  • I didn't know about this... I did something similar this past summer on my motorcycle. It was for an organization at Iowa State called Dance Marathon where we raise money for the Children's Miracle Network at University of Iowa Children's Hospital! Just search, "Where the dM is Derek?" Check it out! Enjoy :)

  • I love Iowa,as a farmer from Europe you gotta love such a state, I crossed it twice from E to W, it's one of my favourite states in the US

  • Awesome! As an Iowa native it's cool to see someone show all the cool stuff there is. My mom grew up in Dayton and I grew up in Johnston.

  • Ummmmmm.made me smile at a real bad time...Good sign..therefore a real great video..Heart healing somehow..Thank -you >.thumbs up! karen

  • Ummmmmm.made me smile at a real bad time...Good sign..therefore a real great video..Heary healing somehow..Thank -you >.thumbs up! karen

  • Ron Paul 2012!

Ron Paul wasn't born. He liberated himself from the womb.

Studies by the World Health Organization show that Ron Paul is the leading cause of freedom among men.

Ron Paul can fly, but doesn't because its unconstitutional.

Ron Paul doesn't cut taxes. He kills them with his bare hands.

  • @skatelongboards Would like to know more about this person,...I would like to more about someone who could pull me out of a month of tragetiesand make me smile....Karen

  • Love your video dude! Iowa is the best....very much like my home province of New Brunswick here in Canada. All the best to you ....!

  • You missed Mason City... and you didn't go to any of the obvious places I figured you'd go to in Waterloo. And you should have gone into the church in Festina; there is literally like 2 rows and that's it lol.

  • Who is playing in the Woodward game

  • @Thekweve Woodward-Granger and West Marshall

  • Out of ll of the states I've been to, Iowa is the most beautiful and friendly

  • I've not lived in Iowa for more than 20 years but your video brought back some fond memories. Well done!

  • I was waiting for Marion County or Knoxville. Thanks for the vid though, living way out here I tell people I'm from Iowa and all I get is blank looks and "Don't you have corn/cows/pigs?" I try to explain it to them, a president, John Wayne, Field of Dreams, the cows in Des Moines, sprint cars, etc. but they get the 'thats nice dear' look and treat me like I'm 5. Gahh! Now I'll just show them this and say "See!!"

  • Where's Red Oak?! You went to Shen' and not Red Oak? I see a problem with this video...no Red Oak, Wakuee or Ankeny. Major towns...well Red Oak is bigger then Shen' by just a little.

  • Love it! But when you were in NW Iowa, how did you miss Everly.... home of the Cattlefeederettes?! (1966 Girls State Basketball Champs & state contenders for 8 or 10 years in a row...) Kidding - it was great. As another "Recovering Iowan", I really enjoyed this. :)

  • Uhhh where's Ankeny?

  • Pocahontas!!! =D

  • Ididn't see ya dancin with the Amish, in Kalona, Fox Valley, Drakesville, Pulaski or Bloomfield. Eldon home the Red Rooster Inn, also home to the house in American Gothic, speaking of American Gothic, Cedar Rapids and Grant Wood's studio. Please don't forget Williamsburg, and the town square, and the pride of Jefferson County, Fairfield, one last request in Dyersville the Basilica St. Francis Ignatius.

  • they were both mentioned:)

  • vaya mierda

  • I wonder if they got lost in Stone City lol

  • So running in place and flailing your arms about is considered dancing?

  • Seriously, Alta, but not Cherokee....

  • I thought this video was really neat!!!! I know a lot of the communities and it was fun seein them on here!!!!

  • Going to Iowa? Take the "California Zephyr" it stops at Osceola, Creston, Burlington, Mt Pleasant. Yes, it can run late and be sold out. But Iowa has no passenger rail program, never did. That's why Des Moines their major city and business center has no train service. Never did have Amtrak. The Dubuque train was dropped years ago because Iowa won't help Illinois pay for it! Dubuque is in Iowa! Nice state, but the road lobby runs the DOT.

  • Awesome - although I don't live in Iowa any longer, it really gave me that cozy home feeling! Iowa is a great place.

  • I'm from Iowa, so its nice to see some familiar cites. I was only disappointed not to see my home town...Keokuk. Though I guess there isn't really anything exciting to dance in front of there.....

  • The original crazy frog

  • Comment removed

  • Great videos, can't get enough of them. Makes me a bit homesick for that great state of ours. Someday I hope to cure that for good. I've even had aspirations of emulating your video with a 99 county motorcycle trip. Go Cyclones!

  • When you were in des moines that building you were standing in front of was where my dad works

  • Holy crap! During the ragbrai part i saw one of my parents team mates, goo team angry!! There doing ragbrai right now too! Its so wierd...

