@nobleminstrel I don't think so. This was Patti's song. She needed a duet partner to complete it and chose Michael McDonald. Here is a bit of trivia re this song. The two of them sang their parts on both sides of the country. If memory serves, Patti did her part in NYC and Mr. McDonald his part in California. The song was mixed and this was the result. The first time they met was on the Johnny Carson show where they sang it together for the first time live.

This is a fine song and especially so for those who have lived through something and can relate to the lyrics. I love this performance by these two fine artists, even if it goes back more than 20 years. At various periods in my life "On My Own" has had a particular meaning to me. I have been there, so I know and understand.
