This is because exp is split. Defeat a malboro overking in Garamsythe Waterway with a party of 3 and you'll get 1029 exp at the most. When defeated solo (only one character in battle), it's worth a rather high 3087 exp.
thanx too much and u make me lauogh when u take a potion u say ...eww i dont need a potion and when u say criiiticaaal nice man thanx for evry thing good job and luck !!
If you enjoy advancing the game, you might consider using the 70-hour method to get level 99 essentially at the beginning. From there, you can otherwise just rush the story.
Mine's on about 500 hours, but I tended to leave the game running overnight where there wasn't a save crystal (dedication lol). I'm still only level 70 so that shows how often I left it on... -sigh-
Did you know that you can have 4 characters at level 99 with only 40 hours of play and still essentially be at the beginning of the game where access to Mosphoran Highwaste is not available? All 6 characters at level 99 before Nalbina Dungeons is doable in 70 hours. You might be thinking that dustia is involved - it's not though that could shave off an extra 5 to 10 hours on this already fast time.
This is a rather old video. I've reached level 99 with almost no story progress in under 50 hours and I have a video that not only proves this, but explains how you can do it yourself. Even within 40 hours may be possible.
Henne mines is better place. I get about 9000 exp solo from 1 abysteel bat and with emporidered tippet its 18k and i kill about 3-4 in a minute so its 54K-72K. Take that!
Stage 8 of my "level 99 fast & early" video demonstrates a method that's actually almost as fast as that, and it's much, much earlier in the story. Level 99 before Basch officially joins the party as a member in under 50 hours is completely doable (even 40 hours is doable) and it comes with a nice bonus - 4 characters are on level 99 (Vaan, Basch, Ashe, and Penelo).
That's not the Yoichi's bow, it's the burning bow. See stage 5-1 of my "how to get level 99 fast & early" video for details on how to get the burning bow... at level 17. Dive talon, at that low of a level with weak armor, is asking for a game over.
I mistook this video for my "how to get level 99 fast & early" series which, in stage 8, covers this same area and you don't have the Yoichi bow. I often get it from Mosphoran Highwaste and the areas around it - you get it, if I recall, from the Bazaar. I believe I was supposed to be going to Jahara or something at this point, but I don't recall. You can get into the Nabreus Deadlands and Necrohol of Nabudis areas this early (caution: dangerous).
I don't exactly recall. I believe, at this point, I could get into Mosphoran Highwaste, Salikawood, Nabreus Deadlands, and Necrohol of Nabudis, and from loot by the enemies in these areas, that's how I got it. I don't recall where in the story I was in this very old video.
If you don't want him, attack him directly instead of letting enemies defeat him. I've got a video that shows where I get level 99 in under 50 hours game play (4 characters too), but I have yet to process and upload it....
Except for espers and quickenings, everyone can obtain every license. In my current playthrough (going on right now), I'm supposed to be visiting Old Dalan for the first time and, being level 79, the whole license board is cleared and I have 400 extra license points. For easy LP, just go into the Estersand area and just whack some wolves, cockatrices, and cactoids. While not good for gaining levels on, for LP, they're the best way to go. A ranged weapon (bow or gun) helps speed it up.
If you don't like my voice being present, simply adjust your speaker's balance. The voice is on the left speaker so set the balance so that it's all the way toward the right (which mutes the left speaker). If you don't want to hear the game's original audio, have the balance toward the right instead. It's an added convenience.
Play Grand Theft Auto - that's violent. Play Sonic 2. That's not violent. Play most any Final Fantasy game and there's minor violence. Slice a sword through an enemy, white light appears, then a number pops out - big deal. Scorch it by casting firaga on it and a number pops out. What so special?
Sonic isn't anywhere near as violent as GTA. It's machines being busted. Jump in spikes and what happens? If you have a shield, the shield is lost. Without a shield, the rings go flying all over the place. Without a shield or rings, Sonic dies by just falling over. What's wrong with that?
Hey Ulillillia, do you remember what level your characters were when you defeated and obtained Cúchulainn the Impure?
I've been going after him with lv 58,59,60 characters with better versions of spells than you probably had available at the time (as I'm much, much further in the story than in this video), and yet I'm near the point of breaking my controller in frustration.
Cura and faith were my primary spells. The battle went on for an hour. I was probably around your level. I just had 2 characters casting cura and faith, if I recall, with one, likely Vaan, attacking. I used the same strategy for those two bosses with 8 and 50 million HP - 2 support characters keeping status effects in check with one (Vaan) attacking.
Let's say an enemy is worth 3000 EXP. If you have a part of 3, each character will get 1000 EXP. For 2, it becomes 1500. Defeat it solo and it becomes 3000. All inactive characters get 0. When a new character is added to the party, the level they start on is the average of the party. Ashe, upon first getting her, started on level 86! If you defeat this enemy with just Vaan alone at the game's start, because of this averaging, everyone gets 3000 EXP, in a sense!
This applies to many Final Fantasy games. I don't know about FF1, FF3, or FF10, however. I don't recall if this is the case with FF7 or FF8. FF2 doesn't use levels so it doesn't count. FF4, FF5, FF6, FF9, and FF12 all do. I have a video for the fastest leveling in FF6, but I'm soloing.
... and if you solo all the way to level 99 before first getting Penelo (it's possible within 200 to 300 hours), everyone will be on level 99 with, get this, 99,999,999 EXP. I've had this with guests during the story after this point. Each 1000 EXP you gain here becomes 6000 overall because of the way the game is designed. I first got Penelo on 35, then got Balthier's group in the mid or upper 50's....
Most people I know. Something stupid about the characters not having a personality. I personally believe it's just grudge against Vaan being shirtless.
I think it's, instead, because of the lack of variety. There are lots of enemies, but they all have the exact same behaviors and looks (aside from color). Their attacks are practically the same too. There's so little variety, unlike any other FF game. Even the NES original has plenty of variety... on perhaps 300 KB!
I see. But i know you didn't play FFX, which had a lot less enemies than the avarage, even 12. In the old ones, including a new enemy was only a matter of putting in an image for that enemy (in the 2d games) and writing the stats. In FFXII, with enemies needing to be animated this would bite for the developers. I believe, in any case, that you're mistaken, because most people I speak to bash this game for its storyline and characters, not by gameplay.
The criticism on gameplay that I've heard is the omnipresent randomness of this game, the tiring superboss (Yiazmat, which can take hours to beat), and the Licence Board, although I believe that no one that suffered through the Sphere grid of FFX would complain about with good consciousness. And many complain about the Gambit System, which has flaws but is also completely optional, albeit tiring to do without.
I dunno, I found power levelling to be redundant in this game. I was at level 99 for my chosen trio by the time I was at Yiazmat just by fighting enemies on the way to hunts, collecting items for tournesol, etc : /
and since this is fighting solo, you have to times the amount of time spent here by 3 if you wanna level the whole active party... pretty boring if you ask me. Just get the Zodiac Spear as early as possible, that's all you need to breeze through bosses.
Actually, whether you use one character at a time or 3 together, the rate at which you gain EXP is just as fast. I was level 35 or so when I first got Penelo, upper 50's when I began getting the main party together (Balthier, Fran, etc.).
you've lost me now. How can the rate be equally fast with 3 people together if the exp is divided between them? I do agree it'd be potentially helpful to level vaan before you get the main party together seeing as newcomers seem to match your current level. However, the amount of good levelling spots at the start are very limited, making this an arduous task. Your gargantuan amount of license points and play time suggest this method is far from speedy.
Try it. Defeat these enemies with a party of 3 and see how much EXP they give. Instead of 2025 EXP to one character, you'll get 675 EXP to each character. Let's say you're trying to get 3 characters from level 60 to 99. If you solo, you'll get one character from level 60 to 99 fairly quickly. Then, go do the same for the second then third character. Now, do the same for all 3 together. It'll take just as long. This was my first play so I didn't know of the fast ways to level up.
that's exactly what I mean =__= it'll seem fast levelling solo, but that time will be tripled as you level up the other 2 characters, and end up no faster than slowly levelling all 3 at once as per normal.
I just don't see why waste so much time levelling at this point when you can just get OP weapons (I used zodiac spear and deathbringers), then level up quickly at a high level area later on if you choose to. But I guess everyone finds their own ways of playing the game.
But, consider one thing. With Vaan alone, and considering the fact that new characters will start on the level you are, the rate becomes 6 times as fast. Thus, by defeating those Great Malboro enemies in the waterway, you are, in a sense, getting about 19,000 EXP. At 3200 or so a piece, you get everyone to 99 much faster. I prefer to get the burning bow then go after those werewolves, chaining them. I've heard that dustia (unfamiliar territory) is a far faster way to level early on....
what/where on earth is dustia? I've never heard of such a place in 12, and I usually have insane memory when it comes to games. Indeed, getting vaan into the waterway early would yield great rewards but, don't you need to have met the party before you have access to said waterway? As for werewolves, the exp value drops drastically once you reach a certain level. Then there's time spent LP farming to obtain abilities to defeat enemies at low levels...
Dustia is an enemy, of which I've never seen or knew about until long after these videos were uploaded. I'm not sure about the waterway access case, however, I haven't tried it. I also haven't tried reaching the Westersand area before defeating the Rogue Tomato either. The werewolves are always 1200 EXP a piece. You need 13.7 million EXP for level 99, if I recall. You mainly only need the stat-boosting licenses. I'd love to make a video of my process....
Dustia is a rare game that spawns in the Corridor of Sand Area in Westersand when your current hp falls to one tenth of the maximum. It is an undead foe which can be easily defeated by throwing a Phoenix Down. Then, should you leave the area before the gained exp apears on screen, it will respawn as soon as you re-enter the area, provided your hp is still under the status above. It gives 1000 exp and 3 LP, I believe. It also drops a Book of Orgain loot worth 532 a piece and Flame Staffs.
Werewolves (in Giza Plains) are 1200 a piece. The enemies here are typically 2000 a piece. If you only have one available character, then soloing is the best method of all. Get level 99 before getting Penelo and she and everyone will be level 99... with 99,999,999 EXP. I've had that with all guests after this point. Since FF12, I've soloed a lot more in the FF series than I ever have before.
i made it to lvl 10 in the beggining before tomato, cuz i no they be a higher lvl than me, and when everyone elft and i was alone, i lvled to 20, its ALOT easier if u ask me to solo lvl, but u brought it up to a whole new lvl literally. i would play FF12 more BUT i wish they would let u keep your lvl and stuff when i finish game. lik FFX-2 but its still the best game for me even out of all the series.
my sister does that, but when u think about it, it shud be the exact same time spent tryin to lvl all characters. its jsut that having one character seems quicker.
3 characters is actually faster, but by an amount of time so slight that you won't really notice it. With 3 characters, you'll get 1/3 the EXP to each, but you'll go through enemies quicker. Traveling the distance to encounter more enemies is unchanged. It's easier to manage one character.
Just a quick comment- another really good place to level up is in the West Annex of the Barheim Passage, start on the east side and go west to the save point, then to the room where you fought Zalera, and then go back. It re spawns all of the enemies, I leveled my characters up there from levels 60-74 quickly, also, chaining the marlboros in the Tchita Uplands.
... and if you don't have access to those areas at the point I was during the story, then what? Storywise, when I recorded this, I was supposed to go to that town in Ozmone Plain....
considering its taken u 250+ hours and ur still not at level 99 for all ur characters it seems kinda silly to say this is fast, also, as far as im aware, the game does not divide exp points between party members ie. if an enemy's worth 10 points, each player gets 10 points so why go solo??
I also cant understand why you would want to get your characters up to level 99 at that stage in the game because you really are making everything so stupidly easy the game will lose all of its fun
