  • i wish she was the one singing this on the CD

  • WHOA!!! WHOA!!!

I have been obsessed with this song lately...whoa she is good...great...amazing...incredible song for her voice

  • Did she play Elphaba? I recognize her form somewhere but can't put my finger on it...

  • yeh she did i think in LA and maybe even on broadway x

  • Lisa played Elphie on Broadway as standby for Julia Murney and in Chicago. :)

  • ah. the best voice, and she is so stunningly beautiful:) im a bit in love with here eyes:) they tell so much

    (sorry the crap english)

  • BEAUTIFUL!!! I especially love the strings!

  • Goosebumps! Scott you never cease to amaze us.

You write from the heart and that is truly genuine.

  • I'm crying here.

For me the biggest compliment you can give a composer.

This music is so touching and just so beautiful.

God, never stop making that beautiful music Mr. Alan!

  • this is great!!!! my favorite is still neverland, but this is a close second!!!! Keep writing, Mr. Alan!!!

  • oh man, this is my first time hearing this song. absolutely beautiful. she's incredible.

  • Hey, Scott, you're gonna write a song for Nicole Parker to sing next, right? ;)

  • My wings soar ever higher hearing such a glorious voice singing this beautiful song! I Love the talents of the songwriter and vocalist.

  • LOVE THIS SONG

  • Lisa brings an incredible maturity and beautiful tone to this song. No one does it better.

  • SHE is magic.

    =***(

    amazing.

    <3

  • I am crying. Beautiful!

  • me too!

  • Your so free in your performing! I love you!

  • lisa is my favorite.

  • this is magic.

  • I'm so glad Scott keep nabbing all these Wicked actresses to sing his songs!! This was gorgeous.

  • I saw Lisa play Elphaba in Wicked. I've seen 4 Elphabas, and she was hands down the best. I got the chills. I know all those songs by heart, but they've never made me cry before...I wish I could see her play that role again! She's such an amazing singer...

  • I must say, I did not like this song when I heard it on the CD. But with Lisa singing, it adds the element that it was missing and now I love this song!

  • I completely agree. I mean, the song is a great song but the Lisa's voice just suits the song better, in my opinion. She's amazing.

  • This is such a phenomanal song and wow does she sing it incredibly

  • I love this song. You can catch me singing it everytime I take a walk around the neighborhood lol

  • and this song is lovely scott! you are so talented, and even if people didn't know what kind of talent this takes, they are able to begin to understand from the reaction of your audience and the praise the singers themselves give you on how they fell in love with your music!

  • oh man i absolutely love lisa brescia

i stage door'd her at wicked in chicago and i wish i could have told her how amazing she was but i was so much in awe by her absolutely beautiful performance and then seeing what an incredible sweetheart she was in person just left everything that night so surreal that im pretty sure all i said was like that was really good! or somthing terribly dull to that sort, she definately deserved so much more

  • how could he even think about cutting this song?!

  • he didnt cut the song, its just lisa doesnt perform it on the album

  • I saw her as Elphaba on Broadway and she was amazing and met her after the show and was so nice and she totally owned this song! Yea, Lisa pretty much wins at life!!

  • I really didn't like this song on the C.D. because of the singer, I mean I thought she had a beautiful voice and all but I just didn't like it. However, when Lisa Brescia sang this I'm totally in love with it! You can just see the emotion in her face on and in her voice, she is just magnificent! :) :) :)

  • If you succeed I'll give you everything All the love locked in my heart All that's lost within my soul It will take something more than any modern miracle It will take magic Yes, magic And I deserve magic Yes, I deserve magic I want magic! Lost in a daze Tell me what am I still doing here I should have vanished I should be gone before you wake
  • Yes, I deserve a way out of this life that I am living

try to save me, try to free me if you can

'Cause all the knights and the kings and the warriors

and a thousand men who claim to love me, never could

But I want to you to try

  • Lost in a daze

    Confused by these emotions

Should I stay so deeply in his arms?

No man I've known has ever seemed to touch me the way he did

    My heart wants to run

While the rest of me is curious

Exactly how do you plan to keep me here?

Is it your touch? or your kiss? or one single night of pleasure?

Or is it magic? Yes, there was magic

    And I deserve magic

  • So where can I get the lyrics to this song? I looked all over ther internet.

  • This is awesome. Love her

  • i saw lisa as amneris in Aida in march 2004. the day before i saw Steph as Liza in Boy from oz lol. Lisa was incredible then and still is now

  • she looks so haunted in this song...it's amazing. she's an unbelievable performer, and this is a beautiful song.

  • And, Lisa's eyes alone say a lot. It's as if she's talking through them...they're very expressive...if that makes sense. =/

  • Lisa is so amazing.

