Haha my dog is such a weenie when it comes to snow. He doesnt like to get his feet wet, so if he ABSOLUTELY has to go out in some he tip toes xD It's hilarious
I'm getting a Yorkie this Monday :) He's a rescue and very shy but I'm super excited to help him out! I can't wait for him to see his first snow this winter!!! <3
Thanks everyone!! They love playing the snow, its so darn cute. I payed $900 for Roxy Jo (the bigger, long haired one) and $1300 for Remi (the "rabbit" in the red jammies.)
@MattJones1418 The sweater is a must for small dog like yorkie. Our yotrkie had a big problem with kidneys just becasue we thought he is strong enough to stand the cold weather... Well, since then I dress him when it's rainy or cold weather and I really don't care that somebody may think my dog looks stupid.
@Fotolovkyne Yea i guess that makes sense, it's just a lot of times it seems unnecessary and it ends up looking stupid, especially the fashion accessory type of sweaters.
@MattJones1418 The purpose would be warmth. Trust me on this. I own a a yorkie with arthritis and if he isn't wearing his little sweater his front legs freeze up.
@MattJones1418 i know this is an older comment but the vet even says you must put the clothing on the puppies in the winter because they can die from the cold cause they get cold very easily. so they do serve a purpose thank you.
@MattJones1418 Because these dogs where specially bred to be indoor dogs for the english. The only time these specific breeds where aloud outside was during the day to hunt rodents but when it was cold or during the day they where put inside to watch their owners. these dogs where not just here when we came they where bred for a specific purpose. to give their owners joy and an alternative to run around the house and catch mice. They where not bred to be outside dogs. do ur research please. :)
@MattJones1418 basically breeders take many different breeds of dogs and breed and breed till they end up with a specific breed. and the yorkie wasnt bred to be an outdoor dog it was bred to give its owners joy and company. there bodies cannot sustain the heat possible to be out in weather conditions that cold. i was just like you before i got my yorkie :) i thought the whole clothes thing was dumb till my vet explained the importance to me
There were wolves in the past as wild dogs, we (humans) bred them down to tiny sizes...so Yorkies didnt exist back when the indians did, they would have either froze to death or died of heat stroke. Wolves are a whole different story. They are made for the cold. Every dog on the planet no matter what size has lineage back to wolves.
@MattJones1418 Some yorkies and dogs in general that do not shed get really cold because they don't have a lower layer of fur to keep them warm. So sweaters are a good thing if used practically.
I paid $1200. for mine and I was thinking maybe of studding him. Even the breeder said she knew a woman who wanted to when he was old enough. Then one of his testicles didn't come down and the surgery was evasive. When I talked with her, the breeder, she didn't want anything to do with me after that. A friend said, it's like buying a car with only three tires. I love him and don't care because she said, after my having him 6 months that I could return him to get my money back. They all say that.
Nothing will make you forget your troubles like a yorkie. Our first yorkie (wicket) was a hopper and we would also call him Thumper. Our newest yorkie is named Corkie and he is sooo sweet. We took him in because the owners could no longer care for him. What sweet blessings they are!
That was so cute. They do look like little bunnies. You have more snow there then we do here in Alaska. What is up with that? I love your babies. Merry Christmas.

@kkerrick88 well the puppies were not a waste of money, but the sweaters were. y do owners put those on, they look so stupid and serve no purpose
MattJones1418 1 year ago
@MattJones1418 you're entitled to your own opinion, but we put those on so they don't freeze in the snow.

They have Yorkies on Craigslist with small rehoming fees because the owner can't afford to keep it in this economy.
