  • I just downloaded and tried playing PewPew on my new Galaxy Nexus (international GSM version), and immediately noticed this issue. Googled it, and found this video. Thought my phone had a bad digitizer at first, but since it can be temporarily fixed it seems more likely it's a driver issue.

  • @SirRoadHazard Oh, apparantly this has been fixed in the 4.0.4 update. Just gonna have to wait for that then!

  • @SirRoadHazard I've heard people saying 4.0.4 fixes this, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm at least waiting for 4.0.4 to be released via AOSP before trying it myself.

  • Not all Galaxy Nexus has the same problem, few might have.

  • Hi all, I found a solution that works with some games like Shadowgun and Samurai II: Vengance. Rotate the screen so basically the phone is backwards but it works the same. The bug affects the bottom right corner, but if you rotate it the top left corner becomes the bottom right corner and the games work fine. Still there are some games that won't rotate with the screen so they still need to fix this.

  • Mine doesn't.... all ten fingers on screen no glitches.

  • @dannyfarley21 For the billionth time, you must play a multi touch game FIRST before trying the testing app or you won't see the issue. And you musn't turn the screen off between switching between the game and the test app. Then you will see it.

  • im rather pissed about this. i was really enjoying this phone until i noticed this glitch...

  • @protonus Did Samsung ever get back at you? I thought you spoke to them. I'm passed the return date so I'm stuck with this phone now. Everything about it is perfect except THIS yet for me at least its a big part. I have a lot of time in between classes and I like play games to kill time, but i don't anymore because NONE OF MY GAMES WORK. Would rooting my phone fix this?

  • @Ku5hFi3nd They haven't gotten back to me yet I'm afraid. I followed up last week and the engineers were still looking into it they said. The holidays and being so close to launch date, isn't helping matters I'm sure. I will follow up again next week. I'm afraid rooting your phone, or updating to 4.0.3, will not fix this. We will need a new ROM with new drivers in it from Samsung I am quite certain to fix this.

  • I tried multi-touch tester and it works fine on my Galaxy Nexus. It registers 10 touches at once too. But, when I play Shadowgun it does not respond well when touching in the bottom right, and neither does Meteor Blitz.

  • @sk8erz6721 If you try multi touch tester AFTER playing one of those games, but without turning your screen off in between, you should see the issue then.

  • WTF, FIX THIS RIGHT NOW. I WAS JUST PLAYING SHADOWGUN AND I GOT THIS PROBLEM AND LOOKED IT UP AND LOOKS LIKE EVERY NEXUS HAS THIS PROBLEM!!!!!

NEXUS DOESN'T RULE ANYMORE. I AM PISSED. I AM GOING TO RETURN THIS DAMN PHONE RIGHT NOW. DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT. AND I THOUGHT THIS WAS GOING TO BE A GREAT PURCHASE. DAMN YOU GOOGLE. CAN'T YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT!? YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE BETTER THAN APPLE with you OPEN SOURCE BULLSHIT. WTF. GOD! TIME WASTED. SHIT. IM JUST GONNA RETURN THIS.

  • @GalaxyNexusRules OMG BEFORE YOU TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK KEY I HOPE YOU POST IN THOSE LINKS I PROVIDE WHERE YOUR ANGER CAN BE USEFUL, THANKS!!!11

  • @GalaxyNexusRules Yup, Same exact problem with me, just found this video when searching for 'galaxy nexus multi touch problems

  • @protonus Are you the one that started the google code thread? If it is you should change the priority from medium to high this sucks, I want it fixed NOW. We need more people to add their comments the google issues thread so they fix it faster.

  • @Ku5hFi3nd I'm afraid I didn't start the thread, but I will message him to try and get the priority increased, because, yes, I agree. Unfortunately, I believe this is an issue Samsung has to fix and not google, so I'm not sure it will help.

  • @protonus That sucks. Do you think we'll get this fixed in the next 4.0.3 update or is that just Google?

