  • So, Animals can talk, but babies can't be green? I've never thought about it like that before.

  • The wicked workings of you-know-who?! Voldemort was in Wicked?! I don't remeber that bit?o.o

  • This is so tragic!

  • I love that the top two comments are about Harry Potter. And I agree with them both! xD

  • I just realized that when Glinda sings "And goodness knows the wicked's lives are lonely. Goodness knows the wicked die alone. It just shows when you're wicked you're left lonely on your own." She isn't criticizing Elphaba. She's talking about herself and how she was left all alone after she let go of Fiyero and Elphaba for her own future...

  • @autumnisque She feels as if she is responsible for their "deaths"

  • Judging by their rhymes, they were already expecting a girl... That awkward moment when -

"I see a curl! It's a happy perfect lovely little-.....boy......crap. FROM THE TOP EVERYBODY!"

  • 4:13 Green elixer? Is that how she turned green...? O:

  • ok so the glinda talks bad about elphaba behind her back and when she sees elphaba shes all "ur my best friend!" then they sing this -.-

  • @TheDeathBeyond123 you've seen this show right?

  • @ulltraBLONDE yes i have 2 times....listen to the song though -.- it sounds like shes saying good about her death even though she didnt die she ran off with fyero and yea ...

  • @TheDeathBeyond123 Glinda's not actually being honest. Elphaba didn't want to break Glinda's cover so she asked her to speak badly of her.

  • @TheDeathBeyond123 She's doing it so she can ensure that Elphaba is safe by not making the Ozians suspicious. She's forced to talk bad about her - it's not that she wants to, but she wants Oz to stay calm.

  • How? Well when a mother and a father love each other....

  • You'd think that the fact that they have talking animals and winkies, they would accept someone who was green -_-

  • I find this extremely sad for Elphaba.

  • I wan't this to be my funeral song :P

  • @LOVxxE

    LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL XD

  • A great start to a great musical ^_^

  • I played this song and jumped cause it was too loud.

  • Yes, the baby is green. Calm down people.

  • @DeathRebirthSenshi

I love that part, I keep singing 'The baby is unnaturally...GREEEEN!!!!' and my friends are getting annoyed with it xD

  • @DeathRebirthSenshi Other favorite part: LOOK! IT'S GLINDA!!!!

    Groupies...

  • This is what will play when I die

  • @Rolarin77 if you don't mind, i'm stealing this idea. :P

  • wierd, now i dont like Wizard of Oz the movie lol

  • @schwerha44 neither do i :P my sister was like "hey sis wanna go see the Wizard of Oz?" and i was listening to this and i was like "NO!" lol and she was like 0.0

  • I love how people copy each others comments for likes.

  • For the sake of getting the two IDENTICAL Top Comments out of here, I suggest liking something creative.

  • That awkward moment when both top comments are the same.

  • I love this song. one of the best xox

  • we need a new joke for this song the voldemort one is driving me up the wall

  • i have a few questions for this song. 1. if even Elphaba didn't know about the wizard and his funky green potion how did Galinda know about it? and 2. if they could see her nose, wouldn't they see that she was green before she was all the way out?

  • @ulltraBLONDE Towards the end after Elphie died, Glinda took the bottle that Elphie kept under her pillow to the wizard because she knew that the wizard had a bottle just like it and those two were the only ones she'd ever seen before. That's when they realized that Elphie's mom was the one that he had an affair with that night and he was acually her dad. As for your other question: I don't know. I've always wondered that too.

  • @1335ginger oh yeah i forgot about that part. thanks. i really think they would've noticed that if they could see her nose though. hmm

  • @1335ginger so basiclly the wizard ordered everyone to kill his own daughter what a dad!

  • @kitkatdetective Technically yes. But he didn't know he was the dad until after she "died" :P

  • @ulltraBLONDE I obviously don't know for sure and never looked into it, but I am just assuming that the nose is so small so you wouldn't be able to tell the color of it from 'inside the mom'. And even if they did see the nose green, it could be just the nsoe that was green, and maybe they would think that a green nose is alot more acceptable in society than the whole body being green... : )

  • The really sad thing is this play really shows the truth of the world. The pretty girl (While she dosen't have to be nessecarily blond) can be a traitor and get away with it. While the person thats true to her heart good is cast aside because of her flaws. Its really sad. But thas the truth,

  • WHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! I LOVED ELPHABA!!!!

