  • You cannot afford macbook? Check out giveaway at macbook7 . com Go and get yours

    I like it

  • Thanks so much for this video! I just purchased an upgrade of ram for mine and couldn't figure where it went. I would have messed something up had I not watched this video. Thanks again!

  • can u upgrade cpu or no

  • Why didn't your warn us about static discharge??

  • All most 99% of hardware is build with protected cover layer of static e. Just touch the hardware or table you could ground yourself.

  • my 15.4 inch came with 4 gigs can i up grade to 8 or 6??

  • i want a mac book pro :(

  • this guy is such a horrible speaker i counted 27 um's in the first um 2 um minutes

  • hey have u noticed that the battery cover starts to become loose and starts to show abit of gap upon removing the battery cover a few times a see its a problem in the late 2008 macbook aluminum's have u seen any difference in yurs? i seen abit in mine just wondering if u know if apple will do anyting about it? thanks i subscribed to u guys!!!1

  • Thats why I'm glad they got rid of that in the new Macbook Pros. I would rather have a totally seamless computer and have to take a little more time to upgrade the RAM and HD. Seriously, it a one time thing and then you done.

"Thats not a deal breaker ladies!"

  • u can install 8 gigs on 17" unibody mac, ,, those rams are fuckin expensive, for the price os 2 x 4gb stix you can bout another laptop

  • actually now any macbook size can use 8gb

  • oO, , , what can 8gb used for

  • Anything you want, unlike windows 32 bit which can only allow 4.5 GB of ram.

  • in my opinion its not gna be equal if u use 8gb with dual core , , 2 x 2gb in dual channel is perfect,, ,

  • For the average consumer...at this point? Nothing. If you really need that computing power then you will most likely switch to a mac pro (not macbook pro) anyway. If that's not enough, Nvidia has their Tesla personal super computer line that has over 960 parallel processing cores.

  • noo, tesla cards are expensive ,plus, i think u can have alot more than 960 cores by installing 6 tesla cards and one normal gpu on P6T7 super computer motherboard, , well ,cors u will need to water cool all of them cuz pci slots located next to each other and one tesla cards takes 2 slots,

  • @bigdima3 lol i just upgraded my RAM to 8GB for about $50.

  • What ram brand ?

  • You said you can use the old RAM to upgrade a older mac, but the RAM in the new MBP's are DDR3, so would you still be able to put them in a old mac?

  • No.

  • very helpful,,,thanks

  • i heard that they support 8 gigs now

  • i think its the 17" only

  • nah itz all macbook "pros" including 13inch as well

  • I posted comment before the WWDC update.

    Correct you are.

  • Nice video

  • It's funny how he puts so much emphasis on the 25 cent screws.

  • thanks. it would be nice if u mentioned ram type - specification

  • where can buy that memory chips for mac?

  • MY SCREW SLIPPED!!!

  • that is a nice looking computer even in the inside

  • Warrenty still ok after!?

  • Yup :)

  • new macworld mag says that it will scream

    with a 2G + 4G = 6G baby !!! :)

  • It would be a good idea to get some Loctite threadlock to keep those screws in place. Only a couple of bucks at your local hardware store and no worries about loosing a screw.

Like the other posters stated you can use up to 6 GB RAM and your old 1 GB sticks can not be used on older Macs (sell them on eBay). Other wise great job on the video simple and informative.

  • can't use for an old mac, they don't support ddr3.

  • is ti ddr2 or ddr3

  • aren't the new unibody mbp able to support and use 6gb of ddr3 ram now?

  • Actually, it accepts up to 6 GB's of ram.

  • who said that?Microsoft?

it only support up to 4Gb

  • No, they're only advertised to support 4GB of ram, but they actually will support 6GB using one 4GB module and one 2GB module.

  • great video. and nice tip to check to ensure the ram is correctly installed. i don't know why apple made it more of a chore to add the memory...i have the previous gen and the memory was easier to install, but the hard drive was more difficult....now its reversed.

  • Yeah you would assume more people will replace the RAM than the hard drive...

  • this is very clear... nice vid hey can u do a video on upgrading another kind of notebook, like a HP

  • does the speed drop on HD??

  • i don't think you can use these to upgrade an older mac because they are DDR3 memory while all the older macs are either DDR2 or DDR

DDR3 has a different pin configuration, so it wouldn't work in an older machine

  • That is correct, They messed up that fact.

  • they mess up stuff like that a lot.....

  • ok. Youtube is widescreen now, so plz start uploading vids in HQ

  • Does this void your warranty?

    Greets

  • no this wont void it but if ever your mac gets sick and needs to go for service and Apple repairers do tests and find that the cause of the problem is related to the 3rd party ram, then it will not be covered under warranty. u'll have to pay to replace the ram. the same will apply with hard drive

  • awesome

  • You gave some great tips here, especially the one about checking to see if you put the RAM in right before you put all the screws back. Thanks.

  • Video quality is really bad. You guys should really start uploading high quality versions

  • Great Video 5/5
