When Dave's version of "the stumble" came out it was a slap in the face equivalent to that taken by millions of kids (including me) when Eddie Van Halen came out a dozen years later....
Playing like this and with this sound in 68 was huge.
goddamn! I haven't heard this since about 1970, and it still sounds great. I didn't think it could ever live up to my memory of it, but hey, it's Dave Edmunds! He really was (and is) that good.
hey thanks for posting! my dad told me to look this up on tab, couldn't find it so i came to youtube :) now to do it the old fashioned way, by ear :)
You could get a similar distorted effect by plugging the guitar direct into the console and it would overload the channel slightly causing that sort of sound.
'Though that raises the question 'How did they get the undistorted bit'? Hmmm....
But if fuzztone's right they were even cleverer than that - Tho how they stopped it catching its claws in the strings kinda beats me ;-)
.John Mayall / Bluesbreakers, Peter Green guitar: "Hard Road", '67. Love Sculpture, Dave Edmunds guitar : "Blues Helping", '68. Mayall was already playing it live '65, with Eric Clapton on guitar. Freddy King recorded it first, '61. all three are the same tune with a similar arrangement , but there are some very different improvised guitar riffs on each version.

Fuckarama. If that's Dave Edmunds, that's a pretty definitive tilt at that! A blast.