  • No one mourns the wicked..... That gives me chills :3

  • 5 people dont mourn the wicked

  • 1.54 omg voldemort :0 lol

  • @DUSTYANGEL1512 my thoughts exactly. WHY must Voldy creep in EVERYWHERE? :P

  • @cnt4giveAvadaKedavra well he is magic lol

  • Woah. This song is sooo moving !!!!

  • Glinda, you trader!

  • @4evercool88 I think you mean traitor? A trader trades things...

  • the main persons name is elphaba because the writer of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz's name initials are LFB and if you sound it out you get EL-FA-BA=Elphaba

  • @demi12356 Woops. Sorry, I didn't see his, I guess Its was farther back than I read. I never meant to copy of him. :/

  • -cough- In the book, Fiyero is dead. >w> And Elphaba has a child. c:

  • @Tsukaiz Good one. eue

  • best opening EVERR!!

  • They should've played this song at the end of Harry Potter.

  • @ily1997alla yuph.. i totally agree with you,

    :)

  • I saw the play then I listen to this, Elphaba pretending to be dead, all these people thinking she was all evil and stuff, the Wizard thinks he conspired against his own daughter, Fiyero is a scarecrow, and Glinda thinks its all her fault... I'm just like wow, what a mess :/

  • Love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 6:07 -6:36 <3

  • Random person: LOOK ITS GLINDA

    Me: NO ITS GAAAAALINDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Disneyacwwfan no but it starts at the end so her name would be glinda by then

  • my favorite part is 2:49 to 3:36

  • @lolipop2119 Me Too<333

  • I DOING THIS PLAY FOR SCHOOL MUSICAL IT WELL AWESOME

  • No one lays a lily on their grave. Why not? it IS the flower of death

  • I strangely found Elfaba more attractive than Glinda

  • @MultiGaryProductions i did too XD

  • Does anyone else notice how part of the begining is the melody to defying gravity?

  • Phycopathical little munchkins, aren't they ("Good News: She's dead!!!"):3

  • I saw the show today, loved it so much! Happy endings for all! Except, you know, Glinda. :(

  • This is one of the most powerful opening numbers i've ever seen. The last bit is so intense.

  • If the baby is green... is an Eco- Friend? :D

  • Poor Elphaba

  • We do mourn the wicked!

  • Isn't it incredibly sad how they only know half the story? Elphaba was never wicked. She was just different.

  • without reading that comment i shouted voldemort on you know who :')

  • I like Gregory Maguire's printed fanfic Oz better then the original books.

  • Isn't it sad that just because people don't know the whole story it can cause them to say or do crazy thoughts? I mean, they are rejoicing a good person's death, who just wanted to help the world, these people are HAPPY that she died. Happy for a good person's death.

  • you know Glindatries to help Elphaba, then is happy that she's dead. It doesn't make sense.

  • @beachchik100 I know I was just thinking that!

  • @beachchik100 Have you watched the musical, if no, tell me, and I'll explain why she's happy

  • @ImCalebRosengard Could you explain to me?

  • @MissILoveMusic13 Sure, but there will be spoilers... well this song is the very first song of the musical, then after this the story begins.

The song "For Good" is the song it's played before Elphaba's "death". When that song ends, or before it starts, I don't remember, Elphaba makes Glinda swear on her life that she would not try to clean Elphaba's name, which means, Glinda is making Elphaba's last wish, because Glinda really wanted to help Elphie. That's why she's happy, because Elphie asked

  • @ImCalebRosengard Thanks that helps, I'm not rich enough to go see it anyway!! haha

  • @MissILoveMusic13 I watched with a crappy quality on youtube, I'm not even american, but I'm planning on seeing it as soon as possible

  • @ImCalebRosengard No. but I'm goin to see it in November. :)

  • @beachchik100 In this case, I won't spoil it

  • at 2:33 when the ensemble hits "alone", it sounds AMAZING

at 6:02 on shown you can hear a few males go up a few notes that sounds AWESOME :D :D

the entire last chorus after "it couldn't have been easy is pure wonder :D

    xx

  • elphaba....I'll lay a lily on your grave...

  • poor elphy she never did nothin on purpuse :'(

  • Her mom's kind of a skank..just saying. :/

  • @IdinaAWICKEDelphaba She was much worse in the book. She had three kids and all of them were implied illegitimate....

  • @nickyg ikr, i read the book too! bahahahahahah:)

  • this song made me pissed they were so happy she was dead (well, sorta). Elpaeba was too cool 4 them to understand!

  • i personally luv this song

  • She actually says 'The wicked die alone" and not "cry alone". This is such a great song. :) I murder the replay button, lol.