Actually, EXP is split. Defeat those werewolves in Giza Plains while soloing. Note that these enemies are worth about 2000 EXP a piece solo. If you had a party of 3, they'll only be 650 to 700 instead. By soloing early on before getting anyone, this same 2000 EXP, due to the way the game is designed, will become 12,000 total - 2000 to each character. This was my first play through so I didn't know much about it at the time. I find it a lot of fun taking a boss out in 2 hits (or 1)....
just noticed that you have only killed a few hunts and rare monsters. Im level 31 and am just about to find the cheif in Jahara. just managed to kill the gil snapper at level 27 but in the Piggyback guidebook that i have it says not to kill him until just after you defeat Shemhazai in the great crystal.wierd.LOL
oh and instead of levelling solo i find it much easier to have two parties:1.vaan, balthier and fran.2.Basch,ashe and penelo. much easier than solo.
Easier, yes, but slower. If you solo to level 99 before you get anyone in the party, everyone will start on level 99 with 99,999,999 EXP and you won't have to level them. This makes the 1200 the werewolves give seem like 7200 because of it.
That depends on where you are in the story. For me, level 33 would be the about the point where I start using the werewolves in Giza Plains to level (where I wouldn't have Penelo yet). I otherwise wouldn't know.
For this, solo in the Sandsea area (for me, at this level, I didn't have access there, so I went with the westersand area), ignore the big ball elementals, even the small ones, if you run into them.
i have started again, i now have a lvl 17 Vaan, i havent got to penelo yet, so i dnt have access to many areas! i have just been training on Usterix's in the westersand! wat level should i train till and wat should i train on after i reach that lvl?
thnx for all ur help!
P.S i want to be lvl 99 before i reach penelo, if it is possible! (will save alot of training later in the game!)
Yes, you can get level 99 before Penelo is first added. It's tough, but it can be done. Train on the Urstrixes to about level 30. Find and obtain the bow (in Giza Plains - it'll take a few tries), and head to the area outside the city for the arrows. Avoid the cave and dive talon entirely. Once done, get those werewolves in Giza Plains (you can chain them - go through the area where the save crystal is. To reset enemies, get 2 zones away. To reset treasures, get 3 zones away.
i tried to get the burning bow from the dive talons, but i got bored, they are hard when you are lvl 23! alot of running involved! But i was really lucky cause i killed a werewolf (with mist) and it dropped a kotetsu! i can kill most things now in 2 hits!
The Westersand area is best for this until you're at level 30. Focus on the werewolves in Giza Plains at this point. I haven't tried using quickenings at all in this game, but they might be useful... until you get their kotetsu. Continue with the werewolves until level 60. If access is possible and you want a challenge, go into the area of Garamsythe waterway where the malboros and frogs are. These things are 3000 EXP a piece, but do 800 damage and can practically disable characters.
werewolves are still hard to defeat! their rage attack does 660+ damage! im at lvl 30 now, i have been playin the game for 12 hours! its really boring! i might just continue with the story?!
What I did was focus on getting those licenses to raise max HP, along with the "battle lore", and "swiftness" ones. If you have to, use a quickening. A better alternative is to get the bow found in Giza Plains and the arrows near Westersand's Rabanastre entrance. Strike the werewolves then get back so they run back and repeat. This will take longer, but it's much easier and opens access to them at a lower level.
uhh...they can find out just like they found out how to lvl up from this video...there are lots of vids for dustia u know....i didnt mean to offend u..sorry ;)
What I was explaining was the original way I found to reach level 99 as early as possible. Even to this day, I haven't seen dustia, even though I've completed the game.
ohhhh...well i think every ff master should know tht, but just to let u know.... u need to have ur hp at 10% or less and u need to zone out of this place in the westersand, but since u dont have the game right now, im not gonna bother telling u the exact place in the westersand where u need to zone out--ill just tell u that its the first one when u enter estersand from rabanastre (if u go straight, u should see that zone)
lmao...i was actually trying to compliment thew guy by saying that he is a master cuz of all the ff vids i saw of his...HES A FRIGGGIN BEAST!!! and the dustia method was something that a lot of pple knew so thats y i said that...sorry if it offended u
I simply set up a gambit system that automated EVERYTHING and just left it. 200 hours of wash, rinse, repeat gameplay isnt my idea of fun.
You should buy Disgaea on the PS2/3, youd love it. You can level every item or weapon in the game, charachters max out at level 9999. WAY over 200 hours of stuff to do.
interesting...i have leveled with solo characters in other games to get exp faster but i never thought to in this game. i really have not fought enemies for the sake of leveling but for the sake of going through hunts and progressing with the story. i'm a little more intolerant while leveling in this game as i am with turned based rpgs, i'm just more used to them but i really like the battle system in this one, it's very distinctive and unique to compensate for the lack of turned based, its fun.
Level 99 in this game only halfway through the story seems odd, but hey, I could almost do that in 200 hours with essentially no story progress at all (without the Rogue Tomato defeated). I was level 35 when I first got Penelo if that gives any hints. I was in the upper 50's or lower 60's when I first started gathering the main characters (starting with things like Balthier). I didn't get to try out the gambit system until I was already level 58 or something. I want a video of this too!
if you havent reached garif village yet then that is only 1/4th of the way through, not half. i am only level 60 and on the way to archades (havent finished this game yet...) and that took a long time to attain but i never leveled with a solo character before and my secondary group of 3 characters are only level 38 so it is going to take a lengthy amount of time to get level 99 and the gambit system i dont use much, i found it easier to just do things manually half the time...
With one character, EXP gained is tripled (watch my soloing video for FF6 to see an extreme case of leveling - one battle, one level - it's that fast!). Solo all the way to 99 before getting anyone and every character, including guests, will always have 99,999,999 EXP and be on level 99 so you won't have to level them. Thus, one werewolf, worth 1205 or so, is, in a sense the same as defeating an enemy worth 7230 EXP. The gambit system is only worthy for the nonleader party members.
i think i saw something just like that with FF6, it was like 22 levels in one battle against the Tyrannosaur monster and i saw a couple other games that gained an abnormally high amount of levels in one battle. i myself just dont have that sort of skill, i mostly level by grinding...and yeah all the exp gained is accumilated to one character instead of 3 characters getting a small chunk of it. i controll Ashe as my leader and i mostly just heal accordingly if the others dont.
I've defeated everything about this game but somehow can not find that monster in the Crystal. You know the big one. The maps I find are vage and obtuse, oh well.
That crystal is the most frustrating part because of the lack of maps. I had to make my own map.... If you want something odd, try reaching level 99 before you first get Penelo. It can be done, really! I was level 35 when I first did, but if I focused more on defeating the werewolves, I could take this all the way to 99!
My primary way, before I start getting the others, is defeating the werewolves in Giza Plains after reaching a certain level (30). I'd like to play this game again so I can get videos of this procedure.
The method I use, actually, is to simply equip a Nihopalaoa (Maybe) and I head off to... That area just north/west of the port city. Name escapes me ATM. Phoenix Downs one-hit-kill the 50,000 HP dragons. The problem lies in the fact that you can't equip an Embroidered Tippet while doing this.
The other place I go is generally around the Ridorana Cataract or just south of Archades. Just wander around Attacking things.
Uh, if you haven't noticed, at the time I recorded this, I wasn't even close to that far into the story yet. When I show the map, note "Jahara" for the "to do" task. I was taking on Gnoma Entite as soon as I got the cura spell and first got Penelo at level 35 (then got the others in the 60's (see my "first leveling area" video for FF12 for proof)). I want to play FF12 again so I can get level 99 before defeating the Rogue Tomato - possible in 200 hours.
I haven't messed with watching your other videos. I just don't see a reason why you couldn't really travel that far into the game. Now I remember-- It's the Cerobi Steppe where I usually train. Enemies die fairly effortlessly, and don't give too bad exp. Still, I don't grind so much in that game. I'm not really a huge fan of killing bosses as absolutely fast as possible.
With 4 characters present, you'll see that I have very few spells, and extreme levels, one character in the 90's. It's my "first fast leveling grounds" video, if I recall.
It's nice that you're so interested in doing that, but I like relying upon New Game +-like features to get me there. Actually, FFXII International Zodiac Job System has a mode after you beat it called Strong Mode, which starts everybody off at level 90.
But I'm not the kind do to this anyway. I was just wondering if I could contribute anyway. Nihopalaoa is rather handy for the strong stuff is all I was saying.
I actually have 5 leveling (4 mainly used) grounds in this game that I would use to reach level 99 with: Estersand to 6, Giza to 15, Westersand to 30, Giza werewolves to 60, then waterway to 99. It could be done in 200 hours, probably even less. The reward? Do it before defeating the rogue tomato and every single guest and party member will be at level 99 when you get them with 99,999,999 EXP.
I don't recall how difficult the espers were. I never used them at all throughout my game, though I did fight them for the extra challenge. I got my first esper at level 50 or so....
i dont think any of us really care what level your characters are or how youve killed, your clan points or you license point. or the fact that you use active mode.
all these things are irrelevant to your video. please dont make any more videos if you think any of us care that you use active mode LOL
Didn't you look at the levels of the others? Why would I bring those others in, at 99, when there's just one below it? In addition, there's a bug where if I go too fast through the area, the snakes don't appear and without them, it slows things down.
Why do you only use one person in your party? If you use two more people in your party then the exp. would be split between the three of them and you would level up three characters at once.
2000 EXP gained with one means just 667 gained with three. There's also annoying an bug with ranged weapons when the other characters have it. If you reach level 99 before you get any other characters, all new characters and guests will be at level 99 (and of all things, with 99,999,999 EXP).
Exactly. 667 x 3 = 2001. That is one extra experience point that you are getting. It might take longer to level up each character, but all three will level up faster together than if you have to switch characters inbetween.
Actually that's not true. The fractional part is rounded down. 500 EXP for a single enemy wouldn't be 167 EXP, rather, 166. You'd get 498 so it slightly slows you down. It still hardly improves the rate at which enemies are defeated though and that's key. If you do this before you first get Penelo, that 500 EXP you get solo becomes that much toward everyone, making it 6 times faster.
I agree that it makes that leveling up fun (I've done stuff like this a few times) but isn't the rest of the game, the story mode, boring once you are that powerful?
Not really. Sure you can defeat bosses in 4 hits (and less), but you can very easily focus on getting to where you need to go and zip through the story at mach speed. Instead of having to deal with tough enemies, they're wimps and aren't one bit of a problem. With FF7, I get level 99 during disk 1, but after this, I focus so much toward the story that it's almost like doing it in record time! The only slow down is taking a wrong route and solving pesky puzzles.
The way that you play this game does not seem very fun to me. This is how I do it:
I prefer to not level up too much at one time. That way as i go through the story, the individual battles and bosses are more of a challenge. I also prefer to keep most gambits off and don't use any gambits for the character i control.
Your way is boring. Once you level up, there's no challenge for the rest of the game, and with gambits on, you don't actually do anything. You just run around and watch.
I do this with all RPG games. In FF7, I reach level 99 before finishing disk 1. In FF2, I can max the three main characters' HP and a few stats, within 50 hours, upon first getting Mindu. I also can get to Mysidia well, well before you're supposed to. It makes the game a lot of fun.
This is because exp is split. Defeat a malboro overking in Garamsythe Waterway with a party of 3 and you'll get 1029 exp at the most. When defeated solo (only one character in battle), it's worth a rather high 3087 exp.