  • Serious u didnt go by humboldt?

  • @oingeoister23 XD Ikr? I use to live there. I feel all sad now,

  • @shikalov I still live here, can't wait to get out! It is cheap to live here, but it can be very boring! Things are getting better in Des Moines. But Minneapolis is leading their way. We'll see if we go backwards in November or keep going forward.

  • camp dodge and that tank gets pissed on a lot

  • i was wondering where Muscatine was in all of that???

  • you shoulda come too lake view

  • And you didn't stop at pilot knob state park either...ha

  • Aww... Come on you didn't stop in forest city where they make Winnebagos?

  • @Ashleevaz09 I did but I couldn't get close to anything cool to dance in front of!

  • Winnebagos, yes, that's just what America needs, Winnebagos. Who spilt the oil in gulf? BP? No, we did.

  • @HK83IE Iowa has over a billion 750 million to spend every year on highways. And nothing else! Soon all these things will be paved over by the DOT in Aimless.

  • Mont rest in Bellevue is great

  • My dad's name is Jeff and he's also from Iowa. Weird!!

  • dude you gotta hit up the kelley phone booth!!!!!! do it i live there.

  • u did burlington 2ice.

  • Nicely, nicely done man! Loved the martini at the end. As a displaced Iowan, I loved it.

But ... where was Newton??? Iowa Speedway, Maytag Dairy, the courthouse at Christmas ... ???

  • @stewc625 Check out Where in Iowa is Jeff...The Sequel - Newton's in it!

  • I am from Council Bluffs Iowa. why didn't you visit the black angel or the Lincolns monument?

  • You've got me all homesick now, Jeff! Thanks for posting this and good work! I never thought I would miss Iowa, but guess what?

  • This made me smile! I can not wait to get home and show my family! Suggestions for the 3rd installment, Kimballton (little mermaid), Earling (1928 last sanctioned exorcism) and Exira (the plow in the tree). Have fun!!

  • Who says white men can't dance?!

    ~Brian Hoskinson

    (Tacoma, WA)

  • Hey, brother from another mother! We Hoskinsons can dance with the best of 'em. Well, at least the middle tier of 'em.

  • Thanks!

  • Already did tour #2, and yes, I did go to Sac County - visited Sac City and Odebolt. Look for "Where in Iowa is Jeff? - The Sequel"

  • Where's Matt ?

  • Lexluther20, don't be such a young donk!

The only bad thing about Iowa is that as a state, they voted for Obama

  • Again thanks for sharing iowa and osting this video, i'd like to be able to do the samewithin greater vancouver. I'll send it off to a few contacs.

  • Thanks for the kind words! My videos are just a knockoff of the "Where the Hell is Matt?" videos - an excuse to get around Iowa to see things.

  • It's really by accident that I came across this video! I had typed out "26 miles ames bros" and I saw a whole lot of choices and yours was the first of the lot, out of interest I checked it out as it really isn't the video by the ames bros. Anyway nicely put together, I'll never see the state but I'm surprized just how much there is in a state that's about 1/3 the size of British Colunbia(province) in Canada. I'm coming to you from Vancouver, where we have mountains and beaches. thx & lol!

  • hey we are the number one pork producer in the world, we feed the world. i would hate so it the world with out iowa. GO CORN. iowa is the best.

  • GO SHENANDOAH AT 3:21

  • great video ! i just moved to iowa and i would love to see a lot of the places you featured. thanks ! :)

  • I can't say I'm familiar with the "wherethehellismatt" site or concept, but your video really makes me want to travel out east even more and the simple fact that you put the video to Satriani really kept me going, he's, BY FAR, one of my favorite artists.

  • whats the song at the beggining of the video

  • It's the song played on Matt Harding's around-the-world dance video. If I remember right, it's a version done for his video of a very old folk song from a Solomon Islands tribe. (More than you wanted to know, isn't it?)

  • Go Iowa!

  • I was doing a search for MH's video when I came across this and of course had to click; and I'm glad I did. At first I wasn't sure but jdhoskinson, you won me over about two minutes in. But DUDE what about OTTUMWA?!?! What were you thinking? leaving out the home of RADAR O'REILLY (sp?)and Tom Arnold and ummm RICHARD BACH the author of Jonathan Livingston Seagull

who used to live down the street from me? Other than that it was just great! and how nice of MH to show up to do a cameo for you.