  • Moral: Don't accept strange green elixers from wizards. XD

  • I want this played at my funeral

  • Voldemort was in Wicked??

  • Doing this for our marching band field show this year! <3

    No One Mourns the Wicked

    Dancing Through Life/Defying Gravity

For Good/No Good Deed/No One Mourns the Wicked (:

  • @CatsinSocks That's awesome! :O

  • My name is No One and I mourn the Wicked. PS does anyone hear a bit of sadness in Glinda's voice.

  • I really think I could do the young wizard part :D

  • i love this song! i have to sing this as part of the ensamble* part i know i got in Wicked.

  • I mourn the wicked.

  • @SilveressBelle Me too...

    Does that make us nobodies?

  • @CandieCane100 yes, probably. and I'm pretty proud of it.

  • @SilveressBelle Same here :)

  • 4:50 Sooo, if they couldn't see enough of the baby to tell that it was green, how could they tell it was a girl? THAT would have been wierd if it turned out to be a boy.

"I see a curl! It's a happy, perfect, lovely little- .........BOY......

well that's awkward. The rhyming was just ALL off."

  • @ChocoLatte1235 yes, i missed the end :P

  • @JockCountry So... You haven't seen the play huh?

  • @JockCountry

    youmustbenewhere.jpg

  • I can hit those high notes Galinda sings... haha. I love Wicked sooo much! <3

  • I got chills when Glinda sang "She died alone!" and "Good news!"

  • It was that Green elixer that did it...That's why a mother should not drink anything a stranger hands to them...

  • @SuperAmp18 thats why a mother shouldnt drink when pregnant

  • Glinda is only singing this because she promised that she would never try and clear Elphaba's name, it's what Elphie wanted...

  • Comment removed

  • When I went to see this, during this number all I wanted to do was stand up and say "I mourn the Wicked!"

  • Comment removed

  • oh my god if we ever do this musical at school i sure do hope i dont get the part of galinda/glinda, cuz that will so hurt my voice...i dont know how kristin chenoweth could hit those high notes

  • @tophrocks96 I know I can hit them but not well it sounds more like screeching you know.

  • Comment removed

  • It's dark-EYED beauty.

  • I have to say this is my favorite song from Wicked. Kristin Chenoweth has an amazing voice(:

  • im doing a project on wicked at school!!!

  • So, did Harry sing this after the battle of Hogwarts?

  • @im3LS3WH3R3 Of course. Didn't you see the musical version? X'3

  • @cherrypop146 Must have missed it.

  • @im3LS3WH3R3 Porbably everyone in the great hall started singing with him too. Harry was Galinda.

  • @ellita97 LOL...

  • @im3LS3WH3R3 If I was Harry, I would lol

  • You- Know- Who? VOLDEMORT!!!!:)

  • @Music101775 XDDDDD

  • @Music101775 voldemort what? xD

  • Poor Glinda... Believing that her best friend died...

And then thinking it was somewhat her fault.

  • @Melissasrandomness i know i hated that part! poor Glinda alright

  • @Melissasrandomness well she did help kill her sister and kinda was if she knew it or not

  • @Melissasrandomness Or does she?

  • Glinda sounds so guilty when she sings "She died alone"

  • hey.... is the fellow ozians thing did i hear a bit of hurt in Glinda's voice....?

  • @lilyrose2244 yeah Glinda is secretly sad about it cause she knows that Elphaba was really a good person that bad things kept happening to and that she really wasn't Wicked like everyone thought. They were friends and she feels slightly like it was her fault that she is now "dead."

  • pleeaassee tell me you youtube nickname has something 2 do with kurt

  • @DancerEveryDay actually both You-Know-Who and He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named were used in the books i know i read them

  • @Divaratrika THANK. YOU.

  • @Divaratrika yes but "he who shall not be named" is the *proper* way to say it. "you know who" is colloquial. ;) but don't sweat it.

  • I feel so sorry for Elphaba... Her life wasn't that easy, eh ? And yet she had the strength to remain faithful to herself and hold on until the last minute.

  • 3 people thought elphaba dying was good news :(

  • there racist againts greens thats why they thinks shes wicked

  • I always get sad listening to this! The sad thing is that she wasn't wicked at all. It should be changed to, "The wicked Wizard of Oz" and "The Wonderful Witch of the West". XD

Of course, that would ruin the plot, so I guess I should just be thankful for this awesome play. :D

  • CLEARLY 2 people turned out green and are just mad

  • @AseAvante after watching this play, i wouldnt mind if i turned out green. Idk haha
