@spiderfly1014 Most of the time our drill teams use M1 Garand rifles but in some cases they also use the 1903 springfield rifle, but only in certain drill teams usually.
That was pretty sweet. If you ever get a chance, catch the Silent Drill Competition at Fort Myers, Virginia, where all the teams from different services compete. It's always mind-blowing.

I went to college for two years before, it is much easier to do college when you do not have to worry about the money because the military is paying for it. Do enlisted, get through college and then if you want to go back in as an officer you can.

@iamfoob I'm in the Army and I'll admit, it seems like it's a lot easier doing 20 years in the Air Force or Navy compared to the Army or Marines. Benefit wise I'm not entirely sure, the military isn't making as much money therefore educational benefits have been a bit dry in some areas lately. I did receive a $20,000 bonus signing up for my MOS though, I believe we all get the Mont GI Bill and then there's the whole, active, guard, reserve aspect on benefits which is way too much to get into.
@MrGUSTO3 and AiMhgsmith2, Why don't you jarheads accept you are the best riflemen and take this drill for what it is...It's a display of teamwork, timing, and attention to detail by AMERICAN servicemen that should be respected by even MARINES!! Most of us live comfortably and without fear because the U.S. military and her allies stand guard and preserve those freedoms. Many more live comfortably and don't realize that they are free because someone else is standing guard and sacrificing for their freedom. @johnnygisbourne- You call Russia loosing the cold war as an atrocity? When the USSR fell apart, did the U.S. attack them and kill millions of civilians?...NO...That would be an atrocity. The USSR fell apart economically trying to keep up with American military advancements. How is that an atrocity toward the U.S.? If anything, it was a bad move on the Russians to compete with the Americans on something they were going to loose at.