How do u get the yochi bow that early in the game.
VvJSlayerVv 1 year ago
That's not the Yoichi's bow, it's the burning bow. See stage 5-1 of my "how to get level 99 fast & early" video for details on how to get the burning bow... at level 17. Dive talon, at that low of a level with weak armor, is asking for a game over.
ulillillia 1 year ago
@ulillillia Fran has the yochi bow.
VvJSlayerVv 1 year ago
I mistook this video for my "how to get level 99 fast & early" series which, in stage 8, covers this same area and you don't have the Yoichi bow. I often get it from Mosphoran Highwaste and the areas around it - you get it, if I recall, from the Bazaar. I believe I was supposed to be going to Jahara or something at this point, but I don't recall. You can get into the Nabreus Deadlands and Necrohol of Nabudis areas this early (caution: dangerous).
ulillillia 1 year ago
@ulillillia um did u get it from beating the white mouse.
VvJSlayerVv 1 year ago
I don't exactly recall. I believe, at this point, I could get into Mosphoran Highwaste, Salikawood, Nabreus Deadlands, and Necrohol of Nabudis, and from loot by the enemies in these areas, that's how I got it. I don't recall where in the story I was in this very old video.

MrAjkiller125 2 years ago
If you don't like my voice being present, simply adjust your speaker's balance. The voice is on the left speaker so set the balance so that it's all the way toward the right (which mutes the left speaker). If you don't want to hear the game's original audio, have the balance toward the right instead. It's an added convenience.

