Make sure you're coming from your diaphragm rather than your throat. Throat growling will only tear the tissue around your vocal folds. :)

I've got my growling set, just working on diaphragm technique. Still figuring out my screams though, to do them properly. Seems a bugger. But 9 times out of 10, if you're in a band situation and you're playing a gig or whatever; You don't need to worry because it'll sound good anyway. Usually. Unless you're an emo fuck.

Nice video. I've just about gotten the hang of doing death growls and some mid-tone screams and shit but this helped me with pronunciation. I need to work on balancing out grit and clearness in my growls but this video helped me out a bit! I could work on making them a bit lower tho because they are kind of "shouty" at this point.

My growls sound fucking awesome, but i have such a problem from not doing it from the throat. really pisses me off. i use my diaphragm, but i just cant use it to actually enhance my voice. So therefore, in my band I can growl for backup vocals and its sounds awesome. but i cant do it for long at all. hurts my throat too much. i know im doing it wrong but its just quite frustrating trying to get it right. great video though :)