  • @Ku5hFi3nd Reports I have from people already running 4.0.3 is that this isn't fixed. I don't believe this is something that Google needs to fix though, my instinct (as a software QA engineer) is that the bug resides in the touch driver, which, I would assume comes from Samsung. I believe it's on Samsung to fix. Still, Alerting Google and Verizon to the issue, I think is a good thing to do, as both of them have heavily vested interest into the phone.

  • FAKE

  • @simonviegas Why would I even bother faking this? In what strange universe do you reside? I'm sure I'm faking the other people having this issue too right? Either way, I'm going with: Your comment is fake. There is no way your comment is real. It's a photoshop, I know 'shops - I can see the issue in the pixels. FAKE.

  • @protonus d00d, he's just one of those people that posts 'fake' on any random video lol

  • This is fixed. There was an update today.

  • @Diaqnols Um, no there was no update, 4.0.2 is still the latest, and 4.0.3 is still in testing/not released. Where are you getting your info from?

  • @protonus On 4.0.2, i'm not having this issue for some reason.

  • @Diaqnols 4.0.2 is what I shot this video using, it's not new, it came out the same day as the phone was released.

  • iphone ftw

  • @Bublerkin The iPhone is garbage, and anyone who thinks otherwise is an uneducated, easily influenced, geek wannabe. The only thing the iPhone wins at is making people spend their hard earned money on fragile, underpowered, under performing, over rated, over hyped, proprietary, bullshit. It's a terrible device. I welcome you to open your eyes and consider a real geek's point of view some time on the matter, instead of coffee shop hipster fools.

  • @protonus I know, man. It was a sarcasm :) I own an old Samsung c200n phone and I see no reason to upgrade.

  • lol androidfags

  • @awesome11991 lol generic opposing view trollfags.

  • Got tired of not getting anywhere trying to message Verizon/Samsung/Google about this. So I called Samsung Mobile today Got escalated to their "Executive Customer Relations" department. The guy there watched my video on this issue, went and grabbed a Galaxy Nexus, tried it, and got it to happen. He's escalating this to their Engineer lead thru their internal ticket tracking and he e-mailed him direct. Got a ticket number on the issue and they're supposed to e-mail or call me as it progresses.

  • I think is the game samurai warrior I downloaded that game and when I played it my screen went out. But ever since I finished the game I've had no problems.

  • @CrisAntonioMorelos It's not just that game, or games in general, many games do it. Try Pew Pew, Gun Bros, ShadowGun, etc.

  • It's funny to see Samsung fail once again with their shitty ass products. I have a Samsung Vibrant and it is the worst phone I have ever owned. Every year their top of the line product is a pile of shit.

  • @Peon546 Sigh. Samsung makes the best phones overall, IMHO your statement is far from true. This phone is FAR from shitty, it's THE best phone on the market! The Vibrant is the same phone is my prior one the Fascinate, and it's a great phone.... you do need to load an aftermarket ROM on it though, but that applies to most any Android phone that ISN'T a Nexus. Put CM7 on your phone or an AOSP 2.3.x gingerbread ROM if you don't like it. This is a minor touch screen bug that's all.

  • @Peon546 Be quiet dude. Obviously you have done no research on Samsung whatsoever so don't just make your opinion on one phone. Make it on the whole Samsung smartphone business.

  • fucking stone temple pilots in the backround. good shit

  • @protonus i tried ICS with the Galaxy Nexus and it's so laggy with a live wallpaper. The 3 buttons don't respond when I launch a game and the scrolling in the multitasking view is laggy. Sorry dude

  • @yotoma1 Live wall papers are known to slow down the stock launcher, there is a thread on RootzWiki about it. So yes, that can be laggy. That said most live wallpaper CHEW the battery on android phones. I wouldn't use them anyways when there are AMAZING static wallpapers out there like this that show off the amazing beauty of the SAMOLED HD display! Go to xda-developers and search for the thread "[WALLPAPERS] Pure Black & Bright Colors"

  • @yotoma1 Also, if you're having issues with button esponse or slow recent apps view scrolling, you must have something chewing your CPU up, and it must be REALLY bad because this phone is SUPER fast. I would use a task manager like System Panel to monitor your running apps and processes and see what's up. You may have a malicious or poorly written program, or just too much junk running. With over 150 apps on my phone, I still get smooth scrolling and button response...

