No, between the torque converter and rev limiter, the motor never strains or revs very high. when cruising you can barely hear the motor. the wind noise is louder. even at top speed, just over 70, the motor is not revving very high, kinda of like when you are going down the highway in your car. the performance of the scooter is very good. it will hold it's own in any traffic situation on surface streets. I don't don't take it on the interstate though.
