  • I'm doing this scene for my theatre class soon. I am so nervous, seriously. Claudia is such a great character.

  • what did Claudia say at 4:19??

    something with "fuck" in it

  • @NinetiesYouth I believe she said, "I started this, didn't I? Didn't I? Fuck." Though I could be wrong.

  • @killeraddiction ohhh okay. yeah I think that's right. thanks man.

  • I knew a girl a lot like Claudia. I think back on her when I see this movie and feel bad that I wasn't able to be a guy like Jim. :(

  • This is a beautiful scene, from the best film, in my opinion, ever made.

  • "That felt good, to do what I wanted to do"

    I am this girl, jesus

  • Maybe she... perhaps because she... watch the fricken film and you will understand, well, if you have a heart under the chest and a brain under that skull, sorry if I sound rude. I wish people had teh guts to be trully themselves, but only the pricks seem to be able to be themselves openly, sad world.

  • "i dont go out very often. i never found somenoe, really, that...id like to go out with."

    sooo sincere.

that is soo me. his tone and mannerism. im the same way that "doesnt go out often"

  • amazing,, i am claudi. I am a male who has graduated today and the people on my course are assholes. they are under my skin, they have never felt loss!!! i hate them hate, so much anger! fuck them all! fuk themn!

  • ... good riddance

  • whats the music at the end? any one know?

  • PTA films are always fucking amazing, look at that awesome shot when they kiss... Also that film is so human, it's awesome.

  • Can someone explain to me why Claudia asks him if he'd object to never seeing her again?

  • @An0nEeMouse Basically I think it's because of the danger inherent in a relationship. She is obviously socially anxious, and he reveals that he is also that way. That's the beauty of this relationship in the film: two losers meeting and connecting with each other.

Also, Aimee Mann wrote a song called "Deathly" with that line that was included in the film.

  • @An0nEeMouse

Because she's ending it on a good note. She's very fond of him, and if he, a cop, finds out she's a drug addict, she's scared they'll lose that goodness they had.

  • Who does NOT like this scene???

  • after that scene, i cried...

  • John C reilly is GOOOOOOD in this Movie and Paul thomas Anderson is just a Virtuoso Filmmaker.. Up there with the Best of the Best.

  • Fuck that was intense... Tom should have won best Actor and this scene should have won best scene!

  • It's so real, it's almost not a movie.

  • ugh poor guy

  • this is one of favorite romances ever. :)

  • such a great scene.

  • I want to like it... but I feel like she's 'pushing' her character to hard... the 'didn't I, didn't I" line at the end sounds like an acting class scene... I'm not fully sold on it, although I did like the movie.

  • @pacedom1 Not every actor approaches their performances the same way. And it works for her, I think it was a great performance and a great scene, and plus, you know, she's portraying a woman who's hooked on coke and snorts coke a lot so lol.

  • @pacedom1

Thank you! I completely agree dude! I've always felt like the actor completely overplays the character throughout the entire movie. I like the film in general and I love PTA's work, but there are definitely really cheesy dialogue moments and this actress makes me cringe.

  • @Ronin0212 No they don't. Be Quiet. This movie is perfect.

  • @danerook No they don't what? I know I'm late on this comment, but what are you objecting to in my original comment? That there are really cheesy moments in this film that are cringe worthy? Sorry it's true. The movie is good, very original, but far from perfect. Now go jerk off to a picture of PTA.

  • @Ronin0212 I WILL DO NO SUCH THING!!!! YOU ARE RIGHT YOU ARE WAY LATE!!! HOW ABOUT RESPONDING TO A COMMENT SOONER NOT WEEKS OR MONTHS AND DON'T TELL ME TO JERK OFF TO A PICTURE OF PTA!!!!

  • @Ronin0212 There are no cheesy moments in this film. You and I must not have been watching the same movie.

  • @pacedom1 It does not sound like an acting class scene.

  • 01:08 to 01:37 is the whole point of the movie.

  • You really use strong.. language :(

  • 00:40

  • I get to do this scene wednesday in my acting class. I'm doing John C. Reilly's part and really looking forward to it now. Thanks so much for putting this up.

  • 'Now that I've met you, would you object to never seeing each other again?' such brillance..both the song and movie:)

  • kewl :)

  • for me, it just doesn't get any better than this. it's really a perfect scene in a nearly perfect film. brilliantly heartbreaking.

thanks for putting this up iwantmymtv (funny name...).

  • @thedwork The moive is flawless in my opinion.

  • @danerook i hear you dane :) amazing film.

i just wish anderson hadn't abandoned his "The Master" project. i was crazy excited for that. i guess we can still hope for it...
