Urr, Hamilton did not overtake by corner cutting, he held off on the straight and gave the position back to Kimi. HENCE WHY KIMI WAS INFRONT AT TURN 1 YOU GIANT IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!! Thumbs up for crashing Ferrari's at the end hahah. Fantastic video!!
@Pinedx360a Keep that in mind.Lewis, by cutting chicane gained an advantage. If he would have taken that corner properly he would have been 0.5sec behind Kimi and could have not overtake him on that straight. Maybe on the next one, but not that one.Penalty was fair.Get over it.
Massa on Weber, was just like what Schumacher did to Rubens this year. Not sticking up for MS but i didnt hear Webber getting criticised. He is a dirty bastard Webber pisses me off, over rated, ancient prick.
Hamilton is King. Look at the number of overtakes the guy is involved in, and he wins nearly all of them.
Such a pity they had a pack of rabid dogs posing as stewards at Spa that year. What would've been a fantastic win for Lewis was stolen and given to that Mutt called Massa...all he did was drive around the circuit like a pussy and was gifted the win.
The number 1 overtaking wasn't legal and Hamilton was penalized for such move so he didn't win the race. In any case the overtaking should be called: "Kimi on Hamilton, when Hamilton goes off track"
@alferoos Maybe because I'm probably not the only one who was jumping up and down the living room thanks to the adrenaline rush those last few laps gave me.
And the move wasn't illegal until they made up a new rule after the race, if I recall correctly.
all of us did jump in the room but with different feeling mine is cursing hamilton for his cheap and rookie driving that he couldn't take kimi legally <, and get your story strait that they did not made a new rule 5 f1 drivers protest against hamilton that he got an advantage of cutting the chicane and so he got penalized for the move
this is fancying of mclaren...on all hamilton's overtakes, he overtook other drivers from inner side, and in couple of scenes, he was pushing them from tracks(on massa in germany), and some of them are just ''normal'' overtake
massa on hamilton in hungary is one of the best overtakes I've ever seen, it should be in top 5, overtake on 1 is ''cheating''
why isn't here raikkonen on hamilton in belgium(2nd lap), and just couple of secs from kovalainen on alonso, what happened in race?^^
Okay, he's not the fastest, but he's a great racer. Kinda the opposite of Vettel, who's damn fast but struggles to finish races. Heidfeld has the record for most consecutive grand prix finishes, ever.
what is so amaizing in overtakes like "hamilton on fisichela" O_o i meean, the bolide differences are huge, it's like passing maruders for a second time...
There were a lot of boring overtakes, and can I ask where is "Vettel vs Hamilton" at the last race? That was the most exciting lap (and race as well) in that year, because of Vettel!!
There were a lot of boring overtakes, and can I ask where is "Vettel vs Hamilton" at the last race? That was the most exciting lap (and race as well) in that year, because of Vettel!!
Battle or overtake?? Ok, battle was great. I agree with you, but topic is overtake. That wasn't amazing. The first overtake in this battle was stuppid, because of this reason, Hamilton lost the race. The second overtake was was caused by Raikkonen's mistake.
If you don't understand why the Kimi/Hamilton battle was the best battle in F1 for several years then you don't understand racing. It was simply the greatest fight and moment of the 2008 seasons done in wet conditions on dry and worn tyres. Two great drivers in a great racing moment. We don't see nearly enough battles like that.
Dood, sorry but the first corner on your number one overtaking move Hamilton clearly broke the rules and cut the corner and had a huge advantage down the straight. Heidfeld in the wet on 2 occasions was just awsome. Do i detect a little pommy bias?
@stewieinvic The problem is that was the first time that rule had ever been interpreted in that way. And it obviously was not "clearly" broken as when that decision was made it rocked the sporting world and divided opinions amongst experts. No one expected that ruling (no one in the business anyway). No commentators and no teams and certainly not race control. Until Spa2008 most of us thought all you had to do was give the position back. Now we know, but back then it was a huge surprise.
Some of the maneuvers seem unsportsmanly, like the way Hamilton keeps forcing Massa out onto the gravel in #9. Or is that considered normal, because he can't turn any faster?
pretty cool set of overtakes there. Look at how many times Hamilton features, regardless of what people think of him F1 really needed him to generate more interest in the sport.
No. 1 was an awesome battle between Kimi and Hammy, loved watching it live screaming at the tv as they exchanged places. Glad Hamilton came out on top i thought everything he did was legal.
@Jrcarmello Wrong! It was fair as he'd given the place back to kimi, which is:
1, Exactly what the rules said he had to do.
2, Race controls Charlie Whiting even confirmed moments after the incident took place that Hamilton had followed the rules and by giving the place back.
There was nothing in the rules at the time of the race that stated anything about him having to wait (to re-overtake), that rule was invented 1 week after Spa and was introduced at the Italian GP.
@icetonky It was invented after Spa, because they recognized that it wasn't a fair manouver. It was a great overtake, i can't deny that, but Hamilton's had a little help from himself.. :p
@Jrcarmello That is a ridiculous argument, he followed the rules, all he was required to do was give the place back. He did that, period!
You think it is fair that a driver follows a rule exactly as it is written and gets told by the chief FIA steward moments after the incident that he has followed the rules, only for 1 week later a new rule is written in a back room in order to apply a penalty retrospectively?
There is nothing fair about that, it isn't sport or racing, it's bullshit politics!
@Jrcarmello The only part of my comment that was opinion was the last paragraph, the 1st 2 paragraphs were fact.
It will always be a contentious issue, simply because races should be decided on the track, not in back rooms by stewards.
It's a shame, because back in the days of Senna, Mansell & Prost, dogfights like Lewis & Kimi had at Spa were quite common, but these days the FIA is more interested in processions than drivers racing each other :)
plus it wasent even that good hidefild should get number 1 and this guy sure is lewis fan veryyyyyy sad

Number 1 isnt very fair because HAmilton cuts, and yes he gives back the position But after he let Raikonnen a little bit pass (not completely).
And he was there on the better line and was having more grip then raikonnen when accelerate. Thats my point of view.
