The mob chanted Candyman five times before he died. He kills those who chant Candyman 5 times in hront of a mirror as calling Candyman reminds him of the cruelty he suffered. A woman named Helen was working on her thesis about urban legends and jokingly summoned him, with dire consequences...

On the third, anyone close to his other descendant, because she summoned him, like Annie and Helen did. Helen to try to prove the legend wrong for her thesis and Annie tried to show her students that he didn't exist, despite warnings from them. he kills anyone who calls him 5 times in the mirror

@TheAttila5000 If you stand in front of a mirror and say Candyman 5 times he appears and kills you with a hook that was put in the place of his severed hand or, he can send the bees that nest on his hollowed torso to kill too. He got the moniker Candyman because they poured honey on him, a kid tasted it and said candyman, wich incited the mob to chant it and attracted the bees that stung him to death. The movie is based on a short story by Clive Barker (The Forbidden).
