@Hiraghm I was not referring to the landslide election loss of Mondale/Ferraro now was I talking about left vs right political philosophy - I was referring to Ferraro vs. Palin as individual candidates and their respective competence. Palin comes across as erratic, unintelligent, annoying and well...plain dangerous. Her comments are always more randomizing than anything else. Ferraro impressed me with her diction and understanding of the issues.

While Ferraro and Palin may be the only 2 women from the 2 major parties to be vice presidential candidates, numerous women have been candidates for both president and vice president in many of the much smaller parties, like the Liberatarians, the Green, Peace and Freedom ect. Of course those candidates never have any chance, as those parties are just a big joke.

I remember Ferraro said how excited she was when McCain chose Palin because she was no longer the only woman to be a vice presidential candidate after 24 years. She like many was also excited because with Obama on the Democratic ticket and Palin on the Republican one, the nation was going to see an historic first one way or another!!

Toni Nathan was the first woman VP candidate on the Libertarian Party ticket in 1972. While she and John Hospers did not win any states, Roger MacBride cast an electoral vote for them as a maverick elector from VA. Thus neither of these ladies were first to run for VP, neither was first to receive an electoral vote, and if you were to have Toni Nathan on screen with these two ladies you have a scoop indeed.
