusion for the pushin? Should all women anticipate the angle of the dangle?
@bdfilms01 i am a Saluki too, graduate of 75, got to see Tull, Doobie Brothers, Jefferson Starship, Sly and the Family Stone, Chicago and J geils while i was there, all good shows. Wish I could have seen Heads live!!
Hahah I saw Byrne get mad at my brother in law for using the word "Crusader" to ask how Byrne got so involved in road bicycling at a speech last year. Great artist but, I mean come one dude, it's just a word!
No David, I have no questions. I'm convinced that this was the funkiest band in America. The supporting musicians were all having a ball making this music soar...The movie reviews said "...the music explodes off of the screen." , must have meant this song in particular. Wow!! This just gets better every time I see it.
I t makes me smile when I see the wide angle view of the lower floor musicians go into their little "jogging" routine. When the TH were together and laying down these funky sounds they got a lot of use out that energy level. It wasn't just the Movie theater that exploded when the TH were in town. Maybe the energy and the violence were suggested by the songs lyrics.
sop making sense en dit was is muzieke met echte energioe en een totale eenheid ze lopen het helenummer allemaal hard op de voorste rij met gitaren en vocals

2:50 I love how the band is trying to figure out what he is doing when he lowers the mike and sings "around" in a circle. Unlike all the new hip hop "stars", he really can dance and sing at the same time.
Those moves came straight from Scotland.