  • I'd never heard her before....but this girl is fantastic. Really nice, pure, clean voice

  • I love how alot of the women who sang these songs by him went on/or already were elphaba in Wicked. SJB, Shoshana, Eden, Lisa, they all were elphabas.

  • Oh yes.

    This is great.

  • Perfect.

  • I FREAKING LOVE HER! I watch this every day :D

  • I love love love her version of this song, but Eden's is my favorite. But both are incredible.

  • I love this woman...and this song !!!

  • she is so amazing!! I love this song too! You know who I'd like to hear sing this one? Stephanie J Block. I bet she'd be awesome!! Not that Lisa's not though cause she rocks it!! lol I'm just curious to see what steph would sound like

  • I do like Lisa's better as well. I'm an Eden fan but I prefer Lisa on this one

  • I think I like Lisa's better, and I am a HUGE Eden fan too! I think Lisa's emothion was nice, they both sang it very well

  • I love this version of Magic. I think Lisa has the most connection with the song than anyone else I've seen =)

  • she is absolutely perfect.

  • Lisa is the Chicago Elphaba now. I've never seen her in person but she does have a beautiful voice. I actually prefer the "mature" voice. SJB is in the same range, Mezzo-soprano. Just personal taste, I guess.

  • thank god shes elphaba now.

  • Lisa Brescia is one of the most amazing performers and sweetest people I've ever met.

When Piece is finally finished and ready for Broadway, after having all these amazing women sing the songs how could you ever choose?!

Lisa needs a leading original role all to herself because she is just too good for words, as evident in this video.

  • I just recently bought "Dreaming Wide Awake" on iTunes. After listening obsessively for days, this song has become far and away my favorite. Its melodic beauty and meaningful lyric really connect with me. Thank you so much for writing such wonderful music, Scott. I just purchased your 9-pack of sheet music and look forward to singing this song in particular.

  • I'm not sure. Don't get me wrong, she is just lovely. It is such a beautiful song.

  • I love how a lot of the singers were/are all Elphabas!!!

  • lisa, eden, shoshana, stephanie

    yay :D!

    did i forgot someone?

  • Tonite, I'd love this song even more if it was sung by a man.

  • is it written for a man? or is it just your opinion?

  • This song is so beautiful, Scott. Really, it is. Eden's version of this song is actually the only thing that I really like from her, and hearing it from Lisa...it's just amazing. The lyrics are so powerful, and the emotion these women put into their performances...you are truly blessed to have such wonderful women singing your amazing work.

  • TRY listening to "once upon a time" from her. That and "magic" are my two favs from her

  • From Eden? I've seen it. It's ok. I'm just not a huge Eden fan. Now if Scott could get Idina to sing for him!!! Hahaha. : )

  • OMG you speak with Lisa and Eden????? OMG I LOVE THEM BOTH <3 They are so amazing! This is an amazing video :) Greatt Quality and audio!

  • This song about makes me cryy!

The emotion she put into her performance is so exceptional.

  • i love lisa.. she is incredible! she reminds me a lot of julia... =)

  • the whole cd has such beautiful cello, piano, and violin parts.

and of course the lyrics are brilliant

  • I already listen it with Eden and Julia Murney! Both of them are wonderful, and now listening Lisa, I'm falling in love again (with this music), and all scott allan's music! He's so brilliant! Also Lisa is amazing! Thanks for upload this!

  • Amazing. Simply amazing.

  • This is an amazingly written song and Lisa is just fantastic, great work!

  • Wow, what a great song. I saw Lisa Brescia as Elphaba this past Halloween and she was incredible. What a powerhouse, and what a beauty! Her voice is so crystal clear, it's amazing. I hope she gets to play Elphaba on Broadway after Ms. Block. I don't know much about "Piece", but if it's new, I hope she gets a part in the show just so I could hear her sing this song live!

  • This song is gorgeous.

    Lisa is amazing.

    And Scott is BRILLIANT.

I fall in love with every song a little more each time I listen. Jason Robert Brown is my favorite composer of all time, and Scott is very quickly moving right up there with JRB!

  • I'm so glad you want to put it back in!! Please do!!

  • I saw Lisa in October as Elphaba. She was absolutely incredibe, what a great voice. Excellent acting as well, I hope she gets the role after Ms. Block.

  • she isn't Kerry ellis from london is taking over on bway

  • too amazing

  • Scott, I love that Lisa makes you want to put 'Magic' back into 'Piece'. I fell in love with this song a long time ago when I heard Julia sing it (I still have a copy on Cd from your Piece MySpace). Then I heard Eden sing it and fell in love again. But after hearing Lisa I don't know what I would do if 'Piece' finally opened and 'Magic' wasn't a part of it. Scott, this song is amazing. Please don't turn your back on it.

  • How amazing is Lisa? I love, love, love her! So beautiful and what a gorgeous voice to boot!

    Lisa pwns <3
