IDK, the graphics are fine, but as for the set, why not just use the CBS Evening News desk? It doesn't cost any more to use another set if it's already built. Well, except it is a higher electricity bill using more lighting and better definition mointors. But then again, this is CBS we're talking about, not just any local station. You're paying an untold fortune for electricity use already, so what's the harm in shelling out a little more dough for the overnight news program?
@bakerandbaker1 Well it's more to do with staffing. The control room for 47-HD needs 13 people to operate, there is no separate 'pres' gallery for short bulletins, so it's more than just electricity...
And of course no Evening News control operator would be willing to get up that early and come back later to shoot Evening News, and there would be difficulty in finding qualified replacements. Plus you have to pay those people. I see your point.
If you like this intro please email CBS News at uttm@cbs.com and ask them to go back to this. The new one is WEAK.

Disappointed they no long play this theme. Always found it soothing when I couldn't sleep. The new one isn't as strong, and it is quite lame.

I can confidently say this rivals the NFL on FOX theme.

i like CBS but this is a very cheap graphics and set

@BroadcastTVNews Yea, because people at 2 AM really care about million dollar sets and full Viz graphics....
It's not economically feasible to pay for a fully lit set and full graphics/graphic operators for someone only a few thousand watch.

@CHANNELMICHAEL except that NBC News can afford one

@BroadcastTVNews I believe NBC News have a greater budget than CBS do.

News should be the top priority of any network anyway, as it's a public service-when done right.