bornoffire8 2 years ago
Play Grand Theft Auto - that's violent. Play Sonic 2. That's not violent. Play most any Final Fantasy game and there's minor violence. Slice a sword through an enemy, white light appears, then a number pops out - big deal. Scorch it by casting firaga on it and a number pops out. What so special?
ulillillia 2 years ago
sonic is incredibly violent
milkygear 2 years ago
Sonic isn't anywhere near as violent as GTA. It's machines being busted. Jump in spikes and what happens? If you have a shield, the shield is lost. Without a shield, the rings go flying all over the place. Without a shield or rings, Sonic dies by just falling over. What's wrong with that?
ulillillia 2 years ago
sonic still dies, he just dies in a different fashion. ergo violence. spikes, fighting, etc.
milkygear 2 years ago
you didn't exactly specificity when you said "violent games" Most christian organizations would think even Final Fantasy was too violent.
i was just curious on your reasons and views that's all really.
So i guess that would put the mortal kombat franchise out of the question for you huh?
bornoffire8 2 years ago
Any fighting games are too much. Practically any shooter is too much (Metroid is fine, one of the very few exceptions). Doom is too much.
ulillillia 2 years ago
Hey Ulillillia, do you remember what level your characters were when you defeated and obtained Cúchulainn the Impure?
I've been going after him with lv 58,59,60 characters with better versions of spells than you probably had available at the time (as I'm much, much further in the story than in this video), and yet I'm near the point of breaking my controller in frustration.
valcaron 2 years ago
Cura and faith were my primary spells. The battle went on for an hour. I was probably around your level. I just had 2 characters casting cura and faith, if I recall, with one, likely Vaan, attacking. I used the same strategy for those two bosses with 8 and 50 million HP - 2 support characters keeping status effects in check with one (Vaan) attacking.