  • I've been to a lot of these places, because I live in iowa!! field of dreams, spook cave, maquoketa cave, pikes peak, you should've really gone to backbone, but I don't go see places much. did you go to cedar rapids? brucemore mansion is there, and the czech village used to be there, but got flooded out and they'll have to destroy the historic part of the city. you should've gone to the amana colonies, great stuff there. I know what I'm missing. xD great job

  • Actually, I did go through Garner on my way to Algona for the Cheeto shot in the sequel. Stopped and got gas there (for the car, not a commentary about the food in Garner).

  • ha well thats sweet!

  • Is that what you were pointing to in the Algona clip? I had no clue.

  • You were in West Bend. You should have come a mile up the road to Whittemore!

  • and to good ole Rolfe!

  • cool i live in marion

  • until 2 years ago, I did too - still work there, in fact

  • I live in Burlington, and WE LIKE YOU, TOO! Also, you should check out Manly Woods, Iowa, if for no other reason than the hilarity of its name. :D

  • I live in Iowa! ;-) Yeah, some people think we play baseball with a stick and a rock... thats not true! Iowa is amazing and btw I LOVE the Red Wings! My fav team eva! :-) GOOD JOB!

  • i live in iowa 2! i think it is freaking funny that people think we play baseball with a stick and a rock! lol!!!!

  • name one person outside of iowa who can verify what you said, that he or she thinks iowans play ball with sticks and rocks.

  • If you go to the Sci Center of Iowa they have interveiws with people from around the world on what they think of iowa and there is a girl, i think from Washington DC, dont quote me on the place but, but she says thats what Iowans do, play baseball with a rock and a stick, And also i was in Minnesoda and a guy asked me if we play baseball with a stick and a rock. It was interesting...

  • Wasn't the madison country bridge burn down by some arsonist? idk maybe it was a different bridge.

  • Jeff this is awesome! As a fellow Iowan I have to say that you did an excellent job of getting to as many places in our state as possible. Other than the dancing (which was silly) and the Red Wings' jersey (I hate the wings) this was awesome! Thanks!

  • yea go pocahontas/poky

  • Didnt see Muscatine in video 1 or 2. Would be nice to see you dancin on our Mississippi riverfront trail or at Mark Twain overlook, overlooking the Norbert Beckey bridge.

    BTW... Love the Satriani music!

  • great to see other iowa videos!!!!!

  • Great! I love it! Part 2 better include Lake Mills! After all, we have the Norwegian Immigrant Monument! lol And Diamond Joe Casino is right down the road.

  • What's this "lol"??? I did visit Lake Mills and WIJ2 WILL include the Promise of America monument. C'mon, how could I forget that? Thanks for the love!

  • Sorry! Not being Norwegian makes me like a minority around the area. We have even lovingly given the monument a nickname. Can't wait to see the sequel! If I would have known you were in the area I would have taken you for drinks! :)

  • Jeff, I'm in the Army and have lived all over (California right now), but Iowa will always be home. Whenever I need a little shot of reality, I watch this video. Hooray for the shots of Council Bluffs, Ames and DSM, the three cities where I've lived, and still three of the best places I've ever been.

  • i live in texas now

  • So...My roommate said you visited the Danish Windmill today (She works there). So we looked you up and this is awesome! Can't wait to see what you've got next!

  • Hey Jeff! It's Sammi LeRoy, hope you remember me. When I visited you guys almost a year ago you told me to youtube this and I finally remembered. Its halarious! I can tell you took a lot of time into making this and it is definately worth a few laughs. You have some pretty sweet moves, haha. Tell everybody I say hi, and tell Brittany to call me!

Miss you guys! - Sammi LeRoy

  • i just read in the info, you are from woodward? did you graduate here?

  • Yep, good ol' W-G class of 80. Lived right behind the post office til I was 20. The clip was shot during last year's West Marshall game.

I'm guessing the tornado missed your house by about the length of the football field? Too close..

  • I love it man! That clip of you in Woodward is right in my back yard, the white house you would have been facing while the football game played out in front of you! Awesome video man.

  • HAHA good job !

  • boooooo

  • GO REDWINGS! Detroit rules

  • You guys are sooooo right. Back to back Stanleys are coming!

  • AWESOME Jersey at the end! Go Wings!

    Steve Yzerman is the man!

  • Did you dance with Matt first and then decide this video? (It's awesome by the way)

  • Nope, I was maybe 80% done with mine when I danced with Matt in Chicago in September 2007 for his latest video. I sure didn't expect to get this clip to include in my video!!!

  • PS I love the Dyserville Field Of Dreams part........you know the team doesn't run out of the filed there anymore :( they stopped that last year.

  • Yes, I did know that. In fact, the day I shot that clip was the last day they emerged from the corn, so it was both a very festive day and a sad one, too.

BTW, you'll see the Wapsi Mill in WIJ2, which will be posted in about 3 months.

    Thanks for the kind words!
