Let's call these press conferences for what they truly are...an opportunity for a handful of people to have a job and get a paycheck every two weeks. In the big scheme of things, do you really think anyone gives a shit about what is said at these "press conferences". Tony Snow is doing what he is supposed to do, hide as much as he can from the American public. The reporter's job is to ask the tough questions, to at least find the truth. He recently apologised to David Gregory.
Tony Snow tells the pompous "reporters" that they are not gods and they can't handle it. David Gregory makes himself a part of the story and he isn't.
No - could yours be affecting you? David Gregory sticks out like a sore thumb because he is about the only person in there that asks reasonably tough questions. Clearly he shares my philosophy that politicians should be asked something slightly more challenging than 'what did you have for breakfast this morning?'
I saw him on Bill Maher's show in HBO before he became press secretary and handled himself quite well. He doesn't get personal or flippant and I think his fairness and articulation have served him well in this job.
Gregory is plainly argumentative and disrespectful. Nothing else. That's how he makes his money.
