I haven't played Shattered Memories since it's not been released here yet.

I thought Homecoming was good, but some of the character graphics were really shoddy. I personally think that SH4 had the best graphics; no nasty glitches or occasional mess-ups.

I have it and have this to say. It's one of the best looking on the Wii, yes there is no weapon, and somehow it make lot of sense. that's really is a reimagining and not a remake the base of the story is the same, HArry MAsson search is daughter after a car crash... but all the remaining of the story is highly different, and good. It's nearly as deep as SH2

Dr.K in the game will ask you questions. and your answer as well as you will play the game will change the apparance of the characters and personallity to some point. What does it matter if the logo looks simple? no of the silent hill logos have really been that spectacular. (besides 2). The series is in good hands with Climax. They saved Origins from being a Resident Evil 4 copy. As far as your graphics argument, graphics do not matter for shit. The best games of all time have terrible graphics by today's standard (Look at Final Fantasy VII). and as for Harry's appearance, 1999, he didn't look like anything because of graphics limits.

All a matter of opinion. You thought FFVII was one of the best games of all time, I thought it was shite. Graphics matter to me; but not to you. The reason I can stomach SH1's graphics is because they were the height of graphics for their time.

The fog in SH was used because the mapping and aliasing could draw ahead of you only so far. Luckily it added to the atmosphere perfectly.

Yet what is so bad about seeing the glass as half full? Should we be rabid fans shooting down every attempt not done by team silent?

Stuff like this to me is not worth getting emotional over. If you don't like this little endeavor don't buy. If you are curious DO buy. It's freedom of choice.

That said a re-release of the classic SH would be nice.

When I first heard the "no weapons" idea, I thought it was going to be horrible. But as I thought about it more, it just might work. Survival Horror is gone, now theres only Action Horror. So by removing any means to fight back, your forced to use wits to actually survive. I just hope the AI is good enough. And everything will change in the game according to your answers on a test from the start (monsters, levels, story, etc.) We'll just have to wait and see later this year... hopefully.

Sorry this is a late response but just wanted to ask if you heard of the game Siren: Blood Curse. One of the original Silent Hill creators made that game and it is a true Survival Horror. Thought I'd share that with you if you missed it and since you seem to like that genre.

I like how the characters appear different depending on your psyche evaluation. Kinky open-shirt Cybil is 1 variant. I saw another version of her where she looked like a professional cop.

My problem is so far all the creatures attacking Harry look the same.

Apparently they made Dahlia "hawt". I don't mind eye candy but Dahlia is supposed to look run down, tired, and subtly mad, not like she is a centerfold suicide girl. Hopefully that is just one alternate version of her.

If you think about it it's really a game that takes place after the first silent hill and revisits it through "shattered memories," I'm also guessing this is what happened to harry if you got the worst possible ending in the first game.

That's my take on it, so yes it is a reimagining and not a remake (i guess you'll have to beg team silent for a remake)

I think it is still 2 early to judge SHSM. If im not mistaken no video footage is even out there yet. But I can say this, what they did with the "new" SH 1 toons they have really messed up especially Harry. What they need to do is make the future SH games like SH 1-3, those were great games that I like to play to this day for fun. From SH 4 and on the games really went down for me. They claim they r taking SHSM back to the SH roots, if thats true, then it might be a good game.

I agree. I (and many others) wanted a Silent Hill 1 remake and they've given us a "reimagining"...which at first said to me "it's going to be a crap version of a remake" I read more interviews and realised that only a few things are going to be true to the original. Maybe they were scared that if they made an actual remake they might screw it up, so they've scrapped it all to make this "reimagining." I hope that it's worth it in the end and that something good might come from it. We'll see!

yeah i agree, harry has an i-pod..... that just killed me. but i dissagree, no weapons really brings back the "Survival Horror" that homecoming got so much crap for not having. the graphics are moderate, not bad not perfect. i LIKED origins, i didn't love it. i hate harry's glasses too. you're right, cybil was supposed to be a woman of the law. i loved lisa from the origina silent hill, i hope they didn't kill her. i will buy the game out of curiousity.

Regarding the "Cybil with provocative clothing" thing, it's been said that certain events will play out differently depending on choices you make and on what answers you give the psychologist at the beginning of the game. That includes characters, how they dress and how they treat you.

I do think Cybil dressing that way is ridiculous, but not every player will see it (or at least not their first time through). I think the whole "game is different each time" thing needs to be emphasized more.

I have to disagree about lack of weapons being bad, or about telling a new story.

"Reboots" and "reimaginings" happen all the time in movies and books. The story is reset all the time, because long-term narrative isn't that important to most people. It's about the individual experience of each one product.

Lack of ability to fight, I think, is a good idea. Imagine running and hiding from the monsters, and having to block off entrances and such. It could be intense.

if you want to know what climax meant by reimagining, take the Tim burtan and dark knight films for example.

the dark knight is not a remake of the original batman, even though it has the same characters, setting, and overall feel. they are different. that is because the dark knight is a reimagining of the batman series of movies.

they use other examples as well as give a lot of info that shows how its different in an interview ign has with them.

they said in an interview that the characters clothes changes dependin on your personality profile so maybe the sexy cop is just because your personality profile just dont worry about that(just the perverts will see the sexy cop lol). i cant say the game will be actually good but i think the changes are to confuse the ones that have played sh 1 and mess with the mind of the player. Actually, that's a really good theory. I was babbling on to my partner the other day about how it'll change the entire series if the game turns out bad, and he said that maybe it was a dream... It's been said that the game isn't officially supposed to be canon, so thank God for that -- at least they have the decency not to say "this'll be a remake, and it's supposed to be the real thing!" I only dread to think what would become of Climax if they messed it up. :P
