Really good dude. Im going to use this for an assignment i have to do for colledge if you dont mind. Have to compare two recordings of the same song and comment on production techniques etc. This is perfect to compare with the orignal lateralus recording form the album. Thumbs up man
Haha thanks so much! I'd be happy to teach anybody who wants to learn. As long as you can play guitar, it's quite simple. I might post up a video in a few weeks/months showing how I do my recordings.
No, not really. You just need some method of recording your guitar and then a few programs. I'll work on making a video tutorial later this week that goes over most aspects of my recording and mixing process. Make sure you subscribe so you get notified when I upload it.
Very nice. All of that should work perfectly. Personally, I use REAPER as my DAW for recording guitar, but I use FL Studio 9 for my synthesizers and for EZdrummer because last time I tried it in REAPER, it wasn't making use of the realistic drum hits properly. I also use TuxGuitar instead of Guitar Pro, but that's really just a personal preference.
Thanks for the feedback! I know the distortion guitar is a little fuzzy. I worked hard to make a tone that sounded even mildly like the original song and the one I used is the best I could come up with. I think the quality of my humbuckers probably had something to do with it, too.
I used the Treadplate Dual with the 4x12 Treadplate cab. I just noticed that the fizziness is a little less prominent in the 320kbps mp3 versus this YouTube video. It also would have made a difference if my bridge had been set up properly for dropped D tuning.
ahh, thought it was Treadplate Dual, I tend to avoid treadplate dual cause its too fizzy overall, don't worry its not your humbuckers or anything.
I would recommend using the EQ stomp in gearbox and lowering the gain especially on the lower frequency band, it reduces alot of the fizz and makes it sound alot better.
Impressive, thanks for sharing.

I've got all this stuff but I have absolutely no idea what to do.
Can't wait for the tutorial.

Haha that's perfectly ok. I didn't have any idea when I first started either. But don't worry, I'll be sure to explain it all in detail.

Good Job, Pretty much spot on.
Distorted guitar tone is a little bit fizzy but aside from that nice one!

Which amp model did you use for the distortion on the pod XT live?