So, is the exp split between members when you're in a party?
Do you get more exp for one character when you fight alone?
Kytes981 2 years ago
Let's say an enemy is worth 3000 EXP. If you have a part of 3, each character will get 1000 EXP. For 2, it becomes 1500. Defeat it solo and it becomes 3000. All inactive characters get 0. When a new character is added to the party, the level they start on is the average of the party. Ashe, upon first getting her, started on level 86! If you defeat this enemy with just Vaan alone at the game's start, because of this averaging, everyone gets 3000 EXP, in a sense!
ulillillia 2 years ago
wow, thank you! That was a LOT of help! I probaby could have figured it out on my own eventually, but it is nice to hear it from someone else ^^
thanks for replying!
Kytes981 2 years ago
This applies to many Final Fantasy games. I don't know about FF1, FF3, or FF10, however. I don't recall if this is the case with FF7 or FF8. FF2 doesn't use levels so it doesn't count. FF4, FF5, FF6, FF9, and FF12 all do. I have a video for the fastest leveling in FF6, but I'm soloing.
ulillillia 2 years ago
nice method. I always liked solo leveling myself, seems faster that way. and very funny when you say 'critical!' XD
bunniekittie 2 years ago 4
... and if you solo all the way to level 99 before first getting Penelo (it's possible within 200 to 300 hours), everyone will be on level 99 with, get this, 99,999,999 EXP. I've had this with guests during the story after this point. Each 1000 EXP you gain here becomes 6000 overall because of the way the game is designed. I first got Penelo on 35, then got Balthier's group in the mid or upper 50's....

