I understand your opinion, but I don't agree with it. Postive sterotypes in some instances can be as destructive as negative ones. Saying that Asians are good at math or that blacks play basketball is not negative. But stereotypes can cause Asians who may be good at sports to abandon their abilities to pursue math when their passion and skills lay elsewhere. Or it can cause blacks who may have academic potential to try sports instead of academic pursuits.
What the "you are being too sensitive" pisses me off. Blacks live in neighborhoods that are more polluted than whites, get pulled over more than whites, can't get similar loans as whites with the samer credit ratings, on and on...If whites were discriminated against in this way, Fox News and Rush Limbaugh would make sure everyone in the world knew it. Blacks don't complain and work hard enough to correct inequality. This might be small, but it's the little things that count.

If you respect someone or other people in general, you would take how they feel into account. I don't think you understand the point I was making. In my opinion there is a difference between pointing at an Asian man and saying "you must be good at math" or saying "you must have a small penis" Many people believe every stereotype is a negative stereotype. I disagree. There is nothing offensive about liking a certain food be it watermelons, fried chicken or burritos. And YES people today are very easily offended.
Making fun of a tragedy is a completely different issue.

I understand your opinion, but I don't agree with it. Postive sterotypes in some instances can be as destructive as negative ones. Saying that Asians are good at math or that blacks play basketball is not negative. But stereotypes can cause Asians who may be good at sports to abandon their abilities to pursue math when their passion and skills lay elsewhere. Or it can cause blacks who may have academic potential to try sports instead of academic pursuits.

Blacks live in neighborhoods that are more polluted than whites, get pulled over more than whites, can't get similar loans as whites with the samer credit ratings, on and on...If whites were discriminated against in this way, Fox News and Rush Limbaugh would make sure everyone in the world knew it. Blacks don't complain and work hard enough to correct inequality. This might be small, but it's the little things that count.
