The purpose of the 10 year project was to study evolution. If they attempted to save any, it would make any of their results invalid. They are only allowed to euthenize any with Tuberculosis so that it doesn't spread to cattle or other meerkats. If you go to Animal Planet they will explain this in a video as well as other assorted questions.

Truth is that if Animal Planet chose the Lazuli as their "main characters" Cazanna would be everyone's kahakri queen and Flower would be turned into "the neighbors from hell" as Animal planet calls the other groups. Kinkajou is no different than Flower or any other meerkat.

Kinkajou didn't "steal" dominance. The Starsky was not established and the dominant spot was open for grabs. Mozart chose not to take it and Kinakjou did. Thats not her fault.

Mozart was as kind and unselfish as you could get in a meerkat. She only had two litters surviving (I have discovered that in the book) and she never really got a chance because she was too kind to become a dominant. I know it sounds mean but I'm almost glad she died. Now maybe she'll be happy. Rest In Peace Mozart. You'll always be remembered.
It just killed me that they titled the episode where Mozart dies, THE GRADUATE. I think that is so poignant. It's like after a preordained amount of hardship, we move on to another incarnation - poor Mozart; nothing ever really went well for her.

The music at the end is called "Poor Ginger" by Danny Elfman from the movie "Black Beauty". As for the song at the end of The Graduate, Im not sure. Its beautiful though isn't it? I was lucky enough to get a hold of the Meerkat Manor season 3 soundtrack but it didn't have that piece on it. I was very depressed about that but managed to get it anyways. ;)

She was being a protective mother and no one should hate her for that. I will not accept anymore rude comments about poor Kinkz.

Sophie aka Tina Sparkle (the meerkat who played Sophie in season 1,2 and 3) was Mozart's daughter but sadly went missing.
The Sophie you see in season 4 is named Ella and she is Mozart's sister.