OnyonKnight 2 years ago
Who's most people? The reviews are plenty good- and I love it.
ageguyera21 2 years ago
Most people I know. Something stupid about the characters not having a personality. I personally believe it's just grudge against Vaan being shirtless.
OnyonKnight 2 years ago
I think it's, instead, because of the lack of variety. There are lots of enemies, but they all have the exact same behaviors and looks (aside from color). Their attacks are practically the same too. There's so little variety, unlike any other FF game. Even the NES original has plenty of variety... on perhaps 300 KB!
ulillillia 2 years ago
OnyonKnight 2 years ago
The criticism on gameplay that I've heard is the omnipresent randomness of this game, the tiring superboss (Yiazmat, which can take hours to beat), and the Licence Board, although I believe that no one that suffered through the Sphere grid of FFX would complain about with good consciousness. And many complain about the Gambit System, which has flaws but is also completely optional, albeit tiring to do without.
OnyonKnight 2 years ago
and his weird painted on abs, but i still lik all of the characters.
ffinfinity1 2 years ago
I think a better way to lvl in this point is using 2 characters:
1 to atk
other to bersek the ataker and supot
the ataker will atk faster and stronger.
what do you think of this?
Vicilu 2 years ago
Against enemies you can one-hit, it's not worth it, unless you're up against a lot of them at once or in a very short notice.
ulillillia 2 years ago
I dunno, I found power levelling to be redundant in this game. I was at level 99 for my chosen trio by the time I was at Yiazmat just by fighting enemies on the way to hunts, collecting items for tournesol, etc : /
and since this is fighting solo, you have to times the amount of time spent here by 3 if you wanna level the whole active party... pretty boring if you ask me. Just get the Zodiac Spear as early as possible, that's all you need to breeze through bosses.
XZoneCiderpowered 2 years ago
Actually, whether you use one character at a time or 3 together, the rate at which you gain EXP is just as fast. I was level 35 or so when I first got Penelo, upper 50's when I began getting the main party together (Balthier, Fran, etc.).
ulillillia 2 years ago
you've lost me now.
XZoneCiderpowered 2 years ago
This was my first play so I didn't know of the fast ways to level up.
ulillillia 2 years ago
that's exactly what I mean =__= it'll seem fast levelling solo, but that time will be tripled as you level up the other 2 characters, and end up no faster than slowly levelling all 3 at once as per normal.
I just don't see why waste so much time levelling at this point when you can just get OP weapons (I used zodiac spear and deathbringers), then level up quickly at a high level area later on if you choose to. But I guess everyone finds their own ways of playing the game.
XZoneCiderpowered 2 years ago
But, consider one thing. With Vaan alone, and considering the fact that new characters will start on the level you are, the rate becomes 6 times as fast. Thus, by defeating those Great Malboro enemies in the waterway, you are, in a sense, getting about 19,000 EXP. At 3200 or so a piece, you get everyone to 99 much faster. I prefer to get the burning bow then go after those werewolves, chaining them. I've heard that dustia (unfamiliar territory) is a far faster way to level early on....
ulillillia 2 years ago
what/where on earth is dustia? I've never heard of such a place in 12, and I usually have insane memory when it comes to games. Indeed, getting vaan into the waterway early would yield great rewards but, don't you need to have met the party before you have access to said waterway? As for werewolves, the exp value drops drastically once you reach a certain level. Then there's time spent LP farming to obtain abilities to defeat enemies at low levels...
lmao, I'm such a nerd
XZoneCiderpowered 2 years ago
Dustia is an enemy, of which I've never seen or knew about until long after these videos were uploaded. I'm not sure about the waterway access case, however, I haven't tried it. I also haven't tried reaching the Westersand area before defeating the Rogue Tomato either. The werewolves are always 1200 EXP a piece. You need 13.7 million EXP for level 99, if I recall. You mainly only need the stat-boosting licenses. I'd love to make a video of my process....
ulillillia 2 years ago
Dustia is a rare game that spawns in the Corridor of Sand Area in Westersand when your current hp falls to one tenth of the maximum. It is an undead foe which can be easily defeated by throwing a Phoenix Down. Then, should you leave the area before the gained exp apears on screen, it will respawn as soon as you re-enter the area, provided your hp is still under the status above. It gives 1000 exp and 3 LP, I believe. It also drops a Book of Orgain loot worth 532 a piece and Flame Staffs.
OnyonKnight 2 years ago
Just 1000? I guess the werewolves are faster, especially once I get the kotetsu they drop....
ulillillia 2 years ago
It is easier than the Werewolf (well, not actually but using PD it is) and you can start it at any level.
I say level 30 is easy.
OnyonKnight 2 years ago
wait wait...1200 a piece, i never knew about DIS.
ffinfinity1 2 years ago
Werewolves (in Giza Plains) are 1200 a piece. The enemies here are typically 2000 a piece. If you only have one available character, then soloing is the best method of all. Get level 99 before getting Penelo and she and everyone will be level 99... with 99,999,999 EXP. I've had that with all guests after this point. Since FF12, I've soloed a lot more in the FF series than I ever have before.
ulillillia 2 years ago
i made it to lvl 10 in the beggining before tomato, cuz i no they be a higher lvl than me, and when everyone elft and i was alone, i lvled to 20, its ALOT easier if u ask me to solo lvl, but u brought it up to a whole new lvl literally. i would play FF12 more BUT i wish they would let u keep your lvl and stuff when i finish game. lik FFX-2 but its still the best game for me even out of all the series.
ffinfinity1 2 years ago
my sister does that, but when u think about it, it shud be the exact same time spent tryin to lvl all characters. its jsut that having one character seems quicker.
ffinfinity1 2 years ago
3 characters is actually faster, but by an amount of time so slight that you won't really notice it. With 3 characters, you'll get 1/3 the EXP to each, but you'll go through enemies quicker. Traveling the distance to encounter more enemies is unchanged. It's easier to manage one character.
ulillillia 2 years ago
What is the "CRITICAL" and "MAP" from? I keep hearing it xD
XXXMASTERISEXXX 2 years ago
The "critical" comes from whenever I get a critical hit on an enemy. "Map", in this video, is only used/referred to once.
ulillillia 2 years ago
wait wait sorry. Did you record your voice saying "CRITICAL" and "MAP" with audicity and stick it in the video, or was it something else?
XXXMASTERISEXXX 2 years ago
Yes. At the time, I used the segmenting method rather than the current method - live while playing.
ulillillia 2 years ago
Just a quick comment- another really good place to level up is in the West Annex of the Barheim Passage, start on the east side and go west to the save point, then to the room where you fought Zalera, and then go back. It re spawns all of the enemies, I leveled my characters up there from levels 60-74 quickly, also, chaining the marlboros in the Tchita Uplands.
redgalaxy24 2 years ago
... and if you don't have access to those areas at the point I was during the story, then what? Storywise, when I recorded this, I was supposed to go to that town in Ozmone Plain....
ulillillia 2 years ago
considering its taken u 250+ hours and ur still not at level 99 for all ur characters it seems kinda silly to say this is fast, also, as far as im aware, the game does not divide exp points between party members ie. if an enemy's worth 10 points, each player gets 10 points so why go solo??
I also cant understand why you would want to get your characters up to level 99 at that stage in the game because you really are making everything so stupidly easy the game will lose all of its fun
bananaman15dead 2 years ago
Actually, EXP is split. Defeat those werewolves in Giza Plains while soloing. Note that these enemies are worth about 2000 EXP a piece solo. If you had a party of 3, they'll only be 650 to 700 instead. By soloing early on before getting anyone, this same 2000 EXP, due to the way the game is designed, will become 12,000 total - 2000 to each character. This was my first play through so I didn't know much about it at the time. I find it a lot of fun taking a boss out in 2 hits (or 1)....
ulillillia 2 years ago
just noticed that you have only killed a few hunts and rare monsters.
DEMONATA1995 2 years ago
Easier, yes, but slower. If you solo to level 99 before you get anyone in the party, everyone will start on level 99 with 99,999,999 EXP and you won't have to level them. This makes the 1200 the werewolves give seem like 7200 because of it.