  • that screen off animation is quite amazing

  • @jaimemicha Android 2.3.x (Gingerbread) has it as well :-) You should be able to upgrade most any Android phone to at least 2.3.x pretty easily, CM7 is out for most phones which would have it.

  • snow!!!!

  • @scool30000 Informer!

  • Thanks for posting the vid! Have you noticed this bug affecting any non-game apps?

  • @DaCoolidge Once the bug occurs, it affects ALL apps, until you turn the screen off. As far as triggering the bug, i've only had it happen in games. But that's really the only time you're hammering on the screen in multi touch. I'll see if I can get it to happen in something else.

  • awww poor little rich boy has to turn his screen off and on between games.... fuuuuuuck yoooooouuuuuuu..........

  • @TheDeathofGrace Which is it? Am I poor or rich? lol. I assure you I'm not rich, that's pretty funny. I live in an apartment in a low income area, I drive a '91 Skylark as my daily. This phone was partially paid for as a Christmas present from my folks, I couldn't afford it right now even at 2 year contract prices. And no, it's not between games, it's during them and many high end games don't resume from sleep well. PS - you're more like the death of manners. So fuck you too!

  • @protonus My bad. With the 90k views i thought you were one of those people with everything that shows off video after video. I was really only joking in the first place. Even if you were rich i would still have sympathy. Good luck merry christmas.

  • @TheDeathofGrace Heh the 90k views came from the fact that I tipped off engadget to this problem and they ended up putting the story and my video on their front page. Then it got cross linked on a few other major tech/android blogs like tom's Guide, XDA, etc. I originally only made the video to show a few people in the dev chat for the GNex lol. As you can see this is my first/only video. Thanks for the apology, Merry Christmas to you as well :-)

  • Maybe your phone is broken. Get a new one.

  • @7dustakpno1 It's not. It did it out of the box, and many other people are having this problem too just look at the links I provided. It's a software bug. I don't know how many times I'm going to have to explain this...

  • @lopapapa +1

  • @yotoma1 -1

  • @protonus +1

  • @protonus ICS is ugly and laggy -_-

  • @yotoma1 YOU'RE ugly and laggy! x _ x

Seriously, you've obviously never used ICS. Especially if you're saying Windows Phone is better. How's it feel to be in like a 5% minority using a rapidly failing product that even the manufacturer has said hasn't met their expectations for sales (because it sucks?) Don't hate because you're jealous. Just go get a better phone.

  • watch?v=ePfy25sS0Yo

  • @halpwr dude it's STP not Nirvana! lol.

  • Admit it's got a bug for God's sake. The only dislikers are people that don't want to believe their $600 phone has a small bug...

  • i was watching the video but i had to drink my own piss

  • @philipxyi369 I used to be able to recreate this bug, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • @protonus your a faggot

  • @CommonSenceMafia At least I can spell "Sense". LMFAO. Any particular reason for insulting me, or should I just assume you're an angst filled 11 year old who can't spell?

  • @protonus Its called Irony. fun fact, the channels name was spelled that way on purpose. and to answer your question im insulting you because arrow to the knee jokes are fucking stupid

  • @CommonSenceMafia You also spelled "you're" as "your" so I didn't figure spelling was high on your skill list. I don't think spelling has anything to do with common sense. Arrow to the knee jokes are funny when used well, and I used it well as a reply. Which is why I have a top ranked comment on my own video because others agreed. If you don't like it, hit the thumbs down and move on with your life - it's common "sence" you're not going to out troll a troll at trolling.

  • I don't have this problem, hands down, best phone ever.

  • Buy a windows mango phone.

