  • This is exactly the type of music that should be in the charts. I dislike the charts so much, my friends think I'm joking when I say I don't even know their names. (If I was in my 40s, they'd expect it, but not at 14...) My dad got me even more familiar with Mark Knopfler, after I bought a CD of the Dire Straits. I'm shocked at how shops get away with selling Justin Beiber or whatever for £20, but Mark Knopfler and great musicians for £3...! Doesn't make sense.

  • What a great duo. They should be required to do an album a year from now until forever. Emmy Lou could be the most beautiful woman on earth. She gets more lovely every year.

  • It's got a country-western, American feel to it, with an Irish sea-shanty sound! The again, maybe I've got a complete tin ear. Beautiful.

  • Don't worry, san... You've got it exactly.

A legendary Geordie guitarist/songwriter with the cajun queen of country music. great match, amazing song...

  • thats exactly where bluegrass and country music of the west came from- irish and english country songs, balllots and sea faring sailor songs :)

  • I don't think it's anything to do with themm but a tribute to the guys that travel around the country, riding the "wall of death". Saw it years ago, where they ride a motorbike very fast round and round in what looks like a giant vertical tube. Scary stuff. But just another example of Knopfler's ability to find great subjects for songs.

  • You must know richard Thomson's Wall of Death, by your words...

Exactly the only better song for you

  • Is this song from an album and if so, which one. Thank you for any information provided.

  • I went to a show on this tour it was very nice

  • Thanks Mark for adding music to our lives.

  • The song was meant for them and they were meant for the song. A perfect juxtaposition. It's on my top 101 "Road Songs."

  • Thank you,Emmylou & Mark.

I'm one of the remaining dreamers, too.

  • so good... i love mark knopfler, and emmylou harris is pretty awesome too.

  • Still don't get the lines about the wall...

  • I think he's drawing an analogy with a wall of death.

  • I sorta get that, but why does it go here?

  • I guess that when you're doing live performances it's a matter of being fully committed to the gig (fast and high). Do it properly or not at all.

  • Wow, I'd loved to get this LA concert dvd, great voice and instrument quality...and Markie, just the best, what a gift for lyrics

  • Two of my favourites together! MAGIC!

  • nice song!

  • unbelievable. Probably my favorite song of all time, it doesn't get any better than this duet.

  • I love Mark Knopfler's voice. It is Earthbound and honest. His guitar strikes an emotional tone with me and seems effortless.

Emmylou is an Angel and her voice is heavenly. Her guitar (in this song) is better than Knopflers because it is more musically efficient. It is not better, but seems to cover the emotions more for me.

    They are great together!

  • Simply sublime.

  • "There´s a man in every corner" beautiful voice... lovely!!!

  • i worship and adore to emmylou harris...

  • knopler is a PROPHET!!!!

  • no! he is just a poor servant of God. Like you,me, and all of us.

  • this is one of my all-time FAVORITE songs. its incredible!!

  • Mark is greater

  • That was WONDERFUL ... check out that " Real Live Roadrunning " DVD , SPLENDID !!! ... feels like you' re seat ... on the stage : )