That depends on where you are in the story. For me, level 33 would be the about the point where I start using the werewolves in Giza Plains to level (where I wouldn't have Penelo yet). I otherwise wouldn't know.

i am about to go to archades! and where is a good place for my lvl 17 fran? thnx
shinobi81094 2 years ago
For this, solo in the Sandsea area (for me, at this level, I didn't have access there, so I went with the westersand area), ignore the big ball elementals, even the small ones, if you run into them.
ulillillia 2 years ago
i have started again, i now have a lvl 17 Vaan, i havent got to penelo yet, so i dnt have access to many areas! i have just been training on Usterix's in the westersand! wat level should i train till and wat should i train on after i reach that lvl?
thnx for all ur help!
P.S i want to be lvl 99 before i reach penelo, if it is possible! (will save alot of training later in the game!)
shinobi81094 2 years ago
Yes, you can get level 99 before Penelo is first added. It's tough, but it can be done. Train on the Urstrixes to about level 30. Find and obtain the bow (in Giza Plains - it'll take a few tries), and head to the area outside the city for the arrows. Avoid the cave and dive talon entirely. Once done, get those werewolves in Giza Plains (you can chain them - go through the area where the save crystal is. To reset enemies, get 2 zones away. To reset treasures, get 3 zones away.
ulillillia 2 years ago
which bow? i only know the burning bow from dive talons!
shinobi81094 2 years ago
It's a regular one, found in Giza Plains. I don't know the name of it though, but if you have the burning bow, use it instead.
ulillillia 2 years ago
i tried to get the burning bow from the dive talons, but i got bored, they are hard when you are lvl 23! alot of running involved! But i was really lucky cause i killed a werewolf (with mist) and it dropped a kotetsu! i can kill most things now in 2 hits!
shinobi81094 2 years ago
I would go to mospheron highwate (north of estersand and kill worgans. it depends where in the story you are.
DEMONATA1995 2 years ago
i havent even got penelo in my party for the first time yet (in giza plains)
shinobi81094 2 years ago
The Westersand area is best for this until you're at level 30. Focus on the werewolves in Giza Plains at this point. I haven't tried using quickenings at all in this game, but they might be useful... until you get their kotetsu. Continue with the werewolves until level 60. If access is possible and you want a challenge, go into the area of Garamsythe waterway where the malboros and frogs are. These things are 3000 EXP a piece, but do 800 damage and can practically disable characters.
ulillillia 2 years ago
werewolves are still hard to defeat! their rage attack does 660+ damage! im at lvl 30 now, i have been playin the game for 12 hours! its really boring! i might just continue with the story?!
shinobi81094 2 years ago
What I did was focus on getting those licenses to raise max HP, along with the "battle lore", and "swiftness" ones. If you have to, use a quickening. A better alternative is to get the bow found in Giza Plains and the arrows near Westersand's Rabanastre entrance. Strike the werewolves then get back so they run back and repeat. This will take longer, but it's much easier and opens access to them at a lower level.
ulillillia 2 years ago

I simply set up a gambit system that automated EVERYTHING and just left it. 200 hours of wash, rinse, repeat gameplay isnt my idea of fun.
You should buy Disgaea on the PS2/3, youd love it. You can level every item or weapon in the game, charachters max out at level 9999. WAY over 200 hours of stuff to do.
Protagonist 2 years ago
interesting...i have leveled with solo characters in other games to get exp faster but i never thought to in this game. i really have not fought enemies for the sake of leveling but for the sake of going through hunts and progressing with the story. i'm a little more intolerant while leveling in this game as i am with turned based rpgs, i'm just more used to them but i really like the battle system in this one, it's very distinctive and unique to compensate for the lack of turned based, its fun.
Noah837 2 years ago
Level 99 in this game only halfway through the story seems odd, but hey, I could almost do that in 200 hours with essentially no story progress at all (without the Rogue Tomato defeated). I was level 35 when I first got Penelo if that gives any hints. I was in the upper 50's or lower 60's when I first started gathering the main characters (starting with things like Balthier). I didn't get to try out the gambit system until I was already level 58 or something. I want a video of this too!
ulillillia 2 years ago
if you havent reached garif village yet then that is only 1/4th of the way through, not half. i am only level 60 and on the way to archades (havent finished this game yet...) and that took a long time to attain but i never leveled with a solo character before and my secondary group of 3 characters are only level 38 so it is going to take a lengthy amount of time to get level 99 and the gambit system i dont use much, i found it easier to just do things manually half the time...
Noah837 2 years ago
With one character, EXP gained is tripled (watch my soloing video for FF6 to see an extreme case of leveling - one battle, one level - it's that fast!). Solo all the way to 99 before getting anyone and every character, including guests, will always have 99,999,999 EXP and be on level 99 so you won't have to level them. Thus, one werewolf, worth 1205 or so, is, in a sense the same as defeating an enemy worth 7230 EXP. The gambit system is only worthy for the nonleader party members.