  • @lopapapapa I used to be a Windows Mobile guy, Windows Phone changed everything I liked about Windows Mobile and Pocket PC/CE and turned it into iOS, and managed to make it EVEN uglier with that horrible Metro look. I absoutly hate the way metro looks. Either way, Android is WAYYYYYYYYYY better than Windows Phone. I'm good. The Galaxy Nexus is > * and ICS > *. The only thing that is close to it is the Samsung Note.

  • @protonus Well I have used Android on G2X and I don't like it first off its the same stuff and its laggy. Windows UI looks modern and its so smooth with just single core processor. Only thing with the windows phone I have is the limited storage space because I have installed too many apps on it. Other than that I like every thing about Windows phone. Android doesn't even run smooth on a dual core processor.

  • @lopapapapa The Galaxy Nexus and ICS is incredibly smooth and fast. The browser and the OS is GPU accelerated. The windows UI looks trashy, not modern. ICS looks modern.

  • like this if the channel ihelpUalot neeeeds more videooooos

  • my cats breath smells like catfood

  • I was going to buy it but after this i'm not

  • @askd221 I really wouldn't let this affect your decision. I'm confident we'll have a fix very soon, maybe even in the 4.0.3 update. It's still an amazing phone. You can fix the glitch by turning the screen off/on. And some people still haven't even had it happen to them. Unless you use your phone for primarily gaming you might not even be affected. It's still the best phone around.

  • dont play a multi touch game

  • @Paperboy7979 YOU'RE A GENIUS! THANK YOU!

  • sometimes i like to go under my bed and pretend im a carrot

  • @sospechoso14 You win.

  • @sospechoso14 That made my day. If I had been drinking while reading this I would have liquid coming out of my nose I laughed so hard. Caught me totally off guard. Thanks again, Rich

  • If you have dropped your phone or just used your phone a lot, the touch screen can start to stop working in patches of the screen. If you take it to where you bought it you can probably get it fixed for free or pretty cheap.

  • @HLGJacka That has absolutely nothing to do with this... the phone did this out of the box. It's a bug in the software. The phone is not in any way broken.

  • He didint switch to the other working phone ...

  • why dont i understand most of these comments

  • did u change phones at 1:33? looks suspicious

  • @vomaxHELLnO I picked it up to use Face Unlock. I had my camera on a tripod aimed right where I needed it to demo this hands free. But the lighting in the room was low and it didn't recognize on the first attempt, so I unlocked it manually.

  • thats why i stick to my iPhone :)

  • Galaxy Nexus is the first Android ice cream phone and today nothing comes bugfree (sadly).

See iPhone 4, PSVita, 3DS and more devices.

If I buy something then I first test it myself.

It's very sad that I can't trust any company anymore.

Touchscreen issues are one of the problems who can make you sick of the device.

Didn't they test they're devices of any issues?

  • @Bounty2223 It's a pretty specific issue - I mean the touch on this phone generally is awesome - llo 10 fingers recognized at the same time! I agree it seems like they should have caught it playing some high end games but we know Verizon's testing focuses on cellular related issues, and google's focuses on app compatibility and OS issues, so really it would fall to samsung and I bet they just don't care since it's a dev phone as much. People make mistakes. I just want it fixed.

  • i just use a calculator to play games

  • @MrPenisSandwich Thanks for sharing. The next time I want to go head to head in some siqqq TI-83 action we'll string a home made serial cable between our houses! Oh wait, I'm not in high school 10+ years ago anymore.

  • @protonus will you be my friend

  • @MrPenisSandwich I'll be your hero.

  • @protonus :O

  • i hate to see kids like you saying "oooohhhh touchscreen! its so cool!".. buy a normal thing with BUTTONS and you wont have problems like that sh it

  • @DNS89kanalas Cool story bro. Sounds like I touched a button with you.

  • @DNS89kanalas Also I'm 29. I work in my own office as a Quality Control engineer doing software QA on a development team. I don't think I'm really a kid anymore. YMMV.

  • @protonus Oh that's embarrassing.

  • @DNS89kanalas If you live in a box you won't have to worry about electricity and communications as well but that's not entirely how people want to live.

  • @DNS89kanalas you sir, are retarded.