i think i saw something just like that with FF6, it was like 22 levels in one battle against the Tyrannosaur monster and i saw a couple other games that gained an abnormally high amount of levels in one battle. i myself just dont have that sort of skill, i mostly level by grinding...and yeah all the exp gained is accumilated to one character instead of 3 characters getting a small chunk of it. i controll Ashe as my leader and i mostly just heal accordingly if the others dont.

i'm at level 60 with vaan. still no progress and still havent gotten penelo. you should try dustia method?

I've defeated everything about this game but somehow can not find that monster in the Crystal. You know the big one. The maps I find are vage and obtuse, oh well.
Infinitesimalism 3 years ago
That crystal is the most frustrating part because of the lack of maps. I had to make my own map.... If you want something odd, try reaching level 99 before you first get Penelo. It can be done, really! I was level 35 when I first did, but if I focused more on defeating the werewolves, I could take this all the way to 99!

This is a pretty good way to level, very nice video! Helped me a lot cause i couldn't find anything better than Dustia early in the game @_@
kitsumii 3 years ago
My primary way, before I start getting the others, is defeating the werewolves in Giza Plains after reaching a certain level (30). I'd like to play this game again so I can get videos of this procedure.
ulillillia 3 years ago

I want to play FF12 again so I can get level 99 before defeating the Rogue Tomato - possible in 200 hours.
ulillillia 3 years ago
I haven't messed with watching your other videos. I just don't see a reason why you couldn't really travel that far into the game. Now I remember-- It's the Cerobi Steppe where I usually train. Enemies die fairly effortlessly, and don't give too bad exp. Still, I don't grind so much in that game. I'm not really a huge fan of killing bosses as absolutely fast as possible.
LaughingThesaurus 3 years ago
With 4 characters present, you'll see that I have very few spells, and extreme levels, one character in the 90's. It's my "first fast leveling grounds" video, if I recall.
ulillillia 3 years ago
It's nice that you're so interested in doing that, but I like relying upon New Game +-like features to get me there. Actually, FFXII International Zodiac Job System has a mode after you beat it called Strong Mode, which starts everybody off at level 90.
But I'm not the kind do to this anyway. I was just wondering if I could contribute anyway. Nihopalaoa is rather handy for the strong stuff is all I was saying.
LaughingThesaurus 3 years ago
I actually have 5 leveling (4 mainly used) grounds in this game that I would use to reach level 99 with: Estersand to 6, Giza to 15, Westersand to 30, Giza werewolves to 60, then waterway to 99. It could be done in 200 hours, probably even less. The reward? Do it before defeating the rogue tomato and every single guest and party member will be at level 99 when you get them with 99,999,999 EXP.

Where can I find the second easiest esper to beat & what lv should I be to fight? Vaan (main char.) is 22 currently.
SpaceFilmStudios 3 years ago
I don't recall how difficult the espers were. I never used them at all throughout my game, though I did fight them for the extra challenge. I got my first esper at level 50 or so....

i dont think any of us really care what level your characters are or how youve killed, your clan points or you license point. or the fact that you use active mode.
all these things are irrelevant to your video. please dont make any more videos if you think any of us care that you use active mode LOL

judging by 7 thumbs down at least a few people do care

But here you already have penelo and so should use more people in your party to cut down on time switching between them.
gurumasterfunk 3 years ago
Didn't you look at the levels of the others? Why would I bring those others in, at 99, when there's just one below it? In addition, there's a bug where if I go too fast through the area, the snakes don't appear and without them, it slows things down.
ulillillia 3 years ago
Why do you only use one person in your party? If you use two more people in your party then the exp. would be split between the three of them and you would level up three characters at once.
gurumasterfunk 3 years ago
2000 EXP gained with one means just 667 gained with three. There's also annoying an bug with ranged weapons when the other characters have it. If you reach level 99 before you get any other characters, all new characters and guests will be at level 99 (and of all things, with 99,999,999 EXP).
ulillillia 3 years ago
Exactly. 667 x 3 = 2001. That is one extra experience point that you are getting. It might take longer to level up each character, but all three will level up faster together than if you have to switch characters inbetween.
gurumasterfunk 3 years ago
Actually that's not true. The fractional part is rounded down. 500 EXP for a single enemy wouldn't be 167 EXP, rather, 166. You'd get 498 so it slightly slows you down. It still hardly improves the rate at which enemies are defeated though and that's key. If you do this before you first get Penelo, that 500 EXP you get solo becomes that much toward everyone, making it 6 times faster.
ulillillia 3 years ago
I agree that it makes that leveling up fun (I've done stuff like this a few times) but isn't the rest of the game, the story mode, boring once you are that powerful?
gurumasterfunk 3 years ago
The only slow down is taking a wrong route and solving pesky puzzles.
ulillillia 3 years ago
The way that you play this game does not seem very fun to me. This is how I do it:
I prefer to not level up too much at one time. That way as i go through the story, the individual battles and bosses are more of a challenge. I also prefer to keep most gambits off and don't use any gambits for the character i control.
Your way is boring. Once you level up, there's no challenge for the rest of the game, and with gambits on, you don't actually do anything. You just run around and watch.
gurumasterfunk 3 years ago
I do this with all RPG games. In FF7, I reach level 99 before finishing disk 1. In FF2, I can max the three main characters' HP and a few stats, within 50 hours, upon first getting Mindu. I also can get to Mysidia well, well before you're supposed to. It makes the game a lot of fun.