  • @DNS89kanalas lol yeh but what can you do with those old nokia phones you have, not a whole lot, plus if you could effort this phone, you would get it too,

  • I returned my Galaxy Nexus ...soooooooooo sooo many muli touch problems ... and slow too. :/ I might go back to blackberry or get the iphone.

  • @willwork4superpowazz Slow?! Um, ok... this phone is extremely fast and responsive. And if you go from a GNex to a blackberry you are officially brain damaged.

  • @protonus Well I tried the iPhone today and it's definitely faster, and yes the Nexus is slow. You idolize the Nexus like young people are stereotyped to idolize the iPhone, I've owned all I can make out the facts. Blackberry is a great phone but Android does suck.

  • @willwork4superpowazz Congratulations on being officially crazy. From here on out it's all padded rooms and soft foods, you're living the dream!. I'd ask what on earth you define as slow, or where you're seeing the nexus be slow, but I have a feeling I'm going to get an answer like "i like turtles". So you can refrain from further exposition.

  • @protonus ... I like turtles.

  • @protonus Easy buddy, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You like Android for your own reasons and other people like Apple. Yes they are evil bastards, but not everyone cares for Android. I think Android is amazing and gives you a lot more freedom than Apple does with the iPhone, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it is a piece of junk. To each his own. Thanks for the upload by the way. My wife was thinking about getting this phone.

  • Are people REALLY telling this man to stop gaming on his nexus? Wtf is wrong with people these days. He is just trying to get a bug fixed and you guys are shitting on him. I assume this is why Google is halting the the push of 4.0.3. Man some of these YouTube idiots need to grow up.

  • @Terra028C Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity slightly. It's people like you that keep me from playing real life dead rising at the mall.

  • @blade83336 That's where I saw the Leprechaun. He tells me to burn things.

  • dude buy an iPhone. android failed

  • @mrburns81ify U mad because the Galaxy Nexus is better than the iPhone 4?

  • @mrburns81ify dude buy a clue, if I wanted a massive downgrade, I'd get a Windows Phone long before an iFail. The day I buy an apple product is the same day that Steve Jobs comes back from the grave and raptures all the morons on earth and takes them away to a land full of shiny garbage and proprietary bullshit. I hear the streets in apple heaven are paved with fragile unfortified glass!

  • Damn protonus your defending yourself against your commenters like a BOSS I can't wait to get my nexus this week hopefully this bug won't occur for me but anyway keep up the good work my man

  • @Nickybooze My forum skills are descendent from my adonis ancestors. My typing hands breath fire. My computer is liquid cooled with tiger blood. When I moderate I'm an F-18 and I will destroy you in the air. I'm sure you'll love your Nexus it's an amazing device!

  • GALAXY SII!

  • @TERMINATORPortugal YELLING NAMES OF PHONES THAT DON'T EXIST THAT THIS VIDEO ISN'T ABOUT FOR SOME REASON

    REZOUND 3

    RAZR 4

    TOUCH PRO 5

  • @protonus LOL

  • @protonus the galaxy s ii does exist, we in ireland have had it all year!!

  • @malachymac95 I'm reading these comments over a screen scaled (ie, slightly blurred/shrunken), remote logmein session. The ! in this font looks a lot like I. So GSII! looks like GSIII, which is what I thought he said, hence my joke. It was my bad. I still l think I was funny though ;-p

  • @protonus You dumb bro? He commented Galaxy SII, not SIII, the last I is "!" (exclamation) not another I

  • @lightrescuer Yeah, i think next time i should put (GALAXY S2!) xD

  • @TERMINATORPortugal I'm reading these comments over a screen scaled (ie, slightly blurred/shrunken), remote logmein session. The ! in this font looks a lot like I. So GSII! looks like GSIII, which is what I thought he said, hence my joke. My bad.

  • @protonus

    Galaxy SII exists dumbshit

  • @ccaian1 I'm reading these comments over a screen scaled (ie, slightly blurred/shrunken), remote logmein session. The ! in this font looks a lot like I. So GSII! looks like GSIII, which is what I thought he said, hence my joke. Thanks for pointing that out though, asshat.

  • I have confirmed this with Sonic CD. This needs a fix for sure...

  • @Bristecom If you haven't already, please post in the two links I put int he description, especially the google code one, to indicate you hve this issue. It will help get it fixed faster and you'll be notified when there is a fix.

  • @protonus Just did. Thanks.

  • Must just be your phone. I just downloaded the same app and my multi touch works fine. Its also buttery smooth. You should exchange yours bra.

  • @urmombentover as I've mentioned over and over again, you can't simply just test the multi touch. You must play a game like Pew Pew, Gun Bros, ShadowGun, etc until you have issues, THEN you'll see it in the tester app. It is not my phone. Many other people have this problem. It's a bug in the touch driver.

  • @protonus we will miss U. I mean really grow up!

  • @mrlbattle1 What do you even mean by that?

  • Not having that problem

  • @OfficialKO93 SSee above comments, the phone IS intended to be a gaming advice, MUCH of what is built into android is to support high end games. Thanks for playing. Herp derp.

  • Just buy an iPhone and install Dreamboard

  • @CometLol I would rather stab myself in the eye with a hypodermic from an AIDS clinic.

  • @protonus damn dude thats just a little too far there. iphone aint that bad!

  • @charlieatthemountain Nah the iPhone/iPod/iPad/iFail is actually worse than I even said. Extremely fragile, over priced, underpowered, under speced, outdated, over hyped, proprietary, unserviceable garbage aside - It's a device that Apple literally has blood on it's hands for, for the lives of DOZENS of of overseas underpaid slave laborers. Apple is about as evil as a corporation can be. They have the balls to use outsourced slave labor and then beg for tax breaks here.

  • @protonus but still, you must would rather have to use an iphone, then have aids, wouldn't you.

  • I have same issue with my Google nexus one, so this is software issue, android has some bugs, they need to fix them.

  • @vbp222 the nexus one issue, is unfortunatly a hardware one. It has very poor multi touch compared to today's devices. The Galaxy Nexus can detect all 10 of your fingers at the same time, the Nexus One struggled with even 2. This particular problem is different, it's a software bug that's fixed when the screen recalibrates which happens whne you turn the screen off/on.

  • Thanks to all guys who had problems with their devices. Without you, we won't pre-see those issues on our desired gadgets. :D

  • @yojgee I'm always an early adopter, my day job is doing software QA and beta testing so it's something I don't mind and am used too, I like helping people out.

  • seems like you are the unlucky one, haha..

  • I also have the bug. hoping its an easy fix

  • @droidxism Please post in the two links in the description that you are please! It should help get it fixed faster and you'll be notified when it is.

  • no issue here

  • he's a definitely an apple troll. there are multiples of same videos uploaded today already.

  • @dcdgoth Are you talking about me biatch? I have only posted this one video. There are other people posting videos about this after they saw mine because THEY HAVE THE PROBLEM TOO. Herp derp god you're dumb. I am the farthest thing from an apple troll you could imagine. I loathe apple with every fiber of my being. I love android, and I love my Galaxy Nexus. I just hate this bug.

  • Get a fucking xbox you dumbass and stop complaining about how games on a phone doesnt work obviously the phone wasnt meant for playing games so stop bitching about it.

  • @IRawEdits Hey, douchebag. Get a fucking clue. The phone has a 1280x720p screen with a dual core processor and a fast GPU. If you think it WASN'T built for gaming than you're retarded. I have 3 Xboxes actually, one modified 360, one stock 360, and a modified xbox1. I am an avid gamer. But - I'M NOT ALWAYS AT HOME. Gasp. And guess what, sometimes when I'm not home, I still want to game. Maybe if you left your house too instead of trolling youtube you'd understand.

  • No one ever said it was essential. Stop caring if you can't stand it!

Form those having the issue: seems the bug is caused while loading a game, because Tür Ing the screen off and on helped @ contract killer

  • oh and no verizon or else involved, it's in germany...
